OK, after freaking the bejaysus out of me with the weird trailer / advert I am intrigued and looking forward to giving this programme a viewing.

(I will have to record and watch later as I will be watching Messrs Strange and Norrell.)

Anyone else looking forward to it and hoping it lives up to the hype?

I think you could be right standing

Was it tonight or a previous episode she say there were 9? I missed that, will have a look tomorrow.

whattheseithakasmean · 19/07/2015 22:39

I think Niska said she was 9 but Elsnor had still had sex with her. But of course she would have looked the same as now.

firesidechat · 19/07/2015 22:39

I didn't think the detective woman had the same face as Niska.

Max has got to survive. His character is lovely.

firesidechat · 19/07/2015 22:40

Yes her age was 9.

MadeMan · 19/07/2015 22:41

I liked when Max told the daughter, "I'm not a telephone".

werenotreallyhere · 19/07/2015 22:41

Yep, Niska said she 9 years old

SouthWestmom · 19/07/2015 22:44

I am getting really confused about this now. Are they dead people who've been synthed up, so retaining some memories? Like Leo so part human because of his memories but then part robot?
And I think Nishka is too close to human and just seems like a person.

Rummikub · 19/07/2015 22:49

Loving this. Especially the scenes with niska and George. Can't believe there's only 2 left :(
Max is so serene.

TwartFaceBeetj · 19/07/2015 22:49

you are right fire just checked they are different actresses, but I still think if you put blues eyes and blonde hair on the detective they look same (I now know they can't do)

Rummikub · 19/07/2015 22:52

No all the synths have been made and given root code that enables feelings and consciousness. Leo is human, but brought back to life with synth tech.

gingercat12 · 19/07/2015 22:52

TweeBee and Twart Those were two episodes of Black Mirror, but there were others equally or more disturbing. It was quite shocking when the robot husband based his answers on the deceased husband's Facebook-posts...

wine Obviously the synths' ladygarden is very well-designed. Grin

Why did George say that his relationship with his wife has ended? Is he not moving back now that Simon is gone?

Wow! So you were right that all the synths are types. However I started doubting David Elster's noble intentions now. All the ones we know seem to "serve" the Elster family's purpose. Mia was the first one, the nanny for Leo. Then came Max, the little brother / friend. Fred must be the protector, he must have been their muscle. Niska was obviously created with the adult mode in mind... That was probably the reason they never had to / could leave the house. And why did David Elster kill himself? (I was too busy staring at Leo to actually listen to anything they were saying. They should not say anything important when Leo looks into the camera.)

Do we think Karen knows Dr Milligan? Or has she genuinely just read about him?

Rummikub · 19/07/2015 22:56

Wasnt it Mia, then Fred, niska and max is the youngest brother.

firesidechat · 19/07/2015 22:57

The video play from Leo's brain was cut off quite quickly by Leo, so I suspect there is more to it than Leo's dad turning them out and committing suicide.

standingonlego · 19/07/2015 22:57

I stand corrected on my hearing of 9 :)

Italiangreyhound · 19/07/2015 22:58

BitOfFun haven't watched the whole of that clip but have I did wonder if thebit at the start of the programme was real, and I think it was that one.

Well all the theories about Mia being Leo's nanny, spot on!

I guessed who Tom was, but I only told one person!

firesidechat · 19/07/2015 22:58

Wasnt it Mia, then Fred, niska and max is the youngest brother.

Yes.

Italiangreyhound · 19/07/2015 23:03

whattheseithakasmean yes, it explains why she freaked out when the client wanted her to be very young and scared because she was very young and with her feelings had probably been very scared.

werenotreallyhere · 19/07/2015 23:05

David Elster is the government doc chasing them! Or rather he isn't as no one saw the similarity, I must have been on the drink! Grin

werenotreallyhere · 19/07/2015 23:06

I should point out all my Utopia theories were wrong

Merrylegs · 19/07/2015 23:07

So Leo is a human.with a synth brain. Hence why he ages (because he actually died when he was 13). But then why would he age? His body is a cadaver really. He needs powering up, but not into his brain but his side. So what then, his central nervous system? Also Niska is only 9. But she was Leo's teacher when he was younger? Before he died? Or after? I missed that bit. Anita is 14. How old is Leo now? Gah is like some hideous logic puzzle.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2015 23:08

I think Leo was brain dead but kept alive.

MadeMan · 19/07/2015 23:12

I'm guessing Leo is supposed to be about mid twenties in age.

Ellle · 19/07/2015 23:13

Yes, I also suspect there is more information on those memories from Leo. The video was cut off abruptly as you said. I'm not sure if Leo doesn't know about the rest because he is subconsciously blocking it (traumatic memory), or he knows, but doesn't want the other synths (his brothers and sisters) to know about that part that drove David crazy.

I also noticed today that the clips about robots at the start of the programme are real. The two japanese robots mentioned in the links posted above are there in the intro. I thought the whole thing was fictional, but is more real than we know...

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 19/07/2015 23:13

I really am impressed by this series. British TV is starting to step up to the sci-fi plate isn't it?

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 19/07/2015 23:15

(Doctor Who aside, obvs)
