OK, after freaking the bejaysus out of me with the weird trailer / advert I am intrigued and looking forward to giving this programme a viewing.

(I will have to record and watch later as I will be watching Messrs Strange and Norrell.)

Anyone else looking forward to it and hoping it lives up to the hype?

Yes I just saw that! Love how there's so many layers to this and the blonde synth is kick ass, good to see a woman as powerful rather than a victim.

Or like in Invasion of the Bodysnatchers and the only human in the programme is/was actually Laura.

Who's the fifth synth? The guy tracking Leo and co said on the phone 'we're not looking for 5 synths, it's 4 synths and a human'

So there's Leo and Max, Niska and Mia. Who's the other one? I can't remember.

Ok, so if Leo died and his father brought him back, then he's part human part synth.

The underwater flashbacks - I wonder if Anita/Mia died and she was brought back in the same way (as were the other synths in that group, who are also perhaps part human part synth?)

Noble - hasn't 1 of the synths from that group been captured? Wasn't he the chap who worked on either a farm or garden centre or suchlike?

Isn't the guy who has Fred in the lab the same one who said they were looking for 5 synths? If they already have one wouldn't he have said 4?

My memory is terrible watching weekly programmes these days, I'm too used to binge watching box sets I think.

Jens dh scene was grim. But Jens dh knew about Tom and originally thought that Jen had gone there as he was asking Anita if anyone called Tom lived in that road where she was?

The daughters switched on though isn't she? nicking that girls bag to leave as security.

I like it, I don't really watch much on tv, but this has grabbed me.

Furball, is it a hunch that the reporter is a synth or have I missed something? Following on from the detective I wonder if there will be more synths hiding away in real life.... Maybe the prime minister!
I also don't watch much TV but am gripped by this!

This series is based on a swedish science fiction drama called "Real Humans" from 2012 that had 10 episodes. The main characters in "Humans" are the same as in the original series, with the same names and personal stories.

Some parts of the plot from the original series seemed to have been left out (political stuff, terrorist attacks), and in "Humans" they seem to be focusing more on the emotional impact of what it means to be human or almost human.

I like this version of the series a lot (haven't seen the original, just found out about it online). I'm looking forward to finding out what is the explanation in this version for this group of special synths and Leo's involvement and whether the end would be in line with the original story or if they'll change it.

I don't think she was fudging it, she wasn't covering for Jen. Jen hadn't gone to see Tom, she was seeing the woman about the synth human rights legal challenge. Anita correctly told the husband this from the landline call.

I thought it was illustrating that Anita could be asked about a Tom but use her knowledge of names to check for Thomases. The synths really are quite clever.

Yes, I interpreted it as her sophistication in knowing that Tom = Thomas. It's a bit 'only on MN' that this could become a conversation about giving your child the proper name vs the diminutive! Grin

Yeah I agree that Anita wasn't lying, just that the writers/directors/whoever is in charge of show was asuming that all Toms are Thomases.

I guessed that the detective was a Synth at the start as she did seem robotic. Was she one of the ones seen in the woods at the start? I don't remember what they all looked like.

Yuck to the party scene! Just realised who Toby is - Horrid Henry from the movie. I am not sure a young lad would pass up in a young girl in favour of a robot but there you go.

Mattie is pretty much a star, getting out of the cafe by substituting someone els's handbag was brilliant! Sh also defended the synth at the party having started out shooting them with an air rifle, that's growth for you!

Furball what makes you think the reporter is a synth?

I can't quite get what everyone means about human/synth? Are we talking hybrid? If so how would it be a synth mind in a human body? I thought Leo just had synth parts a la The Bionic Man (outing myself as a middle aged woman here!) But also like Will Smith in I Robot who had a robotic arm covered in spray skin.

I thought the scene with client who wanted her synth at the theatre was excellent, when she asked if the synth was scared, his answer was so different from Anita's.

Brilliant.

The bits that I find less good are are the bits like other films so the whole smash club or whatever it was just reminded me of AI, which was the most depressing film I have seen!

I only thought about the synth police officer when she locked the door, did not see the blue bag of gunk coming!

Can't wait for next week!
