Ah, thanks ehric and chief. Of course, yes I like the o-ren iishi comparison! Well, sort of...

Snakey I liked that dany got on the dragon and winced! Made it seem more realistic.

Where were all the unsullied during the fight? Im assuming dany thought she wouldn't need them so had minimal security.

QueenOfThorns · 08/06/2015 23:00

Ser Jorah took Dany's hand! Doesn't that mean he might have given her greyscale?

SerJorahsSecondChoice · 08/06/2015 23:00

Do you think it's too late for her to get a refund? She should check her receipt. This one says you have 30 days to change your mind, this does not effect your statuary rights.

I can't actually believe that they went with it. BOOK Stannis would not do that and nor would his wife (I remember as being quite caring in the books but maybe I am imagining it). In the book, Shireen is not out of danger but Stannis wants her on the iron throne should he die. SHOW Stannis has been made into a monster. Not sure how he would ever redeem himself in viewers' eyes.

Drone. Yawn. Really, what is the point of this story arc?

Trant likes raping little girls. Of course, he does. So that Arya kills him for the greater good, not just for personal revenge? Ugh at Arya being his next.

Enjoyed the Dany scenes very much. Yes, unsullied - shame she killed the sellers as she can't get her money back.

Poor Jon. Did you see his face when Olli refused to smile back at him? Wait till next week, mate. Grin

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 08/06/2015 23:03

Queen I asked exactly the same thing on the spoiler thread earlier - did he use his greyscale arm? Does it pass that easily?

AmberFool · 08/06/2015 23:04

Xpost with serjorah re:unsullied!

honeyroar · 08/06/2015 23:15

Greyscale passed to him that quickly...

I've never liked Stanis. Hope it will get him his come upance.

uglyswan · 08/06/2015 23:17

OK, just watched it and you know what? Stannis' entire army deserves to die. So I'm team Bolton now (at least until they've killed of the Baratheon troops, but perhaps the Boltons could also die horribly in the process - win-win!).

I like this dragon. He's very methodical. The way he turns on the flamethrower and then sort of plays it along the ranks? Very efficient.

Trills · 08/06/2015 23:22

How were there that many metal Sons of the Harpy masks in the city? Some armourer has been very busy. Maybe that's where Gendry is! Off in Mereen making masks for the rebels!

I sometimes watch off-schedule but I'd be happy to say no spoilers before the 9pm showing.

An I'd also be happy to have people NOT bitching about how 2am is the "real" showing. No it's not. It's 2am. FFS.

honeyroar · 08/06/2015 23:23

We're all turning into Ayria with our lists of characters we want to die!

Ramsey
Stannis....

Lweji · 08/06/2015 23:25

Is is me or did Melisandre cause the fires in the camp, which ultimately led to Shireen's death? Because that's what she wanted all along?

Trills · 08/06/2015 23:28

Last time we saw Ramsay he was saying about going guerilla-style to disrupt the camp, so we were meant to think it was him, at least.

Wouldn't put it past the scheming red bitch though.

uglyswan · 08/06/2015 23:28

Ooo Lweji, good point!

I think the Dorne plotline is so boring because they're basically trying to keep it on the boil until the news that Kings Landing is now a theocracy with noone but a weepy teenager and whatsisface Dr. Frankenstein in charge gets in and they can decide to invade. Right? Because that would be the perfect opportunity.

AmberFool · 08/06/2015 23:29

honeyroar Grin

Well, I for one, can only watch it at 9 pm on Monday nights. But I do avoid all forums etc from Sunday onwards. The idea of having a separate Sunday thread is a good one though.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 08/06/2015 23:31

DH has made a good point about Stannis's cuntish action in tonight's ep - why would he now want the Iron Throne? He has no heir...

Northernlurker · 08/06/2015 23:48

Stannis will have to ditch the awful wife and beget a new heir. But he won't get the chance to do that because something epically nasty will come his way. Does this leave that Gendry chap as the only surviving Baratheon then? All other offspring are dead or Lannisters aren't they?

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 08/06/2015 23:50

I think Arya is going to change faces so Meryn (sp?) won't recognise her.

SerJorahsSecondChoice · 09/06/2015 00:47

Tonight's episode has probably put paid to one version of a popular fan theory though (not L+R = J)

OP posts:
Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 09/06/2015 06:27

I'd quite like to go to dorne on holiday, lovely weather, pretty people, nice clothes and wine. no religious fanatics
I hope a girl doesn't get caught by a man and kicked out, this revenge needs to be complete.
See, even in the books I thought stannis was weak and not as virtuous as all that. But this is a new level of weak.

herfrom2doorsdown · 09/06/2015 07:07

Ser why does the episode put paid to the R+L=J theory?
That might just be what we are being led to believe, given that I think I know what's coming up in episode 10 it would all tie in.

The fan blogs say Shireen's burning was GRRM's idea and will be in the books.

Agent160 · 09/06/2015 07:13

I hope Davos is angry when he gets back, but I got the impression he knew something like this was going to happen, hence he was suspicious of why he was being sent instead of a messenger boy and he asked to take Shireen and Selise away.
When he was given some BS about having to persuade Jon Snow and told he couldn't take Shireen he went off to say thank you and goodbye for the last time.

AmberFool · 09/06/2015 07:25

What I can't believe is that Stannis murdered his daughter for a bit of bad weather and to get Winterfell. If he had done it to fight the WW or because the Wall has fallen or to fight dragons it would perhaps make more sense. What's he going to do when all of that happens?

Duckdeamon · 09/06/2015 07:43

There's an angry review on line asking why the writers made a big deal some time ago about how much stannis loved and sacrificed for his daughter, with him giving a loving speech to her (not in the books) and then wrote this.

Also it's yet more GoT gratuitous violence against women. we don't know how the death will come about in the books.

Agent160 · 09/06/2015 08:40

I think if it Stannis hadn't given that speech about how much he loved Shireen then we would have known she was done for as soon as Melissandra suggested killing her. The speech made me question if Stannis would go through with it and therefore it was more of a shock when he did. Also didn't he say something like "you are the Princess Shireen and you are my daughter" could be interpreted differently now we know what was to become of her.

Trills · 09/06/2015 08:42

R+L=J is only any use to Melisandre if she KNOWS. Maybe her Red God hasn't told her. No other bugger has told her.
