What got me is the way they grab her and her feet are lifted off the ground because she's so small and the faces of the soldiers as they know what's coming. I think even this show knew it couldn't actually show a little girl being burnt to death but her screams are almost worse on their own. Such a short scene but to me, more upsetting than the Red Wedding because her fear is palatable and the betrayal is just something else...

Arabella I don't think it means she will burn in the books. If anything they will probably try to be as different as possible to each other so one doesn't spoil the other dreams of a happy place where Stannis is dead and Davos & Shireen have a lovely father-daughter relationship and she lives to a ripe old age

I had quite grown to like stannis up until there. Not much of a sense of humour true, but I thought solid and honourable.

That was a bit too much even for me and I didn't bat an eyelid at the sansa scene everyone went on about.

The dragon though - wow. Beautiful. I love dani she's by far my favourite character.

That episode was all kinds of awful ....typical stannis it would be hypocritical for him to save his daughter and not the other people that have been sacrificed I am dissapointed that happened I liked Sireen. Maybe she's not dead if she is a targarean?? That doesn't explain the screams though

I loved tyrion saving Missandei but it felt a tiny bit at least it was one good thing.

seeing as tyrion stole missandre's job he kind of owed it to her. bloody men, coming to Mereen and steeling women's jobs

I said to dp, shireen really was such a likeable character, she wasn't in it much but she was sweet and a real source of innocence amongst the bastards and torture etc etc. Stannis you complete cunt. The problem is that when he does do horrible stuff like this, he always seems to reap the reward :(

Just finished. After the Shireen scene I had to stop the episode to recover. I absolutely sobbed. I would have happily watched an episode that soley consisted of Shireen teaching Daavos to read. He's going to kill Stannis, I reckon.

I think because Stannis was made more likable in the series we forget what he is - a religious fanatic with a list for power made worse by the fact he believes he has right on his side. He happily killed his own brother and brother in law. He would have killed his nephew. He is ruthless and we were led down a path deliberately to make us forget that side of him. I think it is in character.

I do have a smidge of sympathy for Selyse. Classic example of someone brainwashed by religion after a horrible event (she lost all of her sons to stillbirth) and throwing herself into religion for comfort and meaning. Sparred with Shireen for rejecting her religion. At the end she realised it was wrong but she was too late. I can see the analogy.

I liked seeing Dany worry for Jorah too but she needs to review her security arrangements! Unsullied weren't all that at all, were they.
