TENNIS Thread! The French Open is coming- will it be #RG10 for Rafa?

Raahh · 18/05/2015 16:19

or number 1 for Djokovic?

given recent form, things look less than great for Nadal-but he likes the big stage and slams are a different beast to other tournaments.

So- new thread to talk ( mostly) about tennis- though it's not compulsory.Grin, and we all have different favourites and respect that others might not love our favourites as much as we do.

so...a week to go. May Murray be less tired, Rafa more confident , and a happy tournament be had by all.

Vamos

I want to see Isner play Goffin.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:49

I like that 24% of that poll didn't think Murray or Heather would win today. Grin

it wasn't me voting, honest

If you have a B&M near you they do natural fish & chicken treats quite cheap.

Make liver cake or give him tiny bits of cheese, much cheaper !

Cor, teething. Hmmm.

Sibe girlie was good, only chewed a couple of pairs of shoes & slippers. And shredded loo roll a couple of times.

Sibe boy. Well. Let me think.

He chewed. Flooring. Electrics of DHs beloved stereo, rendering it useless. Shoes. Slippers. Garden wrecked. Christmas tree & decs.

Bonnie worked her way through our pine dining table & chairs, and our pine bed.

We have a new table & chairs, but the bed is still waiting to be replaced. Least no-one but us see it. Blush

Table legs are a favourite.

I will definitely look in B and M. I always forget to go there.
The breeder started him off on Orijen- which is very, very expensive. Fortunately, he doesn't need much of it. We have stopped the scrambled eggs for breakfast though, spoilt animalGrin. Too much protein could have been making him a bit stroppy according to the trainer.

Oh Sousa. Sad

Give us a match. Come on.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 15:55

Murray will win easy today. Heather possibly going home. Sad

Upset would be good. I suppose it will come when Rafa beats Novak, if not earlier. Wink

Don't think Serena will go all the way. She gets too stroppy if she's not winning. Don't think Shrieky will get to final either.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 16:03

I think it is quite hard to call in the women's draw.
Mind you, I don't really pay attention to it like I used to in the Navratilova/ early Graf days. I probably watched as much of the women as the men then. There seemed to be more personalities in the game.

I wish Clijsters and Henin had stuck around longer.

There are too many plaits. Grin

Try ebay for biscuits & treats. Some good deals to be had.

Funnily, I find little independent shops better value than the typical PAH or wherever.

More likely to do a deal too. Smile

Bonnie came home having not only scrambled egg but also Coley or cod fillets. Hmm

I suppose you could get some of those tins of fish in oil, and dry them out for treats. Might be more economical than buying ? If you can stand the stench !

Best thing for food when he's older, is get a really good quality meat, Bonnie's are generally over 70% meat, rather than meat meal, then you can afford to be less fussy about the biscuits.

You can always add raw/cooked eggs, oily fish, meat & vegetables etc to his dinner as well.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 16:04

Oh yes- I forgot the white fish!

That got knocked on the head too Grin

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:06

I miss Henin. She was good.

I don't pay as much attention to the women either.

Its just not as exciting or entertaining. Having said that, last years Eastbourne was good.

It seems most of the characters in the women's get knocked out in earlier rounds.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 16:06

I try to mix his food up a bit- he is very fond of carrotGrinHe still gets some egg.

It's way more complicated than having children, having a puppy Grin

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:11

Oh yep !

I only have coffee for breakfast ! No way am I cooking fish at 6:00am. Urgh.

Raw egg is good for skin & coats, as is oily fish.

Garlic is also good. Mash up a small bulb & you also have flea treatment !

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2015 16:16

Oooh, swears.

I notice that Sloane Stevens is wearing a homage to a skirt today.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:18

Not all going Andy's way.

Time fault bit unfair. Don't get the logic. Why longer in tournaments other than slams. Grrrr.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2015 16:18

Grin DD1, who is three, thinks they're playing good tennis as they're sharing the ball nicely.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:20

Oh, bless, Grouchy. Smile

Its when they get older & moan about the tv being taken over.

I'm oblivious to it. Grin

Raahh · 28/05/2015 16:21

I don't get why the time is different in the slams. Surely that's where you need longer.

ooh!! Come on Sousa!

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:21

Ooh ! Shouty Murray !

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:23

What annoys me is the fuss they've made of Rafa & umpire.

What with the wind, long rallies etc, I feel that particular umpire is a bit of s twat.

No consistency from umpires either.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 16:24

Shouty Murray? Is he losing this set then? Funny how the old Murray surfaces when he's not getting his own way.

Kim will be swearing next.Wink

Sousa is quite a tenacious player- not scared of a long match.
Murray still chunnering.

I'm getting the moaning. DD1 thinks tennis is boring.

I'm thinking of selling her on eBay. Grin

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:24

Jim understands. Smile

But. Umpires should use common sense.

Not a 'soft warning'.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 16:25

Oh shut up about Rafa.Angry

Good shot Sousa!

Double set point!

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:26

Not really, Raahh. More like roaring for winning the point.

Crowd getting rowdy.

1 set all.

Is this the upset no-one predicted ?

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2015 16:27

I do like it when there's a proper match.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 16:29

Mine have learnt just to either watch or go & do something else.

Grumpy Murray.

Injured Novak. Not affecting him much though. Might need taking note of, that will be an issue later in tournament I bet.

Hmmmm.
