TENNIS Thread! The French Open is coming- will it be #RG10 for Rafa?

Raahh · 18/05/2015 16:19

or number 1 for Djokovic?

given recent form, things look less than great for Nadal-but he likes the big stage and slams are a different beast to other tournaments.

So- new thread to talk ( mostly) about tennis- though it's not compulsory.Grin, and we all have different favourites and respect that others might not love our favourites as much as we do.

so...a week to go. May Murray be less tired, Rafa more confident , and a happy tournament be had by all.

Smile

I've got a sore throat, the baby has been keeping me awake all night since we moved house a week ago, and it's cold here today, so I'm already eating everything in the house. Grin

Also, I'm so tired of people describing the sky as 50 shades of grey. Bloody book.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 15:08

Awww. Lack of sleep is horrible. I feel for you, & Grouchybaby.

Its cold here today too. I've caved & put the heating on.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 15:09

Haven't read 50 shades. Not interested.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:10

Right.

I had to start dinner. Early, I know, but I want to be able to sit and watch. Even if it is MurrayGrin

I imagine this will be over before puppy training. Once Sousa gets into his strideWink

Now- do you think the commentators are going to confuse Murray with the ball boys, since they are wearing the same colours? Grin Seems to be a real issue with them this year.

I read '50 shades'. I have read more erotic cereal packets.

It's the talk of added thiamin. Gets me going every morning Wink

A 10 minute game to start is not going to help either of them.

19C is hot for a Scot.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:17

Grouchy Grin

Raahh. Grin

We're having blt panini's tonight. Huge, messy in front of the tv dinner. Quick too.

Going shopping tomorrow for 'easy' food for next week. Grin

Gotta be prepared.

How's training going ? Is he toilet trained ?

I trained Lass to tap the door when she wants a wee. Should have a doggy door really, she's such an indecisive mare sometimes.

If she feels no-ones paying her any attention she taps so you get up & speak to her. Despite that usually being a telling off for buggering about. Grin

Feckin birds a shithead too. I taught Lass a specific whistle for when I want her to come. Bird has learnt it.

Lass is scared of birds. Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2015 15:19

If they average those first two games do we get a normal time?

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 15:22

19C is tropical for a Scot, isn't it ? Certainly shorts weather, anyway. Grin

This could be tougher than expected for Andy. Should come through.

Wonder if we'll lose another seed from the men today ? Another shocker would shake things up a bit.

Not wanting to tempt fate. Just pondering.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2015 15:23

We're having frozen leftovers for the second night in a row (different meals). Was going to make bread to go with but the scales might have got wet in a water pressure accident a few days ago and they now no longer work.

I am envious of your puppies*. Really want a dog.

*Dangerous phrasing but probably true either way.

MrsVamos · 28/05/2015 15:24

Gawd. We've got Petchey fawning again.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:24

Grouchy- maybe.

Ike is toilet trained, and sleeps really well. But he is very nippy, and seemingly very possessive. Of me and food. Grin He spent last week at class 'defending' me against the tiniest dog I have ever seen- think it was a malti-poo or something. Very fluffy. Looked like a kittenGrin. We have been hand feeding him this week- to stop him inhaling his dinner and getting stroppy.

He gets very barky, and lead training is going to be a loooooong process, I think.

Lass is no longer a pup. Sad She was 3 in February.

She is a right baby, though. Smile

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:26

I have chucked stuff in the slow cooker for chilli for dh, and made meatballs for the dcs. I don't usually do separate stuff. But sometimes it keeps the peace. (and dh can take the chilli to work).

It is the most 'cooking' i have done all weekGrin -

Djok up a set- 6-1 against Muller in the first. Kokk needs to get some sleep before they meet.

Djok and Kokk

Jim is waffling away again.

Nippy could be teething, which should stop.

If its becoming a habit, a sharp 'no' and point your finger at him. Don't smack/tap his nose. Dogs noses very sensitive, hence why if you smack, they bite ! Short, sharp shock noise works best.

Sounds good what you're doing with the food. You can also help that by getting soft, chewy biscuits (hi-life is one brand) - mix a few in with dinner, makes them work a bit at eating.

He might be a bit young for Natures diet or similar yet. If you get a really good quality meat, like ND or Fish4 - there's loads, you can save pennies on biscuits - or buy good quality biscuits in bulk ! Feeding wet & biscuits usually helps them not to wolf food down.

Or, you can get feeding bowls to help. They're sort of knobbly, so they can't wolf grub, they have to get inbetween the knobbles to their food.

Bonnie is very barky. Collie trait, they love to talk. She most specially loves barking at pigeons, silly cow, who aren't fazed by her at all.

We get red kites here. She ducks at them !

Lead training...perhaps try a flexi one ? Lots of control & can keep him close, but let him run when you want ?

We walk Bonnie on a harness & long flexi. Keep her close on paths etc. I taught her to sit & wait at crossings too.

If she ever forgets I ask her "what should you be doing" ? and she does it !

It always feels like such a long time & load of hassle when they're little. You get the payback when they're older. Smile

Tell me to eff off if you know all this !

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:40

oh dear- Sousa is not happy about something.

Djok & Kokk. Love it. Grin

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:44

MrsV- it's really useful, thank you. I do like the look of the knobbly bowls. We had some fish skin treat things that came with him from the breeder. i need to get some more. He also has an antler, which keeps him busy.

I think he is teething- but at least he isn't taking things out on the furniture (yet) . My beagle when I was little ate all the furniture. As did my house rabbitGrin

Ooh. DF.

Got this set easy.

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2015 15:46

Forgot that Mauresmo is having a baby. Cute bump.

Raahh · 28/05/2015 15:46

Well- it all looks a bit easy for Murray and Djok so far.

As it should, I suppose.

I really want a meaty 5 set match, with an upset , if possible.

it's not going to happen todayGrin

There is far, far too much bright pink about.

It isn't particularly flattering.

ooh- I like Coric.

And Goffin looks about 6.

Jack Sock!!

So Rafa plays Kuznetzov.
