I know there's a few of you out there...

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 09/01/2017 17:35

They hit Irritating Bonnie from Holby City with a truck on her wedding day... just saying!

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 10/01/2017 13:19

If they'd wanted to dump Seb, they'd have killed him off, had him leave medicine entirely or sent him further afield than St James'. He'll be back, when there's some spurious and daft dramatic benefit to it. I suspect this is just the cleanest "out" for the allegation situation, so they can focus on something else for a while without him getting in the way.

Not sure if there was any point to the whole storyline yet. The writers don't seem hugely bothered with continuity or actually having a point to anything these days, so maybe it was just them killing a few minutes air time. Who would know.

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 10/01/2017 13:23

Back in the day, Lara Stone had one fiance die the day he proposed, and the other die on their wedding day, in a helicopter crash. There are plenty of other disaster days in the past too.

Killing folk off on their wedding day is like a Holby tradition. It's just not a wedding without someone being unexpectedly inhumed...

Mirandawest · 10/01/2017 13:26

Casualty is annoying me at the moment.

Louise particularly annoys me.

And the Ethan/Cal storyline just goes on with no resolution.

I'd have thought Robyn might have mentioned Glen occasionally but it is as if he were never there.

Connie is being odd. Which is understandable but I'd prefer her to be a bit more like she usually is.

I am enjoying Holby a lot more at the moment though :)

purpleme12 · 10/01/2017 18:41

Can't believe Connie is going for Elle.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2017 18:54

Thing is, she did look like she knew that she'd made a mistake with Grace's care when Connie confronted her.

purpleme12 · 10/01/2017 18:59

Oh I didn't think she did I thought she just looked funny because she knew Connie was just going to come after her as she's been funny with her for a while.

notaflyingmonkey · 10/01/2017 19:09

Casualty used to have good storylines each episode based around the patients. Now the storylines seem to all be about the staff, hence why they are running out of steam. I hope it gets better soon, as I've been watching it for years.

purpleme12 · 10/01/2017 19:30

I love Casualty it's my favourite and I've also watched it for years but over the last few weeks I have wondered if you're right there.... which upsets me actually!

DodoRevival · 10/01/2017 21:37

I think we mentioned this way up thread - the patient storylines need to come back. I think you'd get at least three build ups in the old episodes and you'd be able to guess what was going to happen. That was Casualty fabulousness.

Hear hear, Dodo ! I miss the old chainsaw predictions.

BubbleWrapQueen · 10/01/2017 22:19

Used to be my favourite bit of casualty. The first five minutes. "He's going to crash that lorry" "he's drilling with a wonky ladder, he's going to impale" "she's running with scissors"!!!

DodoRevival · 10/01/2017 22:39

It was what Casualty was!!

We need a campaign.

DodoRevival · 10/01/2017 22:44

*It was what Casualty was about!!!

(Forgot a word there)

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 10/01/2017 22:56

Another one missed what happened to Glenn.... and agree storylines have been shite lately

Agree completely. I'm completely fed up with it at the moment, but I can't make myself stop watching! I'm very sad about the way Ethan's character has gone, because I used to like him but now it's all big eyes and mournful expressions. Nowadays Dylan (and Dervla) are the only characters I'm at all interested in. Charlie has to be there of course, just because, but I wouldn't mind if there was a good 'ol A&E explosion soon to clear the rest out. Then start again with an innocuous set of staff and some interesting patient storylines.

spiderlight · 12/01/2017 11:51

Glenn did the classic 'Leaving forever on a bus with all his possessions in a small holdall' while Robyn was waiting to marry him in the hospital chapel, because he didn't want Robyn to have to deal with the pain of him dying, but I suspect he'll be back. I don't think he knew she was pregnant.

I agree that we need to get back to the good old 'Spot the victim' days.

zukiecat · 12/01/2017 11:57

I have almost given up on Casualty and it used to be one of my favourite programmes

I don't care about the staffs love lives, it's so boring

Totally agree bring back the old style when the fun was trying to guess who would come to deliciously gory end

Casualty has always been largely about the staff - leastways, since the mid-90s the focus has been on the staff. Patient stories were (and are) interspersed with the longer running staff themes. I usually find the extended patient story lines tedious, so I'm not hugely sorry for the staff focus. I do wish their writers were somewhat less ridiculous/ tedious in their choice of story lines for the staff though!

Spot the gruesomely maimed victim was fun though. We don't get to play that enough any more.

Optimist1 · 14/01/2017 23:17

Poor, poor Elle ... Connie is really gunning for her. I really hope something happens to put a stop to this (and no, I don't think Jacob is the one to do it).

Ethan/Cal/Alicia storyline was annoying us months ago upthread and it's still not resolved. If the scriptwriters have any compassion at all they'll put an end to it - and not a moment too soon, IMHO.

BoxLoadingBaby · 15/01/2017 15:26

Ooooh I think David might be thinking of coming off his meds.

DodoRevival · 15/01/2017 21:49

Just watched. Connie is hideous.

Agree the Cal/Alicia/Etan story needs ending now. Preferably with Cal gone.
