Wasn't he giving the baddie a beating, not just grabbing him?

Report
Isadora2007 · 01/05/2017 02:19

I don't understand how Cal grabbing the baddie a few times (and getting extra stabbed for it) would "stop" him going after Ethan...
and as a glasses wearer I agree with the others the scene with Ethan leaving his specs was just stupid. If that had actually happened he would have been standing at the resus door STILL unable to see where Cal was even though he was right there.

I live a bit of Cas and Holby, they are the best showd in the Telly imo! Grin

I too was in tears on Saturday night :( Dd and I were gripping one anothers hands saying to Dylan "Come on Dylan, look behind you! You have to find him!" And then "No! No! Cal can't die!"

I was also thinking over the years just how many doctors and nurses have been stabbed to death in Holby City Hospital; they have a real problem there and I would never work there as I'd probably die from a knife wound!

Lisa Shipton is a terrible actor!

The glasses thing was odd. Even if he'd taken them off to kiss her he'd have automatically reached for them when they were interrupted. I think it would've been better for him to have worn them into the room & pulled them off so he could wipe tears from his eyes & dropped them on the floor, potentially even stepping on them without noticing as he approached Cal.

I had a bit of a dense moment at the end. As the credits rolled I thought to myself "Cal should get top billing" followed by "Caleb? Who's Caleb & why does his name come first?!" BlushHmm

Like others I don't get the whole thing with the glasses. Yesterday I took my contacts out then went towards the bathroom and had to go back for my glasses. And I'm not actually that short sighted. If they wanted him to seem vulnerable, to me he seems more vulnerable with them on

I was also shouting at the TV when Max said he's not answering his mobile, GO TO THE FUCKING PLACE YOU ALL GO AFTER EVERY SINGLE SHIFT YOU KNOBHEAD even though it's completely different to the one in Holby

And I am saying that and I love Max--

Cal's generally a twat but I feel bad for Ethan.

I am far too invested as I am still upset since yesterday. Sad
Cal kept fighting to keep the bad guy away from his baby brother....I can't get over it.

I didn't like Cal, but wow poor Ethan

I really didn't see that coming with Cal. It made me cry too at the end.
It was an omg moment with Lily & I was really cross with Connie & Grace's accidents.
But Cal, that just blindsided me. What will Ethan do without him?

Report
spiderlight · 30/04/2017 16:39

I really wasn't expecting that! Honestly thought it would be Lily who carked it. :(

And the placards were all hand written, I guess to get around them not consulting BMA etc

He had to leave his glasses behind to facilitate the "tears running down face" money shot.

I was hoping Ethan working hard to save Cal would be juxtaposed with Ethan and Alisha shagging and was disappointed they were still in the pub Sad

I also thought the bit with the specs was a blunder. If you are short sighted you don't walk off without your specs.

I'm afraid that was exactly what I was thinking all the way through that oh-so-touching final scene. Why did they have him do that? Was he supposed to look more vulnerable and boyish without his specs?

Anyone else pick up a not very subtle union-bashing thing going on? Surely any of the picketing doctors when asked why they were striking would have been able to pin the blame on management? It just seemed like we were being shown that it was the doctors who were putting lives at risks, not Sam for making bad decisions. That, and the fact that the doctors start a work to rule without apparently even consulting their union, and then escalate to all-out strike with no balloting, no three weeks' notice or anything. Was Angry with the scriptwriters for implying that unions can do exactly what they like.

Even when Cal died he mucked up Ethan's evening.

Charlie and Duffy do a sort of pincer movement, TheDrs - he breaks the bad news and she swoops in with a cup of tea and a head tilt.

I'm disappointed that cal turned all good guy and gave his blessing to Ethan and Alicia
I don't think he would have done that
It would have made a better storyline if cal had died amd they hadn't sorted it out

Just watched. Why is it always Charlie on bad news detail?

I wanted Ethan to die in a big storyline, I don't want the inevitable Huntingtons drawn out storyline that they no doubt have in mind for him Sad
