I know there's a few of you out there...

OP posts:

Zoe has made a great recovery

and didnt the receptionist turn into a nurse so quick

SoupDragon · 05/09/2015 22:43

To be fair to Robyn, Zoe did cheat on her step brother the night before their wedding.

InimitableJeeves · 05/09/2015 22:50

I'm assuming there was meant to be more than a week's gap between the last two episodes? In Holby where basic employment law doesn't apply it wouldn't be unusual for a receptionist to be allowed to leave her job without notice and be recruited as a nurse within a few days, but I hope they wouldn't try to make out that Zoe would have recovered from near drowning quite so quickly.

I thought Lofty was going the right way to get himself a crazy stalker for a while there. But it's just the building she has the hots for, phew!
How do they come up with these stories?

What's the betting she's wangled herself a job as receptionist by next week and is found to be living in a stationery cupboard soon afterwards?

SoupDragon · 06/09/2015 08:34

Rita did make a comment about Louise having passed her assessment with flying colours or something so it implies there was some kind of proper process. Other than that, the only comment relating to time having passed was that Dylan was not well enough to return to work.

I thought Lofty was going to get a stalker too :) Ther house storyline was utterly bonkers.

Moln · 06/09/2015 21:31

I'm just watching. Do you know think, there would be a slight possibility that if a building was to be demolished that the demolishes might just possibly check the inside of the building for people and/or animals?

SoupDragon · 06/09/2015 21:35

Don't be ridiculous.

Moln · 06/09/2015 22:07

Sorry

SoupDragon · 07/09/2015 07:59

If that sort of thing happened, what would the staff at Holby A&E do all day?

InimitableJeeves · 07/09/2015 09:37

People falling in love with objects is a thing, though, isn't it? I recall reading stories about people who fell in love with cars or, I think, motor bikes, and even having some sort of sexual relationships with them. But I suspect if it's a woman in love with a building the relationship has to be mainly platonic Confused

EBearhug · 08/09/2015 00:00

Yeah, but she fell out of love with the old building, and in love with the new one in about 5 minutes. I don't think she's really taking either relationship seriously enough.

Basic employment law doesn't seem to apply in most soap operas. It really annoys me that no one ever has to go through proper disciplinary or grievance procedures or work their notice or anything. I think they've got a duty to show what the rules are (unless they're doing a constructive dismissal storyline where not following the rules would be relevant.) For some people, their knowledge of employment law is probably picked up from soaps as a starting point, and they should set a good example, and make it more true to life in the process. Bit of a bug bear of mine.

Moln · 08/09/2015 17:33

If I where a building I wouldn't be impressed with her. The flighty so and so.

Pixel · 08/09/2015 18:53

Well you could say that the building never really fancied her in the first place and was therefore guilty of leading her on. Wink

Optimist1 · 27/09/2015 08:56

The Jacob/Connie thing is turning into the Nescafe Gold Blend advert, and I hated that too! Lovely touching scenes last night with Robyn and the bereaved Muslim father, great interplay between Lily and new doc (Alicia?) both overshadowed by Jacob's macho banter and Connie's simpering ... yeuch!

InimitableJeeves · 27/09/2015 09:22

I do agree, EBearhug. See also the way landlords in soaps can just get tenants out by telling them to move.

Moln · 27/09/2015 09:26

I did like Jacob's (well the actor that plays Jacob) use of jazz hands to show the character was nervous.

Moln · 04/10/2015 20:47

Who or what are Hart?

I feel like I've missed something.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2015 20:56

I am So behind with casualty. Havnt read the last comments
As don't want to ruin any plots

But just watched the demolition one and yes one would think they would check the building before bulldozing it down

And people really fall in love with buildings?????!! Shock

TheDrsDocMartens · 04/10/2015 21:04

This fell off my threads. I'm not up to date though so possibly why Blush

Moln · 04/10/2015 21:25

It had fallen off mine too. Had to go look for it.

InimitableJeeves · 04/10/2015 21:27

I think they explained what HART was at one point when they were talking about it being a response to 7/7. It stands for Hazardous Area Response Team.

What I couldn't understand was how Lily suddenly sussed that the banker wasn't a banker. She referred to three initials which I can't remember and he suddenly admitted to being an out of work dustman. What did I miss?

Moln · 04/10/2015 21:38

Thought I'd missed the explanation about HART.

Lily sussed it out because he didn't have a gym membership. As you would Confused

TheDrsDocMartens · 08/10/2015 21:35

I didn't get the Hart thing. They didn't seem to do much different than paramedics.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2015 20:04

This fell off my on list

Just watched no 8 - flutterby with the father and daughter whose wife /mum died of cancer

And teenagers in love

Think 2 weeks behind

Anyone still watching ?

Moln · 03/11/2015 20:07

Yes I am.

I think the next on you watch might be the one that had me confused - what happened at the end of the one you just watched?
