Yes sounds like it could be good. I need a new drama to get into

The80sweregreat · 17/03/2015 16:34

Yes, although it looks like it will be another Clocking off.. ( old drama series from the 90s )

GetHappy · 17/03/2015 17:10

Yes it looks good altho maybe bit similar to one a couple of years ago about haulage company - Truckers??

I like Jo Joyner a lot and interested to see Michelke Keegan in first post Corrie role.

Clawdy · 17/03/2015 21:07

Was looking forward to it until I read the story-line of the first episode....afraid that lie sounds so ridiculous I've lost all interest!

Chipstick10 · 17/03/2015 21:19

I'm quite enjoying it

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2015 21:29

On planner

And would someone really low about their wife dying? Hmm

theliverpoolone · 17/03/2015 22:01

I enjoyed it. Thought there were some laugh-out-loud moments. Looking forward to the rest of the series. I thought Rebecca Callard was good.

lucjam · 17/03/2015 22:05

I liked it, loved Rebecca Callard. Will be watching next week.

NickNackNooToYou · 17/03/2015 22:27

I really enjoyed it, definitely inspired by Clocking Off. Looking forward to next week Smile

Recorded it. Looking forward to watching

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 17/03/2015 23:34

I was looking forward to this but found it a teeny bit dull. I hope it picks up a bit next week.

Bakeoffcake · 17/03/2015 23:51

I did enjoy it. It is written by the same person who did Clocking Off, Shameless and lots of others. I heard him on the radio the other day, he's written so much great stuff.

thenewbrunette · 18/03/2015 08:46

The idea of someone lying about their wife dying is, of course, ridiculous! But I managed to suspend my disbelief and really enjoyed it! One of those great programmes where you keep going, "Oh look, it's so and so from that such and such".

Good to see Dean from Cucumber.

Which one was Rebecca Callard? Is she related to Beverly?

eddiemairswife · 18/03/2015 10:52

She's Beverly Callard's daughter. She played the sympathetic, lunch-providing redhead. Years ago she was Arrietty in The Borrowers.

Tigresswoods · 18/03/2015 19:29

Really liked this. Good premise & loads to build on. Agree it's like Truckers.

Southeastdweller · 18/03/2015 21:15

I agree that Rebecca Callard was great in this. Unfortunately I felt Jason Manford was awful and his part needed a strong actor to sell the story instead of distracting me like it did. But there's some decent actors in the cast and intriguing characters so I'll keep watching.

leccybill · 18/03/2015 22:21

Watched this just to confirm I still fancy Max Beesley.
Yep.

Sixpencenonethericher · 19/03/2015 11:16

I missed it and it's not on catch up for some reason

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 19/03/2015 11:54

It's on iplayer I watched it this morning.

thenewbrunette · 19/03/2015 12:55

I thought Max Beesley looked a bit ill leccybill. Seems to have lost loads of weight!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 19/03/2015 13:17

I thought the same, he looked quite pale and drawn.

Actually I think Jason Manford's well cast. It's the kind of ridiculous spur of the moment excuse I could imagine him making, but that's probably coloured by his past history and less to do with any acting skills.

I'm going to keep watching, I think it has potential.

leccybill · 19/03/2015 13:24

I think it's the voice/accent. It's very soothing.

limitedperiodonly · 19/03/2015 14:04

His lie seemed realistic to me. I worked with someone who claimed to have stomach cancer to avoid a bollocking for skipping work and being totally uncontactable for three days.

When she phoned she said she was having emergency surgery and needed an indefinite period off and requested we didn't contact her at this difficult time. She didn't give details of the hospital and her boss was so shocked she didn't think to ask.

But people needed to contact her to arrange sickness leave, so someone contacted her mum and we also sent a card and flowers.

Her mum was baffled and upset because there was nothing wrong with her daughter. The girl handed in her notice and we never saw her again.

I also went to college with someone who said he was investigating the IRA for an exam assignment. His assignment was late and he went missing. Then he sent one of us a letter saying that if he disappeared we were to inform Special Branch immediately.

I really have met some very strange people.
