As someone else said, the last one was a wasted opportunity.

I would like to give tickets to:

Simon
Chesney & girlfriend
Faye
All the Windasses
Tracey-Luv
Michelle
Sawphie
Owen
Kal and all his family

Plenty more seats available, feel free to add some more passengers!

Yes, Bethany's dad was never really seen. He was killed off a few years ago IIRC.

I am just waiting for Gail to go into a complete meltdown.

There are some pretty dire storylines going on at the moment, but even worse are the ones that have clearly been added for light relief, the allotment and Andrea breaking the cab office chair. Give us some proper realistic drama! I think Katie's exit was a real bodge job too.

eddiemairswife · 21/03/2015 11:52

Sarah-Louise married one of the Grimshaws. Were they ever divorced? I noticed that when Owen was cuddling Faye he was sort of clasping her arm and was nowhere near her stomach.

Sparklingbrook · 21/03/2015 12:34

I agree brunette, when it was launched Kym Hearsay and Steve were in the press about it being a hard hitting storyline. As someone who has been on anti depressants I am not sure it is of any help to someone with depression TBH.

The cab chair was a bit of a reminder of the Friends storyline and Joey's chair breaking.

There doesn't seem to be much of a storyline we can look forward to the ending to IYKWIM.

I think the Jenny Bradley thing will be the next one we are Hmm at.

thenewbrunette · 21/03/2015 13:05

I thought Sarah was meant to marry Jason but it never happened as she jumped out of the window (or he did?) Or maybe that was one of a myriad of other failed Corrie weddings..

There has not even been a mention of Steve's anti depressants or counselling for ages. He just looks a bit sad and someone says he us depressed every so often. Maybe it will be revisited with the wedding coming up.

Sparklingbrook · 21/03/2015 13:15

The thing is if he had been started on ADs when he was diagnosed he would definitely be seeing an improvement by now, and if not then returned to the GP for a different sort.

I didn't know we didn't know who Bethany's Dad was.

I would love to see Martin Platt make a return and sort it all out. But he's too busy making cheese I guess.

spidey66 · 21/03/2015 15:24

Bethany's dad was a kid at school called Neil. He died in a crash around the time she was born or shortly after.

Sarah was going to marry Todd, they had a baby called Billy, but he (Billy) died when he was only a couple of days old. Todd came out as gay shortly after.

Brthany's rubbish. She wouldn't have a Manchester accent, she'd have an Italian one, surely, seeing as she moved to Milan when she was 6 or something!

QueQuesto · 21/03/2015 15:30

Didn't Neil's mum go loopy and kidnap Bethany and try to jump off a bridge or something with her?

eddiemairswife · 21/03/2015 16:06

I have just consulted Corriepedia - Sarah was engaged to Todd, and lost the baby. She later married Jason on the 2nd attempt (he did a runner the 1st time). They split up after 2 months. I agree about Bethany's accent - Unless she went to an English school in Milan where most of the pupils were Mancunians!

TillyButton · 21/03/2015 16:28

Agree,or perhaps Richard Hillman could return from the dead and do away with some of the pointless LesDennis characters

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/03/2015 16:45

I want Todd's bumface to explode , taking out half the cast with the force

brittanyfairies · 22/03/2015 05:56

Haven't watched the episode yet, but re Bethany's accent. My two DCs have lived in France since they were babies, one of them before he could speak. They both go to French school and don't mix with English children yet speak English with a Durham accent and no hint of French at all. So Bethany's accent is probably correct. She was quite grown up when she went to Italy too so already had her English voice so to speak.

CharityD · 22/03/2015 08:33

I like this Grin. I think it's the only way they will be able to get rid of some empty characters and get out of storylines which are such rubbish, it makes watching Corrie a chore at this stage.

SavoyCabbage · 22/03/2015 08:47

Maybe Bethany will look younger when she's not all dolled up. She must be supposed to look older for her arrival scenes so she could flirt with Andy and of course be in T'Rovers.

I am liking that Jenny Bradley may have been interested in Kev as she wants a child as it was Rita's need for a child that made her foster Jenny Bradley in the first place.

"It's the circle of life, la,la,la,la,laaaaaa!
I can't remeber the words"

Perhaps Roy will do away with Kal's whole family and use them for compost on his allotment. Especially the mother.

CharityD · 22/03/2015 09:17

There is a nice photo of Bethany on the Corrie Facebook page, before she was dolled up, and she looks younger, and looks quite like Sarah.

CharityD · 22/03/2015 09:18

Yes, I like the idea of Roy doing that!

desperatehousewife21 · 22/03/2015 11:59

I also think Jenny Bradley is harbouring a choked child back in her past. She was v ott about Jack choking.

woodhill · 22/03/2015 12:23

loved the realism of the council woman hovering at the allotments.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 22/03/2015 12:27

Cannot have this girl playing Bethany at all - she's straight out of Manchester -style, clothes, hair, accent. Yes, she may look like the actress who played her mother, but completely unbelievable as 'returning from an upbringing in Milan'. It's very off-putting.

CharityD · 22/03/2015 12:58

I wish they had made her a bit likeable, not following the stroppy, painful soapstereotype...possibly to be transformed, in due course, as other characters such as Maddie have been.

Two things that looked to me like (badly) imitating pieces from Friends...the chair breaking, so funny, NOT, and her doing the fake crying for the taxi driver's benefit.

I genuinely do wonder how the decent characters who have had good, interesting stories, in the past, feel about the drivel that passes for Corrie these days.

CharityD · 22/03/2015 12:58

soap stereotype ...

eddiemairswife · 22/03/2015 14:38

One of the problems seems to be that so many of the characters are young and don't always stay, so don't build up any back story. All they seem to do is sleep with everyone else, have the odd baby then take off again to London, Spain or wherever.

Sparklingbrook · 22/03/2015 14:46

I think as well the young actresses keep leaving to have babies in RL meaning their absences have to be explained.

i just wish that it could portray a long running relationship/marriage with no HUGE problems. I know that's not exciting TV but there would be something quite comforting about it

The Gail Platt thing is just too much. All that going on with one character.

There are too many characters.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2015 15:17

Oh, I watched on catch-up, the 'Gail trying to divert LesDennis to the pub' scene was cringey in extreme.
I could imagine her delivering the lines and thinking "Why" to herself.

The Roy/Bloke With Chickens situation. Is someone tricking him by slipping some eggs into the coop to make him think his chickens are Super Layers?
(They'd have a Lion Stamp and Date Stamp if they did)

And Roy can't use those eggs in the cafe unless they're tested for salmonella . Though he was a bit Hmm offering to return them (it's six eggs, not gold)

I don't think that I can be bothered.
And I bloody can't stick the OTT Bethany character

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2015 15:22

in the mini-bus crash scene, when Steve was in a situation with the sports car...why did he veer the bus off road?
Why not just ram the car when it braked in front of him?
He's a driver by profession, he'd know that the minibus was heavy, higher up and going slower than the small more slightly built car.
Yes, he'd get whiplash, but not as bad an outcome at the rolling down the hill.

(I know it wouldn't have progressed as it did, but TBH, we were all expecting a cull )

sunflower49 · 22/03/2015 16:04

I am really confused about this 'Barbara' thing. If Michael came out of nowhere to Gail, who is this 'Barbara' , his Aunt? How does she know Gail? How did she know Michael was there?

Can anybody enlighten me?

The whole story's a bit ridiculous now. As a PP said, surely Gavin/Andy/Gandy would have had friends/relatives who would have cottoned on to something.
