Torchwood

Anyone spot the error in the first 5 minutes of torchwood regarding the comment Capt Jack made about oestrogen?

It does't get into the rain, only the water evaporates, any solids disoved get left behind!
I tutted over this and Dh said I was 'sad'

He then went on to point out that with those rank tabs he was Group Captain Jack, and would be called Group Captain, not captain.

So I called him sad.

A marriage made in pedantic heaven!

(19 years tomorrow!)

when was that on?

motherinferior · 26/10/2006 14:09

It wasn't quite tight enough - but hey, that's what a lot of us said with the new Doctor Who. And I too stand with Ms Moran.

Marina · 26/10/2006 14:10

V droll Unquietdad!
Anyone else wondering what Indira Varma does to directors to get herself written out so fast? Gone from Rome and gone in record time from Torchwood.
I liked it. Sexy and decorative. John Barrowman really is the biz.

motherinferior · 26/10/2006 14:15

He's reading the CBeebies bedtime story again this week, you know. The only man to give Winnie the Witch a camp and saucy twist.

UnquietDad · 26/10/2006 14:59

what wasn't quite tight enough - Gwen's top?

Ep 2 was on straight after. Both times.

Both are repeated tomorrow evening (separately) on BBC3.

UlySCREAMS · 26/10/2006 15:08

cheers UQD

UlySCREAMS · 26/10/2006 15:09

I like JB but not his body? He's a bit squarish to me?

Sherbert37 · 26/10/2006 15:15

Still can't get over the look on his face when he had to kiss all those Marias - like the cat who had got the cream. They all giggled and hid behind their hands, I seem to remember. DS1 is about to come home to a whole tape of daytime television, so better keep my head down.

UnquietDad · 26/10/2006 15:17

It's 9pm for the first ep, not sure about the second - it's not straight after. 10.30-ish I think.

from "Grange Hill" - "Gill H. Anger", a cunning bisexual private eye investigating crime in London's comprehensives.

from "Lewis" - "Wiles", in which feisty CID officer DS Jane Wiles uses her feisty feminine ways to catch unusual criminals in the Oxford underworld.

OK, I'll stop now.

MissyBabee · 26/10/2006 15:36

Thank you Marina! Me and DH could not work out where we'd seen that actress before! I shall inform him tonight.

I was initially quite impressed but then thought it was all a bit silly...

And the main guy is definitely trying to be Tom Cruise (who i do not like).

Also, DH kept saying why is he wearing 40s garb; surely he could have gone to a shop and bought modern clothes?

Hmm, think it tried tooo hard to be cool

UnquietDad · 26/10/2006 15:51

I don't think John Barrowman is trying to be Tom Cruise - there is a very slight resemblance but JB is much funnier, and more self-aware.

He's wearing 40s chic because his character initially appeared in the 1940s, in the "Doctor Who" episode "The Empty Child" last year.

Greensleeves · 26/10/2006 16:02

It sounds wank

binker · 26/10/2006 16:03

How could you compare JB to Tom Cruise - JB is far superior (and taller)

MissyBabee · 26/10/2006 16:07

i know his character is from the 40s Unquietdad but he lives in the 21st century, couldn't he go to the shop and buy new clothes? surely he has to buy clothes at some point

binker, you fancy him don't you?? LOL

Blandmum · 26/10/2006 16:08

Modern RAF uniform is almost exactly the same

I know because DH wears it

re: the using a pen thing...my DH says "if she was using MSword she'd be fine cause it automatically saves"
any guesses on what he does for a living?

oh and JB/TC? totally see the resemblance. but i HATE TC so why oh why do i find JB soooo attractive?

MissyBabee · 26/10/2006 16:16

thank you MB, i will point this out to DH!

Blandmum · 26/10/2006 16:22

To be fair, they don't wear braces on a daily basis, but do wear them with their No 5 mess Kit for formal 'do's'.

they can opt to wear braces with their Number 2 parade ground uniform if they wish!

I was quite disappointed - it seemed a bit far fetched (please note when I say that - I do watch Dr WHo (both new & old) Star trek (again n & O)X-files, and red Dwarf - so I don't know why I was so disappointed

fartmeistergeneral · 26/10/2006 16:25

heard John Barrowman on Jonathon Ross last weekend, and JR was saying he was looking forward to watching Torchwood and so were his kids, and JB said 'it's your choice' - obviously referring to the fact that TW is aimed at adults.

He could have said, 'it's your choice, but there will be extremely graphic sex scenes involving orgasmic aliens, and quite a few swear words'.

But he didn't. Hmmm!!!!

binker · 26/10/2006 16:25

I think I probably do MissyBabee ! plus the uniform coat combo is damn sexy.... I wonder if knowing that he is gay adds a ceratin frisson ?

binker · 26/10/2006 16:26

I meant certain, obviously too excitable here...

Blandmum · 26/10/2006 16:27

Binker. Shall I make you ?

dh just came home in his flying suit, boots and hat!

there are times when I am a lucky woman!
