It's back on Thursday! here. No details of contestants yet. How many men this time? Any?

Ten sewers, six weeks, can't wait!

(Can't think of another word for sewers at the moment, wish I could!)

Ohhhh, Amanda is just a few miles away from me...I wonder if she would like to be my frieeeeennnddd

Gatekeeper · 14/02/2015 18:20

Lorna sounds like a cross between Anita Harris and Penelope Keith

LIZS · 14/02/2015 18:32

Where do they get the child models from?

PigeonPie · 14/02/2015 18:50

Lizs - DH and I reckon they were from a drama school!

Roussette · 14/02/2015 19:02

Agree Gate Lorna... she has that voice!

I quite like Deborah, for a young girl she's got a lot of talent (but I change my mind every week!) and she's got fabulous blue eyes

I came across this today.
The videos in the first post are amazing.
There's also a link to another site, The Cutting Class with some brilliant posts on technique.

I assumed the children just came from an agency.

Greymalkin · 14/02/2015 20:17

This is my new favourite TV show! I'm such a beginner that all of the tasks they are set are way, way beyond me but it makes me want to try some dressmaking.

Action man, Lorna and Ryan are my favourites!

Quenelle · 15/02/2015 16:22

Thank you PigeonPie I really appreciate your help. And yes, Neil made a better job of it than that!

LIZS · 15/02/2015 16:38

Are they not doing the How to .... segments this year ?

SoupDragon · 15/02/2015 17:30

Did they do them last year? I remember them from the first year, but not last.

LIZS · 15/02/2015 17:31

There seem to be series 2 ones on webpage.

PigeonPie · 15/02/2015 17:46

Well, inspired by the sewing bee I've tested myself to see whether I can remember how to make a jetted pocket and a welt pocket. I haven't made one for more than 20 years, but I'm pleased to say that I can!

PigeonPie · 15/02/2015 20:13

Thank you Grin

Davros · 15/02/2015 22:02

How about my brilliant idea for a Sewing Bee challenge? - dog coats! They all wear them these days - quilted, cord, tartan etc with hoods, pockets, trouser legs etc. and they could bring in a load of different dog models. I would love that!

Roussette · 16/02/2015 08:53

Oh Davros that would be hilarious!

OP posts:
Davros · 16/02/2015 08:55

Claudia can take them all walkies

OnlyLovers · 16/02/2015 09:25

I wouldn't mind taking Patrick walkies. Woof.

KarinMurphy · 16/02/2015 10:41

Wow PigeonPie, those pockets are fantastic. So neat too.

I've been making waistcoats and my pockets have been a disaster despite practicing for hours. In fact the last two I claimed not have enough time and made them without pockets. Grin

SoupDragon · 16/02/2015 10:59

I bought a sewing magazine this month - Simply Sewing, trial subscription of £5 for 3 months so a bargain. It has a pattern for a dog coat!

SoupDragon · 16/02/2015 11:00

I'm ignoring pigeons showy off pocket skills Wink

Candycandle · 16/02/2015 12:22

Seeing bee is amazing. I've not watched any of the previous years but some of the tips they give are fantastic for a beginner like me. I'm really hoping that Neil does well. He seems to be able to do the tasks under pressure.

PigeonPie · 16/02/2015 12:34

Soupy you do need to remember that whilst I haven't done them for more than 20 years, when I was doing them that was pretty much all I was doing as an apprentice tailor - well pockets, bastes for fittings and final buttons!

However, when I was watching I was sitting there thinking I had no idea how to do them and so had to get some fabric out to test my memory!
