Have started a new one

OP posts:
JoanHickson · 09/02/2015 09:41

Looking at his role model, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

meglet · 09/02/2015 09:43

quality time with the kids, and no other family around whatsoever Hmm .

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 09/02/2015 09:44

Yeah, he would get quality time. She wouldn't. And no family around. I still don't understand why they can't swap roles and stay in the UK.

Batmam · 09/02/2015 09:45

They didn't have any friends missing them on the video did they

meglet · 09/02/2015 09:47

to be fair, they have got a bit of colour in their cheeks now.

Vagndidit · 09/02/2015 09:47

She does look a bit healthier, to be honest.

Vagndidit · 09/02/2015 09:49

40k pounds??? Christ!

loveliesbleeding1 · 09/02/2015 09:50

12 hour commute?

Sparklingbrook · 09/02/2015 09:51

OMG, this is stressful.

NZ looks a lot like Uk though. Confused

Vagndidit · 09/02/2015 09:52

They're lucky. It took us 4 years before we could qualify for a mortgage here in the UK. Not that we were daft enough to live in a campervan while waiting

meglet · 09/02/2015 09:52

my nerves wouldn't cope with a young child and a pool.

Batmam · 09/02/2015 09:53

He looks much more chilled out and she looks v. happy. Working 50hrs thoughConfused

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 09/02/2015 09:54

So he is working!

Batmam · 09/02/2015 09:56

Lovely kids

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 09/02/2015 09:57

Kids are fab. And the little girl is picking up the accent

Vagndidit · 09/02/2015 09:58

I'm not convinced.

Batmam · 09/02/2015 09:59

Can imagine his dad saying "if they want to move over there they can't expect us to go and visit willy nilly, they can't have their cake and eat it"

Rivercam · 09/02/2015 10:00

They seem to be struggling. It's actually quite nice to see someone admit that it's not all glossy and lovely, rather then pretending it is.

He could easily give up the police force and have more quality time in the UK...

Rivercam · 09/02/2015 10:01

Sorry, not nice to see them struggling, but nice to see someone being honest.

forago · 09/02/2015 10:04

another one I don't get. Why doesn't he take early retirement at home (as police with 20y experience seem able to do?), get a job couple evenings a week as a security guard or caretaker (our school caretaker is an ex police officer, good hours). She could then up her hours or work out of the house 3 days a week.

I don't understand why the people on this program don't think more creatively and flexibly at home.

JoanHickson · 09/02/2015 10:05

They have a dog.

Batmam · 09/02/2015 10:10

Might have been edited but he didn't mention Laura once

Agree that it's nice to see a family being honest for a change

forago · 09/02/2015 10:16

ha! school caretaker! he listened to me :)

ssd · 09/02/2015 10:28

Am I the only one who thinks there is loads of reasons these families move and none of them are shown on telly?

Rivercam · 09/02/2015 10:30

SSE - no, i wonder what the backstory is as well.
