Broadchurch thread 2- the one where everyone in MNPD requests a transfer to the traffic division

Thread number one.

So are we all still watching, despite the mumbling, bad writing and inaccuracies?

I'm not sure what ClaireGwen is up to, but they've written her to like kinky sex which in telly land means she's a bad un.

Last night's highlight for me was DH's genuine confusion over whether subtitles were for the hearing impaired or vision impaired (he may have had a couple of beers). Also sweaty Lee hammering in fence posts.

Has that junior solicitor fella been in something on CBBC?

When does The Missing season 2 start?

If you had a one-night stand, would you go downstairs afterwards, make yourself a cup of tea, snoop around papers lying on the table AND say to the mum of the son you've just shagged 'I'm shagging your son tonight'? I don't know, young people have changed since I was that age [mumbles off to have a cup of tea].

OnlyLovers · 11/02/2015 16:43

MissM, no, but I think she went back to his place and shagged him almost purely with the plan of finding something to help her in the case.

As for her telling the mum, that was a bit brass-necked, though. Grin

I've been away and then I got norovirus so I've only just caught up with the episodes I missed. Now I have to catch up with the thread. Is everyone still here?

MadameJulienBaptiste · 11/02/2015 21:22

Yes I'm here. I shall be quite sad when it ends, what will we talk about? is the missing available on dvd for my birthday

EauRouge · 11/02/2015 21:49

I think I've caught up! I'm starting to really enjoy TorchWhoSandChurch in all its trashy glory. I think the cousin definitely was involved somehow. Maybe she threatened to blow the lid on the whole Shagbrook thing.

I'm planning to write a screenplay featuring Russian Lee building fences in Chalons du Bois, anyone fancy joining me?

foxy most men fall asleep after sex or is it just the men I've slept with Wink

eau sorry youve been ill. I'm am here tho head exploding as usual

beachestoexplore · 12/02/2015 01:58

I agree with phonyics, junior legal has found evidence of the £1000 that OC paid to her sister to speak up about what she saw (man throwing something in bin). This will further condemn the investigating officers and barrister who has just lost her mum will be in no fit state to defend. Case will be thrown out?

PatterofaMinion · 12/02/2015 05:22

Looks from trailer like Claire gives dt some important revelation while lying in bed barely speaking. Does she maybe try to kill herself or get attacked by someone?

LillianGish · 12/02/2015 06:56

Araminta I totally agree with you. The big difference between this and The Missing is that I was genuinely trying to solve the mystery before - looking for clues, reexamining - even going back and watching bits again which suddenly seemed significant when they hadn't to start with - whereas with Broadchurch I'm just seeing the holes. If I hadn't seen the first series I don’t think I'd be bothering - I really only came on this thread to find some old pals from The Missing thread but there isn't anything for us to dissect. I can't believe they'll get another series out of it - unless they deliberately leave it on a cliffhanger this time.

Pinkwillow · 12/02/2015 08:46

Have I missed any explanation for Clare's phone call to Ricky?

VeronicaCaCa · 12/02/2015 09:07

No you haven't. Dt snd oc tried the number once, it rang but nobody answered, nothing mentioned since. I thought it would turn out that Ricky used to work at the place where the furnace was but him and Kate denied all knowledge of it when questioned.

EauRouge · 12/02/2015 09:13

Is it 100% certain that she was calling Ricky- did we see them talk? We know the number is for that area but IIRC all we saw was that she dialled and then we saw him picking up. Could be a trick to make it look like she was calling him.

Didn't Lee mention that he'd done some work for a farmer before? Or did I imagine that (not that I've spent a lot of time imagining Lee building fences, oh no). So maybe he knew about the Agri place.

OP posts:
VeronicaCaCa · 12/02/2015 09:18

I thought oc copied the number from Claire's phone and when they tried it, it showed the phone ringing out in Ricky's office with lavender pic in background. But we didn't see them actually speak.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 12/02/2015 13:58

ok I've got it.
broadmissingchurch series 2.5

Ollie is in Russia (get where I'm going with this?)
Tony in Russia looking for him with crumpled photo.
finds some new evidence that julien can't resist.
and, er, lee and Dt, by this time having solved broadsand and proved themselves to be top detectives, go to help.

The main plot hole in this, that may have us switching off in droves, is that Russia is a cold place so lee might have to keep his coat on.

Plenty of endless steppe out there needs fencing.

OC can pop in and out to give amazing performances whenever these 4 boys get a bit out of line and need a good telling off.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 12/02/2015 14:00

Agree with pp that broadchurch 1 and the missing kept us gripped and trying to work it all out.
whereas bc2 is less whodunnit and more wtaf.

EauRouge · 12/02/2015 14:32

Parts of Russia must get warm in the summer, no? Warm enough make Lee a bit sweaty even though he's only wearing a vest.

Yes, I think that's it too. I don't know why they didn't try to identify the number. Isn't that quite easy to do?

OnlyLovers · 12/02/2015 16:43

Oh, except it's bluebells not lavender.

VeronicaCaCa · 12/02/2015 17:06

Yeah yeah bluebells/lavender whatevs BlushGrin

HouseOfBamboo · 12/02/2015 22:12

I was surprised that OC just casually rang the number that she nicked from bog-visiting Claire from her OWN PHONE. Has she never attended a detective safety briefing on 21st century technology? What was she going to say if an axe murderer had picked up her call?

MissM · 13/02/2015 17:03

It gets quite hot in Russia in the summer so the Lee/Russia/fence-building series could work. I'm in.
