Broadchurch thread 2- the one where everyone in MNPD requests a transfer to the traffic division

Thread number one.

So are we all still watching, despite the mumbling, bad writing and inaccuracies?

I'm not sure what ClaireGwen is up to, but they've written her to like kinky sex which in telly land means she's a bad un.

Last night's highlight for me was DH's genuine confusion over whether subtitles were for the hearing impaired or vision impaired (he may have had a couple of beers). Also sweaty Lee hammering in fence posts.

Has that junior solicitor fella been in something on CBBC?

When does The Missing season 2 start?

:) yep said deceased cousin as well in first reply

I watched judge John deed or something like that with my dad earlier. Was fab lawyer /judge viewing

SnookyPooky · 11/02/2015 05:42

It's all very frustrating but I am still enjoying it.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 11/02/2015 08:37

Blondes the barrister slept with him on purpose to get in his house for a snoop. Hence just telling him she wants sex but they'll have to go to his house. The poor lad had been trying to impress her for ages and went like lamb to the slaughter.

About the pendant. Claire portfolio must have been done before sandbrook as she's been in hiding since. Was it her pendant that somehow was given to the missing or dead girl?

Bakeoffcakes · 11/02/2015 08:39

Madam why would she want to snoop around the journos house? Confused

FoxyMcFox · 11/02/2015 09:10

I wondered if there were two pendants? Maybe Ricky bought one for Claire and Pippa loved it so he bought one for her as well?

MajesticWhine · 11/02/2015 09:51

Ah, Judge John Deed, with lovely Martin Shaw, that was a great show.

MajesticWhine · 11/02/2015 09:53

yes, 2 pendants and some kind of secret threesome thing - pippa died because she found out.

OnlyLovers · 11/02/2015 09:59

Bakeoff, well we don't know yet, but clearly she found something that she thought would be useful to her/the case.

Re: OC and Beth suddenly being on hugging terms, I don't think she's forgiven her per se, but hearing about her husband writing her Dear John letter pushed her over the edge and I think she would have accepted anyone who offered a hug at that point. Her defences were completely down.

I'm really enjoying Beth this series, especially when she's not nice. I liked 'Yeah, nice try' when her husband casually suggested she didn't come to court on the day when he was giving evidence.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 11/02/2015 10:30

A) why else wold she have been looking at papers in the kitchen then telling her boss she has something juicy?
She never showed any interest in him before then goes straight to spending the night at his house, nephew of the defendant and one of the investigating officers.
B) it's broadchurch II. People are doing the mist wierd and strange things for which they will all turn out to have a reason.

BingoBonkers · 11/02/2015 10:48

The more I watch it, whilst getting more confused by the episode, I wish they had left it at Series 1.

MissM · 11/02/2015 10:52

There can't be two necklaces because if there were Claire wouldn't have needed to steal it from DT ex's car.

Am annoyed with myself for being so hooked on this, and for analysing all the gaping holes. But I genuinely feel sad that it's the last episode next week!

Tantalisingduck · 11/02/2015 11:00

Feel sad no longer MissM - well not until next week at least - there are two episodes to go...

MissM · 11/02/2015 11:50

Hurrah! Two more weeks of irritating over-analysis! Thanks Duck, you've made my day.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2015 11:57

i think it was orginally claires necklace and lee gave it to pippa, so claire stole it back

seaoflove · 11/02/2015 12:03

Why would Lee give his wife's necklace to a child, though? I can't remember how old Pippa was supposed to be, but certainly no older than 12?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2015 12:40

Maybe he gave to cousin and pippa stole it??

FoxyMcFox · 11/02/2015 12:46

Maybe the cousin helped herself to it while she was in Claire's house shagging Lee. I wish I could remember the flashback scene of someone putting on Pippa.

Just seen trailer for next weeks episode and there is a new male character. Grrrr.

Bakeoffcakes · 11/02/2015 12:50

It think the cousin is definitely involved, in a bad way.

SpanishFly · 11/02/2015 13:16

A few posters have commented that the young journalist is the "cousin of the victim" - but he isn't. He's Tom's cousin, not Danny's.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2015 13:52

True spanishfly I got confused well who wouldn't with this series Grin

But the jurno is still joes nephew and OC aka leading police officer

FoxyMcFox · 11/02/2015 13:54

Yes I thought that when DT explained the Sandbrook saga to the journos in series one he was quite clear that it was opportunistic but he obviously they knew it wasn't if just the evidence was taken. In fact I thought he said other stuff was stolen and recovered afterwards minus the pendant. We watched series 1 at xmas so still quite fresh in my mind. Did he suspect Claire then? I am also wondering how he managed to take the blame without it being questioned. How did he explain the car being in the hotel car park? Surely there would have been some cctv.

Why would junior legal woman think she'd find anything useful in the journo house? Or know that he'd fall asleep and she'd get chance to snoop?

I need to get a life.

OnlyLovers · 11/02/2015 14:06

I think junior legal woman HOPED she'd find something useful in the journalist's house (not unreasonable seeing as she knows he's been investigating the case), and she HOPED he'd fall asleep so she could snoop.

IMO out of all the implausible things happening in BC at the moment, this is just about the least problematic.

Pinkje · 11/02/2015 16:13

Aww, I think you are all being a bit hard on Olly (Leonardo from the CBBC programme). I think he's quite shagg-able if a little young.

motherinferior · 11/02/2015 16:30

Yes, it would be possible if obviously pervy in a woman twice his age to imagine rogering him to a comatose and happy sleep...
