Looking at the lj fan reviews, they too are moaning about the lack of actual Musketeers. Although presumably being a bit younger, missed the significance of the steam treatment.

No idea re the 44 men. Even bringing all subs on at once wouldn't get you that many. As far as I know, they're only showing the one match. I'll be out though, getting a bit tipsy.

^the stakes have risen significantly as the series looks to more heavyweight storytelling.

If it can achieve this without sacrificing the lighter elements that make the show a fun watch, the groundwork has been laid for a strong run^

I agree with practically all of what's been said about last night's episode: too much kingy and queenie, too little musketeers, too little humour and irreverence. I hope they pick up their game soon.

We were supposed to be going for a wintery walk but there's something on tv about motorbikes and riding them fast so the men are glued to it and we're not going anywhere for a bit.

I liked last nights ep too. Yy re: excellent porthos-samara scenes (porthos being all in pain and brave, samara not giving a fuck), and v glad she wasnt a love interest like boring lucie.

On re-watch number 2. The music, in the marketplace is beyond awful.

Did anyone else think, rochefort was hilarious last night? I may be taking this the wrong way but I think he is totally playing the bond / panto villain thing for laffs. Was watching with dp and we laughed out loud at the prostitute scene ("you will find your clothes in there...and...a crown") and when he said "I love you!" to queenie in a strangled high voice with his little stary psycho eyes popping out of his face.

The best thing about episode 3, agreeing with other posters is:
Milady, as they kneel down to pray, just about to POP out if that dress.
And then when Anne sees king crawl out from table, Milady sheepishly pops her head out from under the tablecloth.
Brilliant.

Marguerite has a shitty end coming her way. BIATCH.

It's about 15m30s in. Rochefort is saying he needs to be near Queenie (creeeeeeeeeepy) and that the Dauphin is seriously ill and Spanish Ambassador says "Marguerite should know this". She's a bad'un. Will she sacrifice herself though for Aramis? Am I reading it all wrong? (Entirely possible)

I reckon the whole series is gearing up to a massively satisfying "yaaaaaay!" climax when rochefort and miladys plans finally unravel and treville and the musketeers are publicly vindicated by kingy and queenie. And treville twats rochefort. Really fucking hard. But this wont be RIGHT til the end.

(worrying frantically though about how things are going to pan out for aramis. Cannot see any way they could turn out other than bad, really bad, or really REALLY bad.)

Have finally found a bit of signal. Was hoping rugby would be cancelled today but it's all on. Bloody sport. Ruining things.

JP on Twitter has replied to someone asking about S3 'you might just get one'. So all is not lost. .

I also really enjoyed it. Obviously the 'story arcs' include more characters this time but I suppose they have to try and add some complexity to the narrative. It would be dull to keep on the 'musketeer a week' format. This is getting much deeper into the politics and I for one quite like that.

I also agree with MrsB that not all the S1 episodes are as good as a Knight takes Q. Also, some episodes get better after a few 10 rewatches. I was never originally that keen on the Savoy episode now it's one of my favourites.

I think it has changed, but I trust adrian and I think perhaps they will get good reviews from those watching not utterly obsessed by the men in leather. We've been poring over each episode and picture for a year. Others haven't quite got the same expectation that this group has.

Lots of my twitter feed is Athos centric so I've seen a lot of 'not enough Tom' but also lots of very pro Ryan stuff.

Im also in for watch 3 tomorrow.

I'd say S3 is a given with a comment like that!
