Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

I knew he would plead NG as soon as she said 'I just have to hear him say it' to Miller.

I thought 'well that means he won't then or what's the point'

hackmum · 07/01/2015 17:19

AuntieMaggie: "I thought it was pretty obvious that Joe was going to plead not guilty with the amount of build up with everyone arriving at court."

Me too. Imagine how deflating it would have been if he'd pleaded guilty. Everyone would have gone, "Oh, that's good, shall we all go and have a cup of tea?"

It also occurred to me that Joe was covering for Tom, but didn't we actually se Joe kill Daniel in the last series? It was an actual flashback, wasn't it, as opposed to just something that was shown as he was confessing.

hackmum · 07/01/2015 17:24

Apologies if anyone has already mentioned this, but did people notice that Dan's date of death is given as being in July 2013? After the first series had aired?

Why did the vicar have Danny's(??)/someone else's computer?
(In the last series)

Rollergirl1 · 07/01/2015 18:57

wooolyjumpers : Yes you're right, Ellie said it to Pauline Quirke when it was revealed that her husband had abused and murdered their daughter.

Rollergirl1 · 07/01/2015 18:58

Also wasn't the argument between Danny and the postman something to do with the drugs that Danny was dealing?

I stand corrected Smile

ArabellaStrange · 07/01/2015 20:48

Danny was dealing drugs?!? Missed that!
I remember he was helping thingy (plumbers assistant, looks like Joe) with poaching but drug dealing?

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 07/01/2015 20:49

He wasn't dealing drugs was he? He got the money from Joe.

LIZS · 07/01/2015 20:53

There was something about dodgy diesel being traded too. It was July when Danny died iirc , the day of sports day at primary school, then the investigation went on over the summer and into Autumn term.

ChuckNovice · 07/01/2015 20:55

Like the theory of it being Ellie's son, Tom who dunnit and the dad protecting him and taking the blame

ChuckNovice · 07/01/2015 20:59

The vicar knows something. If people go for confession does the vicar have to tell the police....? Or maybe that's just Catholics. I dunno. Can vicars be confided in without having to disclose information? If that makes sense.

Rollergirl1 · 07/01/2015 21:04

Well didn't they find cocaine under his bed along with the money? And wasn't there something like he was delivering the coke to the Aussie hotel woman whenever she had a guest that asked for it? Or was that the sister and her boyfriend? It's all a bit hazy!

I think Tom might have killed Danny.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 07/01/2015 22:03

Just watched silent witness with who I think plays Tom in it.

eddiemairswife · 07/01/2015 22:16

C of E does have confession, mainly in Anglo-Catholic churches.

Hiding it or repressing it.

whoneedstosleep · 07/01/2015 22:57

I've just watched series 1 over the last few days then watched this one tonight.

Up until the very end of season 1 I thought it was Tom and someone had covered for him.

The drugs was from Dannys sisters boyfriend to give to hotel owner Becca.
The £500 was Dannys from Joe.

I fear that Mark and Tom meeting might be 'an eye for an eye'. You killed my son so I'll hurt yours?

katese11 · 09/01/2015 19:14

I thought the poaching thing was going to be far more important than it was...They kinda introduced it then dropped it. What happened on that paintballing trip??

Ellie never lied about Tom and Danny falling out - Rory said he informed the parents but the implication was he told Joe and Joe didn't pass that info on to Ellie...An early clue that he was up to no good.

Someone much smarter than me suggested there was a parallel with "Jude the Obscure" (newsagent said he was reading that the night of the murder) and that had a murderer who was a child...

newrecruit · 09/01/2015 20:08

Ah, I remember the Jude conversations. We all got very excited and thought Tom or Chloe did it.

I think is was just a bit of a Wessex thing though. Dorset, DCI Hardy etc. rather than plot clues.
