An interesting article about how the ratings work:

The Musketeers Only - A Quick Ratings 101

MiladyBeaWinter · 03/01/2015 18:20

And fecking Graham Norton! Why no GN Show? it couldn't possibly be that they would hate it and not play along

They were on the One Show last time. Need to up the promo ante though I agree with Apricot that the important thing for the BBC is international revenue. They need to realise that an engaged and enthusiastic home fan base helps to promote internationally. Look at Twitter etc

Been looking at the BARB stuff. Apparently the accepted industry view on watching via tablet it just 2% of audience. That seems utter bollocks to me. The TV is used for DVDs, CBeebies/CBBC, Channel 4 news and the occasional other programme like Musketeers last night / Strictly while it was on. But only when I'm watching as its screened. Otherwise it's iPlayer on the iPad, usually in the kitchen. That's how I watch most of my TV.

I'd only done the tablet. Once DH fucks off back to work on Monday his desktop can watch it too. Repeatedly. Grin

I don't understand why the BBC don't promo it when they spend the money making it, seems really really bizarre.

FWIW, I prefer the Friday night slot. I like it being on later, because it gives us a chance to get the DC into bed before its on, and I like that it isn't competing with uniform sorting, clearing up from Sunday roast etc.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/01/2015 18:33

I know people in Belgium who watch it, so it does have a presence outside the UK which is good for the prospect of another series I guess.

LaComtess · 03/01/2015 18:33

Evening wenchi

Brrrrrrr cold and wet and come home to heating which doesn't seem to be working properly... Thermostat fucked possibly.FMH (heating).

Trying to work out what to wear tonight.

Smut Grin yes I do have a lovely coat. Get one next time, it's all worth it.

Helen excellent news ref Good Omens. Haven't finished it yet, 2 more episodes to go but so far I think it's been done really well.

Ref ratings I'm not surprised really. I think Fri is a very odd time slot. But at least worldwide are snapping it up so I'm sure it'll more than earn its keep.

I'm off to twitter for some Tom perving,

Oh and Elk: we are indeed as one (cf Manchego). And that cat in the hat on Twitter made my fucking eyes sting I was laughing so much.

AnneOfAramis · 03/01/2015 18:34

The One Show is one of those programmes that even if you don't watch you might just have on if you know what I mean. It's at a time when people come in and might be tired and just zone out before dinner etc, pre/post DC bedtimes zone out. My mum watched the last series after seeing them on The One Show.

08.50 on a weekday morning catches a bit of a random audience.

AnneOfAramis · 03/01/2015 18:35

I like 9pm better but not so much Friday.

LaComtess · 03/01/2015 18:37

Oh and Leaping Grin. I love those sort of stories. Does your Dh know? Grin

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 03/01/2015 19:01

I think that "what-what' exchange between the Greasy Haired and Athos is brilliant. My favourite

FancyFancy · 03/01/2015 19:11

Really, this is getting to be a daily occurrence Angry

He. Is. Perfect.

MrsM that's brilliant Grin.

Still don't know what to wear. Hmmmmm.

MrsMinton · 03/01/2015 19:18

It's another gift from tumblr, the place just keeps on giving today Grin

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 03/01/2015 19:19

You do know it's Too Much Product don't you Drink?

This is why he needs me in his life.

Can everyone who's on Twitter join in with Elk's & my pointed tweets at the BBC? We need whoever did the BJ tweets to sit up & take notice. I haven't finished listening to it yet, but Adrian's podcast basically said ^everything we just said. Gah.

Fucking Benidorm. SEVENTH shitty series.

Oh - and presence abroad - it's been sold to SEVENTY countries Grin Please God let that be enough for S3. Though it could end up with even more zero promo here while they spend ALL their time gallivanting overseas with foreign frigging fenches

MrsMinton · 03/01/2015 19:20

Comtess what sort of things can you wear?

FancyFancy · 03/01/2015 19:20

Excellent link on ratings apricot thanks. Do we need to download or just watch does anyone know?

Agree that 9pm is a better time, but Friday is not a traditional night for drama, it's always been bigger on comedy & chat shows - presumably aimed at the post pub crowd, whatever time they're getting home. Saturday and Sunday have tended to be the family drama nights.

And the lack of promo hasn't helped - hardly anything before Christmas when people might have noticed. I've seen very little promo over Christmas & suspect I'm not alone - if I'm a guest or hosting, the telly mostly goes on for specific programmes & then off again, so I see very few trailers or breakfast/magazine type progs

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 03/01/2015 19:20

I still haven't got round to all those Tumblr links!!! FMT.

That is HILAIRE.

MrsMinton · 03/01/2015 19:21

Sparkles you need a good bit of time to look and the Febreeze for the chaise Grin

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 03/01/2015 19:22

Oh - & if the foreign gallivanting is looking likely we're bloody doing a Wench World Tour.

AnneOfAramis · 03/01/2015 19:27

Just so you know Sparks, I am IN

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 03/01/2015 19:33

Hmmm Mrs Minton, I'm thinking I need a bit of alone time to get maximum benefit.

FancyFancy · 03/01/2015 19:37

World Tour sounds good

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 03/01/2015 19:38

Looks like this World Tour is going to be doing a long stop-off in Germany then Grin

MrsMinton · 03/01/2015 19:38

Yes alone time would be good. I'll go on a WWT (wenches world tour) too.
