Just a thought - I'm not so sure that S3 getting the green light depends on UK viewing figures though they will be giving the BBC an indication as to how well S2 is being received by audiences here. I suspect - and I may well be wrong - that as much if not more depends on how well S2 sells at the forthcoming BBC Worldwide showcase in February. If ALL of the countries that have taken S1 then take S2 perhaps that will be the catalyst.

The BBC earns nothing extra out of the UK audience as we have all paid our licence fee and that's all they get from us and we then get the programme anyway. Countries like South Africa and France where the cast recently promoted and other countries across Europe actually pay the BBC.

Yoyo ma wenches. DD1 birthday today (7!!!) so been busy but caught up. Is it Friday yet?

Two things -

1. Series 3 will happen - for overseas audiences if nothing else. I suspect the reason why no not a lot of money/effort has been spent on promo over here, is because they're not really counting on the U.K to keep them in business, so it's all happening anywhere but here.

2. Tom won't do series 4 or beyond, so what's the frigging point in anything series 3 really will be the last wraps beads from tree around neck jumps off mantelpiece

I also think series 3 is on the cards. Musketeers is BBC Worldwide's second biggest seller . They're not going to pull the plug on a moneymaking winner imho

1. Ohmer....Tom won't give up acting after season 3 moi lubber. You'll still be able to scratch your itch. And now he's had his big break and been discovered, we can look forward to him hopefully getting his kit properly off in more delicious and starring roles

Carolina and Kate yes, agreed, and I said earlier that I thought S3 would go ahead because of overseas sales, but I also think that the rest of the world will base their decision on whether to purchase S2 not only on popularity in their own countries, but also on how it goes down in this country, so if our ratings are bad they may not feel inclined to go ahead. Therefore, anything we can do to get our ratings up can only be a good thing.

Am I right that S2 has already been purchased by America, or is that wishful thinking?
