Don't think it was tony or why else would he keep dragging it up. He would let it lie

Mark. Who knows. Not sure about the swapping ollie/James /wrong child thorey

Tho agree child looks happy waves from window and not upset.

Flibbertyjibbet · 09/12/2014 10:12

It's Tuesday! !
Yy to Baptiste looking like defoe in some oils, couldn't put my finger on it before.

Reading reviews etc when the series started, we're told that it's about the emotional fallout after a child disappears. So it may not be a whodunit with a clear ending.
Tony and Emily s marriage collapsing. Emily settling for a man who she doesn't seem to love deeply, but he offers her the family life she lost.
Tony losing everything and becoming increasingly violent. In 2006 he had a good job and now dresses in old worn clothes, in need of a haircut.
I am not sure the final episode will be as clear cut as finding out what happens to the boy. It might be more like each of the main characters finding some closure for themselves.

rebelfor · 09/12/2014 11:22

Going to have to wait until around 10:30pm before I can watch Angry.

Liverpool are playing tonight and my partner has just rang to say his nephew is calling this evening to watch it.

Can't believe I will be over an hour behind this thread too Sad

Chefpepperjack · 09/12/2014 11:54

Can't wait for tonight, but I bet we still won't be any closer to the truth after tonight's episode!

NannyHat · 09/12/2014 12:31

I don't think Tony can be directly responsible unless he's suffering severe memory loss, and it hasn't been shown he has memory loss when he commits violence (Greg, Vincent, Garrett).

His version may not be completely accurate. He may have spent longer in the bar or chatted up a woman.

Hotel Eden and the mayor are my prime suspects now.

The evidence that Zaine found in the drain must be significant but not conclusive as I can't imagine either Malik or Zaine sitting on it if it could have led to Ollie being found back in 2006.

mewkins · 09/12/2014 12:37

Did I read write or does Frances who plays Emily say in an interview about the theories on who 'the killer'is.... I can't tell you which of the billions of threads or pages it's on but definitely suggests Ollie is dead! I can't imagine he will be found alive. I think Tony believes he is dead and just wants to know what happened and find some peace.

AuntieStella · 09/12/2014 12:44

That interview, along with other cast interviews, are discussed in the spoiler-friendly thread

Though I think she was describing the nature of speculation on the Internet, not anything about inside knowledge.

Vistaverde · 09/12/2014 12:48

Is episode one of Youtube as I have looked and can't find it?

I just wanted to have another look at the picture found in the cellar. I wonder if it is a clue to who took him?

Flibbertyjibbet · 09/12/2014 12:52

Rebelfor- you need to sort out priorities in your house!!! My kids know that if I say 'you need to be in bed by 9 tonight cos it's mummy's telly time' then NOTHING can alter that schedule.
certainly not a football match!

AuntieStella · 09/12/2014 13:06

It seems to have gone from YouTube (one vid had content completely not as described), another says it cannot be shown for copyright reasons. But has a link to a site that says it has it. But not a site I've ever used and I don't know if legit, or likely to be full of ads/malware.

Vistaverde · 09/12/2014 13:14

Auntie, thank you for looking. That's a shame. There is a copy of the one Ollie did in the car on the BBC website and I was hopig to compare the two to see if there are any striking differences which may hold a clue.

SomethingFunny · 09/12/2014 13:17

Tony doesn't think Ollie is dead. In the first episode, when the family were there and he was talking to their son, Tony said "I have a 13 year old son", not my son would be 13 now. This implies to me he thinks he is still alive. Or thinks he might be. Or hopes he might be. :(

AuntieStella · 09/12/2014 13:25

Vistaverde I think the pix you want are here on this BBC page

MsRyanGosling · 09/12/2014 14:09

No theories just marking place for tonight Xmas Grin

The Missing BBC1- thread 3
plus3 · 09/12/2014 14:32

Marking place, but thought I would let you all know that my DH looks quite a lot like Baptisite (the younger)... Hadn't really noticed until I saw some of the pictures on this thread Grin
Doesn't have a French accent though..

Ellenora5 · 09/12/2014 14:41

I lined my two ds up this morning before leaving for school and college with strict instructions about telly viewing this evening, now they are nearly 23 and 13 but still, it's best to get the rules in early, ds1 started muttering something about "you have a telly in your room", I had to quickly remind him who paid for the sky package (me)

I still have no idea who did what to who but I can't wait to find out, but I'm thinking along the lines of adoption or that Mark is indeed involved, fantastic threads ladies, you will all be qualifying with a detective badge once next week is over Grin

Sheitgeist · 09/12/2014 14:50

I normally have to wait until Thursday or Friday evening to watch, as DH works away and arrives back Thursday evening at 8ish.
However, this week he is away until Saturday, will be off again Monday morning and then return Friday with his DB and DM who will be staying until after Xmas. We'll likely not have time to watch the last two episodes together, so...

AIBU to watch without him tonight? I doubt I could bear to wait until New Year to find out what happened.

(I know, wrong place to ask, but thought I'd get a more sympathetic hearing here!)

Vistaverde · 09/12/2014 14:56

Thank you. Having looked at them I don't think anything obvious jumps out but I am sure the picture in the cellar is a big clue to things

StrychnineStew · 09/12/2014 14:56

YANBU sheit, nobodu has that much self control.

I have all the episodes on Sky Vista, which episode was the cellar picture found in? I can check it quickly.

EauLittleRougeofBethlehem · 09/12/2014 15:01

I watched without DH last night and I don't feel remotely guilty about it Grin He thinks he'll be home in time tonight but if he isn't then I'm not waiting!

I think the cellar picture was at the very end of the first episode, wasn't it? It was quite early on.

OP posts:
Sheitgeist · 09/12/2014 15:07

Yes, it was at the end of episode one... seems like forever ago.

Thanks Eau and Strychnine I shall watch with a clear conscience now Xmas Grin

Dancergirl · 09/12/2014 15:32

The drawing was left in the car so if the garage security was a bit lax then anyone could have got it, copied it and then replaced it. Or the garage staff were involved

This is what I think too. I rewatched episode 4 when Emily collects the car. I think the garage bloke seems a bit shifty. And he said it was a flat battery, why would they need to keep it in for a flat battery??

StrychnineStew · 09/12/2014 15:41

Well I'm looking at the still drawing on the wall.

Big eared (as we knew), sticky up hair, smiley faaced stick man.

That;s all.

AuntieStella · 09/12/2014 15:42

I think they said failed battery, not flat battery.

Not clear what time they broke down, but then they'd have to get to garage and leave them to fit it in round that day's workload, and diagnose and fix. They had a call (before swimming?) that the car would be ready the next day.

Anyone with access to the garage could have seen the picture. But unless laying a false trail, why would a criminal put it on the wall?

Vistaverde · 09/12/2014 15:42

It just seems a bit too convenient that not only did Ollie draw a picture whilst in the cellar but it then wasn't cleaned up. I definitely think there is more to it than the cleaner is letting on.
