Vincent/Molly?

I promise I have read all three threads but can't remember everything that has been posted so apologies if someone came up with this already...

Ian and his wife had a baby boy (Vincent)

Wife knew Ian was a paedo who liked boys so brought the child up as a girl (Molly) to protect him from Ian.

Ian discovered this - and perhaps his wife was going to leave him and take the child (like the 2009 family). Molly 'disappeared' in the night i.e. became Vincent again and was taken away somewhere to be abused by Ian. His wife suspected Ian was involved but had no proof.

Ian had a hold over Vincent - he would hurt Vincent's mum if Vincent talked - Ian's wife and Vincent's mum being the same person. However, Vincent had been brought up by someone else (Sylvie?) and thought of her as his mother.

When Vincent visited Ian's wife in the nursing home, he had not seen her since he was a young child, and didn't remember his early life as Molly, so related to her as he would a stranger. She did not recognise him because her mind has completely gone by 2014.

Oh, and Vincent is not reacting to his medication. Malik slipped a slow acting poison into his drink once he got the information from him. Far fetched? Grin

A new theory du jour:

Ollie left the bar alone, by his choice. He had left his scarf behind in the changing room and went to get it. He was taken from there. The question is whether it was by the Romanian gang or by French paedophiles. And whether anyone saw it happen.

It is possible that Alain is key witness, not perpetrator.

ILovedYouYesterday · 10/12/2014 01:50

The hotel where Mark and Emily stayed in 2009 had a pool.

Did Mark and his family stay there in 2006?

Did Mark arrange for James to be abducted from the pool, telling the abductors to look out for a dark haired English child swimming with his father?

Did the abductors go to the wrong pool?

Can not wait till next Tuesday!

Will cry if it's a fizzly-out-that's-enough-of-that-lets-all-go-down-the-pub ending!

BitOutOfPractice · 10/12/2014 03:48

Do you think ollie has been kept at Eden hotel all this time? Eden ...reference to sin?

Pennies · 10/12/2014 06:41

I don't think Hotel Eden ever had a pool. The hotel where Emily went to where Mark showed her this pics of his son did have a pool though.

mewkins · 10/12/2014 07:26

See I reckon that Alain may have been at thr pool to intercept somehow rather than do the kidnapping. Hence, tortured with guilt, drinking lots and afraid to go to the police. Hmmm

And yes vincent must know something- a key piece of evidence.

Lagoonablue · 10/12/2014 07:29

A couple of times people have mentioned that Mark is an ex policeman. Wonder if this is significant?

R4roger · 10/12/2014 07:29

why did baptiste know the father had kidnapped the boy, must be somethign odd aobut baptiste surely Sad

peanutcookie · 10/12/2014 07:31

I haven't yet caught up with all the posts from last night so pls forgive me if I'm repeating stuff already mentioned. Why was the coin covered in blood when there was no blood at the scene? There was however blood in the basement which sieg was sent to clean. Perhaps he (or someone else) put the coin down the drain near the pool in order to implicate Alain? On the other hand, do we only have sieg's word about what happened in the basement and why do we believe him? Could whatever was in the envelope even be submitted as evidence since the defence could argue that there was so many opportunities for someone to swap their contents? (Fwiw, I don't trust that Mark didn't tamper with it) & who was being dragged off in the trailer for next episode? I. Think baptiste threatening the mayor was a bad move. That line Mark said about it nearly always being the parents shouts at me. As does the line Tony said about always needing to know your father even if he's a monster. Is he talking about himself or his own dad? Sorry awful lot of questions! Will wait til kids at school and I can properly catch up with the thread

I may have dreamt this but didn't someone say:

Mark is an old friend

Who said it?? It was someone in the police station I think. Did anyone else hear it?!

Blessedandgrateful · 10/12/2014 08:22

It was the French woman detective who said that.

Ohmygrood · 10/12/2014 08:27

Emily could also be the Queen Bee.
There are 3 men trying to get to her through the wall that she has put up. I don't think she's responsible for Ollie's disappearance, but I think that she is key.

3littlerabbits · 10/12/2014 08:33

Baptiste got Malik to swap the evidence before giving it to Mark. Baptiste knows it's Mark and was trying to a) lull him into false sense if security so he can trap him b) get him over to France, also so he can trap him!

3littlerabbits · 10/12/2014 08:39

Although I have thought it was Alain from the start. French paedophile ring, covered up by the mayor.

R4roger · 10/12/2014 08:41

i think Vincent will abduct/abuse a boy while on chemical suspension.

Dulra · 10/12/2014 08:42

I have been following the thread but not posted yet, your theories have been way more intersting then the programme! My tuppence worth is that I defo think the Hotel Eden Alain and Sylvie are significant. In 2009 Emily just couldn't stay there it gave her the creeps (obviously because it was where they were in 2006) but I think there is more to it then that. Tony on the otherhand feels some weird sense of closeness to Olly there. In 2009 he said he wanted his old room back because he didn't want to forget but to remember. I think he feels a link to the hotel that goes beyond simply because they stayed there when Olly was abducted. Maybe Olly after the abduction was hidden there for some time right under their noses as they searched for him....In the 1st ep present day he left a message for Emily saying he was back in the hotel eden, the same room the telly is still broken so nothing has changed it is like it is suspended in time.

R4roger · 10/12/2014 08:43

but Molly had red hair, how could Molly be Vincent?

LillianGish · 10/12/2014 08:51

Just reposting my post of November 28 which at the time was just wild speculation, but now appears to be less ludicrous than I at first thought!
Emily does seem to have given up on the hunt - taken James as a substitute son, given away Ollie's toy while Tony is the one who won't let it lie. Returning to my original musings I'm wondering if Greg was perhaps Ollie's real father so Emily has taken him and given him to him which why her dad thought Ollie was at hospice. Ludicrous as my theory is I'm sure the real denouement will be equally ludicrous and not in anyway related to any of the prime suspects (ie Romanians, Victor, Ian etc)
Or of course I could just be wrong again Blush. Will miss this thread as much as the series after next week Grin
