Not sure
Ep 2/3

I am going to watch all again

ihavenonameonhere · 05/12/2014 23:14

Found this about the next 2 episodes...

Episode 7

Tuesday 9 December 2014, 9pm

  1. Three years after Oliver’s disappearance and no significant progress has been made in the case.

  2. Tony and Emily’s marriage is hanging by a thread but then a surprise turn of events brings both Tony and Emily back to Chalons du Bois for the first time since 2006.

In the present day, the information that Tony, Julien and Emily received gives them a tenuous lead. With Tony and Emily back in Chalons Du Bois and finally making progress in the case, there is a thawing in their relationship.

Episode 8

Tuesday 16 December 2014, 9pm

The truth about Oliver’s disappearance finally comes to light, as the action moves between 2006 and 2014.

What does the future hold in store for Tony, Emily, Julien and Mark after all this time? Can any of their relationships ever be whole again?

BeyondTheTreelights · 06/12/2014 09:37

Whore, apparently its about half hour into the first episode :)

HollyJollyDillydolly · 06/12/2014 13:57

Ah will we get to see what what on in 2009? Hope so.

Whoreandpeace · 06/12/2014 18:36

Thank you Beyond, I shall go and have another look.

Am I crazy to hope that Olly is found alive? I can't bear that after all this he is dead. The Americans will hate that!

StrychnineStew · 06/12/2014 18:54

Am I crazy to hope that Olly is found alive? I can't bear that after all this he is dead. The Americans will hate that!

It seems a bit unrealistic to think he would be alive after 8 years, but Jaycee Duggard and Natascha Kampusch spring to mind.

AuntieStella · 06/12/2014 18:58

Well, if all the cast's comments are right, and the solution lies in the first episode, then Baptiste said that in cases such as this, 'we either find immediately, or not at all'

StrychnineStew · 06/12/2014 19:09

I think that is the general rule for missing children, sadly.

StrychnineStew · 06/12/2014 19:19

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, of the children abducted by strangers, 75% are killed within the first three hours in the USA.[11] Amber Alerts are designed to inform the general public quickly when a child has been kidnapped and is in danger so "the public [would be] additional eyes and ears of law enforcement".]

I'm having withdrawal symptoms!
So glad there is this forum!!
Couple of things going through my head (I'm lying... I think of nothing else;))
Mark... Planning a wedding. Seems happy enough in his relationship but has given up his job and lied that he has been promoted. Not even hinted at the former to Emily. Is this because he is a 'special' cop and so moves off jobs & onto another but can't talk about it?

Was he (James) the actual target?

Has the whole evidence part of Ollie being in that house been faked? It wasn't 100% him in the window. Bit blurred. The picture could have been drawn by someone else. Why was it left ? The cleaner - who asks no questions , happy to gets rid of all the blood but decides to be a bit of a devil and leaves some evidence? Why would he do that?

Also the police man who let Ian into Tony's cell -Ian referred to him as his mate- he looks like the guy at the pool in episode 1.

woodlysmum · 06/12/2014 22:49

Has anyone read this interview with Tcheky? Doesnt sound like Baptiste did it!?

BeyondTheTreelights · 07/12/2014 09:44

I think he was in the house, there isnt enough time left imo for the scarf/charity shop records and picture in the basement to have been faked and for it to be figured out too. Especially when all the series has been about following that lead, it would seem stupid to have it all faked when no other alternative has been given alongside it. Iyswim?

AuntieStella · 07/12/2014 09:53

I's always thought that as a general rule, when too many people are involved, conspiracies fail, because too many people would know too much.

Small 'conspiracy' ie actions of a criminal gang, do work because the shadowy boss can pay people well and violently deal with any slip up, to ensure the rest do not. But starting to involve a family for their basement, a charity shop for records stretching back years, a household opposite for a tape featuring many people?

Now, we're not seeing the footslogging part of the investigation, but the people on the tape must have been interviewed (at minimum those who handed it in, but also probably all those identified as at the party in case they remembered something). And the tape had relevant sections enhanced - surely a process during which tampering would be spotted.

marking place, and will go and read, hopefully some of these spoilers may make it easier to understand Grin

I will be delighted if a 2nd series happens! Best thing on tv for ages

Was Ollie definitely wearing the scarf when he was taken?

The scarf trail could be a red herring?

Posted on original thread but deleted in case too spoilery Confused.

Anyone still confused by grey haired men, the Dauly Mail have a who dunnit style article that might help www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2863741/As-TV-thriller-s-gripped-nation-reaches-climax-s-MISSING-kidnapper.html

Definitely think the hoteliers have a big part to play. And dislike Mark very much. Just hoping it's wrapped up satisfactorily with a second series looming.

SolomanDaisy · 08/12/2014 09:16

Like everything else the Mail prints, I don't agree with their odds! 2:1 on Tony? There's virtually zero chance it was him. And they don't even mention MN chief suspects the hoteliers.

I was getting convinced by the arguments on here about Alain, but then I saw the first episode again. He doesn't even really look at Ollie, let alone talk to him, when they're checking into the hotel. He also doesn't speak English. So I think it's unlikely that Olly would have been easily persuaded to go off with him.

Lolly12 · 08/12/2014 09:49

They've totally plucked those odds from thin air.

AuntieStella · 08/12/2014 10:06

Well, Labrookes haven't any TV odds on their web page apart from Strictly and X Factor, and Oddschecker doesn't list this programme either, so it probably was made up for the article rather than being done properly.

For those who don't want to click a DM link, they have:

Tony 2:1, Ian 4:1, Mark 5:1, Vincent 10:1, Ziane 10:1, Sieg 10:1, Georges 14:1, Baptiste 25:1, Emily 33:1

AuntieStella · 08/12/2014 10:18

My theory of the day is that it was Sieg. He was low level local French fixer for the Caid, but also a member of the local paedophile ring.

The Caid was doing something else shifty in the house, involving Mark and the boy at the window was James.

Sieg was called in to clean up the Caid stuff, and planted the scarf and the drawing (he had a yellow rag in his cleaning box, and there was crud under the stairs, so would Ollie really have reached the back of the alcove to draw on it, even assuming he brought or found something to draw with), and he hoped to implicate those who had been in the house that night.

He was watching the road by the park simply because he wanted to return to scene of crime, because he knew he was missing something incriminating and was just waiting until the police left to go and look, or he had something in the back of the van that he wanted to hide at the scene after the police had left.

He only gave minimal information to the Hughes (and in such a way to incriminate the Romanians) and only after Baptiste told him it would be inadmissible because of the bribe.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/12/2014 14:30

Silly odds and probably none of those lol

noddyholder · 08/12/2014 14:33

I think its Mark 100%

SolomanDaisy · 08/12/2014 14:39

The BBC have the cast list up for the final episode. Ian isn't on it, so presumably that rules him out. Vincent, Mark and Alain and Sylvie all are though. As is the mysterious Monique. Maybe she does turn out to be Molly?
