Yes a passport or ID card would work.

FlorenceMattell · 04/12/2014 19:21

When Baptiste was attacked, I think Mark took the envelope and exchanged whatever was in it. So that's why Baptiste didn't realise that Ziane had found any evidence at the pool. Ziane would have told him because he didn't want him to find out.
I think Mark is british secret service.

AuntieStella · 04/12/2014 19:39

Why would dropping a passport on a public highway be so suspicious?

Anyone in Chalons could have gone along that road. And the presence of an item does not really give enough info about when it was dropped, so I don't think that just something linking an ID to an unspecified time on a road is incriminating enough.

But something about it made Z bag it immediately, and pass it to Suri. What would he need to see, not just be told about?

Sieg was watching the road, and I think the natural assumption is that he was keeping an eye on the police operation. This might or might not include waiting until they had moved away to retrieve an item known to be missing.

Question: did that road junction have a road block in the aftermath of the abduction, or be a control point for people entering the town in the immediate aftermath (remember Emily's parent's arrival). Did someone put something in the drain deliberately to hide it when stopped at that junction?

Or was Ollie transferred between cars there, and something dropped by someone during the transfer? Less plausible I think, as that would mean someone missed an item and could narrow down its location accurately enough to send Sieg to find it and clean up.

I was wondering if Malik dropped something, and Ziane recognised it as his (hence saying that he was now free of obligation, because at that stage he believe they had reached an M.A.D. state). But as Sieg works for Caid, I think that idea would fail.

AuntieStella · 04/12/2014 19:43

"I think Mark is british secret service."

Regardless of how weirdly he arrived off holiday, he stayed as LO for the case. I think he must be a copper, as he was so visible during the enquiry. But he could have been special branch and involved in sensitive (possible transnational) policing operations.

ArsenicSoup · 04/12/2014 19:57

Yes. 'They' sent him to retrieve something but he didn't get a chance.

"I am a bit confused re envelopes, what was in the large padded envelope Baptiste was holding when his leg was broken?"

We don't know for sure. Ziane certainly believed that it contained something incriminating about him, bad enough to risk everything in the attack on Baptiste. But we don't actually know if his belief was well founded.

(Nor do we know when he went to prison, nor for what. It could all flow from this incident, if the envelope contained Charmataine allegations/evidence. Or it might be something else, designed to scare Z back into compliance, but not actually wreck his future. It's bad practice to burn your sources, if you ever want to have sources again; but in a grubby world a game of chicken over powerful information could look a lot like this).

I may have spotted yet another grey haired man...
I don't recall it being mentioned yet, in the most recent episode Seig got out if the cleaning van to go into the house where Ollie was kept, as he does so he crosses paths with someone.
Who was it? &
Does it matter?
The someone could have been coming from the house? Only see him from behind and it may be nothing but its no fun not picking at every little thing!

On another note maybe the house opposite (that had the footage from the party) will come into play again in the coming episodes? Who were those people and who had the video camera?
Could someone we know have been in the house opposite?
Vincent? Monique? Sarah? Molly? Mark!?
please excuse me, I have gotten carried away in my excitement /obsession!

FayeFruitLoop · 04/12/2014 21:27

Why did Carl seig say "the boy"

How did he know it was the boy at the time who left the drawing?

Doesn't that mean he saw Ollie? Otherwise if he did clean ups but wasn't told what went on as he says... It could have been anyone (as far as Carl seig knew)

Yes Charmataine and Ziane look really alike!

AuntieStella · 04/12/2014 21:33

There are lots of loose ends with Sieg, and I'm a bit surprised Baptiste asked him so little (unless that is evidence that he's a baddie?)

He didn't know himself that there was a boy there, for he never saw him. He wasn't asked when he got the call telling him to go to that house. But he was there at some time in the Sunday morning (do we know what time?), and can describe blood in the cellar, near the drawing on the wall.

I don't see why he thought Ollie was removed from the house whilst he was in it, so no idea if that should be relied on.

woodlysmum · 04/12/2014 22:02

The man walking past Sieg who we can only see from the back looks like Alain?!
Just rewatched ep 6 and yes while I was sceptical as to why Baptiste didnt question Sieg more, he also was distracted with the Tony/Ian evidence he had in his bag...so that might explain it. Its not as if the other 2 were asking loads of questions either...

FATEdestiny · 04/12/2014 23:13

Has anyone got any ideas about the blood in the house?

Trunchbull · 04/12/2014 23:19

I thought the man walking past Karl Sieg looked like Georges Deloix!

zzzant · 04/12/2014 23:31

Ziane found something that can identify someone. I really think it can identify Georges. It's his police ID.

AuntieStella · 04/12/2014 23:32

The blood in the house could be Ollie's (it was right by the drawing, so a place where he had definitely been). But it could be from either accident or deliberate injury (probably too much to be nosebleed, unless mixed with water).

Or it could have come from one of the other people in the basement (either accident or injury).

And it might not be human? If something did cause a pet to bleed, I hope it didn't happen in front of Ollie. Though why that should seem worse to me than him witnessing an injury to a person, I'm not sure.

Perhaps it being by the drawing is coincidence, but it matters that it was by the stairs. Did it happen if Ollie tried to get away (getting as far as a window)?

SolomanDaisy · 05/12/2014 08:10

I thought the evidence in the drain was an ID card or something similar, but next week's description is something like 'small progress' being made in the present. An ID card would be pretty big progress. It also wouldn't be something the journalist needed to keep for 24 hours.

Whoreandpeace · 05/12/2014 10:35

Zipped over here from main thread as I have a need to know before it is revealed, sadly.

When Ziane found something in the drain, did he or did he not smash his phone down and break it? Or was that when he got the Charmartaine text? I can't remember without rewatching Ep 1 on You Tube. He must have discovered something that really annoyed him....

AuntieStella · 05/12/2014 10:43

Ziane was on the road. He received a text from Malik Suri (demanding either a meeting or more info, can't quite remember, but demanding) and he chucked the phone down in anger. He then went to pick up the pieces, and whilst bending down, spotted the item he retrieved.

Whoreandpeace · 05/12/2014 10:54

Oh thank you AuntieStella Grin

Chefpepperjack · 05/12/2014 11:47

Whoa- Alain is alive
That changes everything

I assumed he was dead- I think Sylvie said something like 'the drink took him'
But then when she was talking about the sobriety chips she definitely said something in present tense- I put it down to French translation.
But that pic is definitely him.
He is the key.
I'm convinced

spaghettiarms1 · 05/12/2014 12:12

Yes auntie the blood could be from an animal couldn't it? Maybe a fox?
An animal could have been harmed to frighten Ollie /keep him quiet etc
I hope its not his blood, why didn't they ask Seig more questions!

FATEdestiny · 05/12/2014 12:19

Sorry to sound thick, but who is Alain Deloix?

Chefpepperjack · 05/12/2014 12:27

Sylvies husband
The hotelier

I thought it was such an odd scene in Ep 1, when tony talked to him about the football

Whoreandpeace · 05/12/2014 13:42

Please tell me - where was the disheveled Alain seen? In a bar? I saw the link, but where was that bar and what was he watching? Which episode? I have absolutely nothing to do today (I lie) so plenty of time to watch and watch again !
