Mmmhm, I don't know if I could keep completely quiet, if the situation has bothered you enough to share it here it means there is a good chance that at the next provocation, maybe in public, you'll react and that may be impulsive, not necessarily elegantly done...I would "nip it in the bud" as apsara said, by simply telling her that these comments hurt you and put you in an awkward situation, and could she please understand that there is absolutely nothing to gossip about. Make clear that being friendly in the workplace doesn't necessarily mean accepting being target of malicious and unmotivated observations, that this applies to you as well as herself and anybody else. Nobody should dare hinting at this kind of things, no matter what, because it's totally unprofessional.
Once you get this off your chest, at least you'll feel better. If she's really that sad, she may not stop, but it's much more likely that she'll drop her tail between her legs. And you can go back at being your usual self we all like!

apsara03 · 29/11/2014 22:35

ilove so sorry this situation at work is stressing you out. So petty n unnecessary and utterly unprofessional. Don't really have anything practical to add to what others have wisely said.

Ilovelblue · 29/11/2014 22:52

Ladies -there's been some great advice there, thank you so much. I won't launch straight in but I will "wait out" and see what happens on Monday. I do think it's unlikely she is going to let this drop but I am not going to be confrontational until I see how she is first. She is a very sad individual who seems to wallow in self-pity and I think that when she tries stirring up trouble, it's to deflect away from her own miserable existence.

I will keep you posted on Monday!

icemist · 29/11/2014 23:08

I have nothing to add as the very wise ladies have already said what I would do. Massive hugs and I hope she stops it

I'm feeling rather unfaithful to BA/CJ as I am waiting for James McAvoy to come on the JRoss show. To date he has been by far my favourite actor. ;)

AuroraDR · 29/11/2014 23:14

It's not being unfaithful Richtea I am sure CJ/BA will not mind sharing our affections. I am also looking at Jonathan Ross. I agree James McAvoy is another great British actor.

cherin · 29/11/2014 23:28

I can't stand him (but he was apparently a neighbour so I should not say that ;-)

(I have watched ep2 of the fall, and it's getting very interesting! )

Richtea19 · 29/11/2014 23:41

He is certainly not as pleasing to the eye as BA, but just such a fab actor. I saw him in Macbeth and I have tickets for The Ruling Class, yeah!

I watched The Fall whilst ironing this afternoon, crickey I couldn't breath when he went into Stella's room and what is the silly teenager playing at?

Nickel45 · 29/11/2014 23:43

I can't settle and watch anything a teh mo, nothing much grabbing my attention! Probably should find something better to do.
Anyway, long day today, long day tomorrow, off to hit my pit now, night all!

The teenager is incredibly STUPID. But I bet she'll turn helpful for the enquiry.

Urband legend wants that McA is an extremely quiet and domesticated fellow, who drives a very old car, drop his kid to other normal people's kids bday parties, eat ice cream in the local shop etc. That alone deserves some respect ;-)

Morning all. Little one was ill last night so only just catching up on the activity. ilove really sorry you are having issues at work. For what its worth I would agree with aurora and cherin, if the behaviour continues I would have a calm, measures word with her, letting her know that there is nothing going on, that her remarks are upsetting you and could she please stop. Good luck.

Thanks for the pictures nickel and icemist. Have a busy day today. Eldest boy going to a birthday party and have my little sis round this afternoon. Don't they know I have a fourth zombie chapter to write and all the stats to crunch for this week!

SPOfficer · 30/11/2014 08:05

Oh and orphan how did your meal go?

galaxy99 · 30/11/2014 08:56

lloveblue that's an awful situation to be in, I hope things go better on Monday. I agree with the others that your other colleagues will know what she is like and not take her seriously.

I'm spending the morning with the under 9's (not sadly the under5's). Youngest DS has first football match so plenty of opportunity for OGisms. Of course I will be 100% by his side and I'll want him to be brilliant. I just hope I'm not quoting Molly "I don't know what happened out there, everything just fell to shit". Stay focused, stay alert, keep your eye on the ball

Beingfrank · 30/11/2014 09:50

Hello everyone - it's been a few days since I posted but I am still checking in regularly. Life is always very hectic in the run up to Christmas, and this week has been particularly mad.

Decompression not happening yet - I missed my turning to the supermarket the other day because my thoughts were elsewhere! Yesterday "Strong" was playing in the hairdressers and I was transported straight back to the duet scene. There's no escaping is there?

I'm loving our very talented SPOs fanfic. I feel so unimaginative, I couldn't begin to dream up this stuff.

Sorry to hear about your work woes, Iloveblue - you have received some good advice here. Try not to let it spoil the rest of your weekend.

Must go now - back later!

orphan · 30/11/2014 10:25

Morning all and thanks to all my well wishers last night!

Had such a good time despite lack of cabbage on the menu (maybe one or two cocktails too many and the toffee vodka was definitely a step too far) but managed to stay focussed, stay alert (until cocktail number 3) and stay [mentally] with dp.

Only had one little foray into OG obsessing when I told dp about lip biting and he did a hilarious impression of what he thinks CJ looks like. Fortunately, it was meant to be hilarious.

On the subject of The Fall - the stupid teenager is really winding me up now, but my girl crush on Gillian Anderson is well and truly going strong. (I have a serious fascination with her silk shirts - and they're absolutely not the sort of thing I wear).

ilove am so sorry you're having to deal with the cockwomble at work. I understand how things can prey on your mind and I hate confrontation too. Hopefully, she's had her little dig and will now let it lie, but if not, I'd do as others have suggested and just politely but firmly put her straight. Don't let it spoil the rest of your weekend. X

firegirl · 30/11/2014 11:16

ilove I'm sorry about your situation at work but you have had some great advice on here which I can only echo.Say something quietly, and politely, keep your dignity and nip it in the bud. It's so annoying though, because if you have colleagues who's company you enjoy and get on well with, it makes being at work so much more pleasant and productive. And to have that ruined by someone making inaccurate assumptions is so unnecessary. I hope it gets sorted without any hassle.

cherin · 30/11/2014 11:28

Guys, I am laughing my head out. Driving on the motorway. Just passed a couple of elderly bike drivers dressed up as teletubbies. Full kit!!
I must design something similar for DH...stag antlers for his helmet, or something...

Rhubarb01 · 30/11/2014 12:28

Morning! Still here, but a bit fragged!

cherin that is so funny, why do I never see anything like that!

I do hope they are doing it for charity or they seriously need some therapy!

Who am I or the rest of us to talk!

Rhubarb01 · 30/11/2014 12:29

Yes, obviously fragged - its good afternoon everyone - cockwomble!

Rhubarb01 · 30/11/2014 12:35

OK - getting in all my posts in one go. Forgot to say, I am getting really annoyed at the ITV trailers for Broadchurch constantly using the OG music (the Birdy one) Its just wrong! I didn't watch the last series (apart from the first and last episode - everyone kept talking about it so I thought I'd find out who did it) so I think I might gonna miss this series too. I did however, watch 'Remember Me' last week on BBC - that nice Michael Palin acting a little unhinged. Nice and creepy and I'm enjoying trying to guess what its all about. I hope I haven't sussed it already though or that will be a bit disappointing!

Richtea19 · 30/11/2014 13:23

Glad you had a good eve Orphan. It's good to get quality no kids time. Priceless picture Cherin!!
Rhubarb I have been listening to OG sound track all morning, and the Birdy one is a favourite, well they all are!!
I have stag pants and off to BIL party... DS2 at home as so much homework to do, and DS1 at cross country race with the squadron, so quality time with my DH albeit with his family too!

galaxy99 · 30/11/2014 14:30

Cherin fantastic photo - over the hills and far away tellytubbies ride down the motorway

Apsara I had to google the challenges you mentioned last night, as I am only 1 month into my post OG exercise I think if I did that I might gonna need a medic. I asked DH if he could notice any difference, his response was "no". I think he must have went to the same school of tact, charm and diplomacy as stressybird's DH

SPOfficer · 30/11/2014 15:17

cherin they are Tinky Winky and Dipsy but as to what telly tubbies they are I have no idea!

monopod · 30/11/2014 15:24

Cherin I love the Teletubby bikers! Orphan great to hear that you had a good time last night. I chuckled at your DP's lip-biting impression; it's fab that he's going along with it!

I was a bit ?? at The Fall this week. Just how implausible?! Although I so like her silk shirts. And of course, because I am totally impressionable, I wore one in homage on Friday. Except it wasn't silk, it was polyester (I think). And the static totally killed any allure. Not to mention the fact that I am nearly as flat as an airport runway so I don't know what I was aiming for. First Molly combats, now Stella shirts... Sigh

Anyway. I've been busy looking at obstacle races and we should totally do this one: www.majorseries.com It's run by Brit Mil Fit I think and if I read if right you get fit military blokes encouraging/challenging you around the course...
