Is there all ready a thread I've missed? Line up looks not too bad this year www.ibtimes.co.uk/im-celebrity-get-out-here-2014-meet-contestants-1475084

OP posts:

Read my last post Alice. You might learn something. Just because kids in Wigan say it doesn't mean it originated from here. Google it and you'll see if you don't believe me. Of course, someone people like to get offended for nothing.

MyOwnJungle · 24/11/2014 23:00

I think we'll all have American accents in thirty years time. Not losing sleep over it.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 24/11/2014 23:01

bobbyjoe aw, are you channelling your inner Edwina? Grin I don't think I'm too interested in "learning" from your biased views, thanks. I actually am pretty familiar with America. But hey, you feel free to try to put an education bent on "ewwww orginated from America" if you feel you must. Hmm

MyOwnJungle · 24/11/2014 23:03

Bobyjoe, thanks for the mansplanation.

Kendra has a really bad relationship with her mother apparently. They don't talk at all.

bobbyjoe · 24/11/2014 23:11

But you were both being so obtuse in saying my kids say it so it can't possibly be American! I'm not male so not sure what you mean by mansplanation. And yes oh my gawwdddd is how Americans would say oh my god, why you had to get so indignant about that I've no idea Grin. Just typical mumsnet looking for insults where none was meant. Google ewww Alice you'll find I'm right about where it originated from. I wasn't trying to insult Americans (although why you would think that I don't know). I was just stating a fact. Anyway I'll leave you to it. Oh and MrsJayy of course just because her dad was presumably rich doesn't mean her background was fine. One doesn't always equal the other.

EmilyGilmore · 24/11/2014 23:20

Kendra is self-absorbed, I believe she does live her life for herself, in every scene she's talking about herself, her woes, her trials, her socks. Even that thing about getting them all into the pool had to be about her. Does she show any interest in the rest of them? Trash-talk and swearing seems about right, I think she's got a real mean streak.

Edwina though - she's a piece of work for starting that. She's awful. And someone get her a plaster for that wound on her shoulder!

Mrsjayy · 24/11/2014 23:20

I feel we need an awkward campfiire to sit round Grin

AliceinWinterWonderland · 24/11/2014 23:26

And someone get her a plaster for that wound on her shoulder!

Has she actually said what that is?? I've been wondering..... Confused

AliceinWinterWonderland · 24/11/2014 23:30

I feel we need an awkward campfiire to sit round Grin

NO! No way! Fuck that! You go lay down and go to sleep like you belong!!

Don't you understand it's all about ME?!!?! I was POURING my fucking HEART out here!! Hmm

Don't they get it? I was being fucking INSPIRATIONAL here!

Grin Is that better Mrsjayy?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 24/11/2014 23:49

Anyway you selfish bitches, I haven't seen DH for an hour so I am going to get all emotional and weep about how I must see him now because I miss him so much and I don't think I can cope being so far away from him for so long. He is upstairs! Will no one think about how hard life is for me????

clam · 25/11/2014 06:56

Looks like psoriasis to me.

Fullpleatherjacket · 25/11/2014 11:48

I take back liking Kendra. Any comedy moments must have been completely unintentional. She is self absorbed, self promoting and clearly can't brook being crossed.

I think she expected Edwina to cave and was surprised when she didn't hence the escalating dramatics.

I think Edwina is getting bored and thought she'd have a bit of fun although I don't think she expected such an extreme reaction. Great how she's taken it on the chin though and not dissolved into the usual 'I was misunderstood' sobbing wreck.

MyOwnJungle · 25/11/2014 11:54

Bobbyjoe, I was only being lighthearted when I said 'my kids must be American then'.

I referred to your explanatory paragraph as a mansplanation which was unnecessarily supercilious, so apologies for that. I am already interested in the evolution of language and so felt that what you were saying was not information but so obvious. Hope that makes sense. {white flag}

R4roger · 25/11/2014 11:56

people who vote for who does the trials, do you vote for ones you dont like? ones that dont like the trials
or ones you like

it often follows that a particular person does a load of trials and then gets voted out! is this the case with Kendra?

AliceinWinterWonderland · 25/11/2014 11:58

I'd be curious how many people actually vote and what the actual tallies are. I know they can't release them publicly as it would most likely out who is probably going to win, but I'd sure love to know. I don't vote though.

PeaStalks · 25/11/2014 12:50

I get that people dislike Edwina because of her history. The fact is she's the only one in there I had ever heard of and I am trying to look at the contestants only on the basis of their performance in camp. Not what they did 30 years ago, or how they were brought up.

I think Edwina mis-judged her intervention but was really challenging Kendra's assertion that you should only do things for your own benefit. Edwina wanted to promote debate but made the mistake of thinking intelligent discussion was possible with someone like Kendra.
Kendra's response was vile, aggressive, threatening and offensive and I wonder what she would have done if others had not intervened.

I think Foggy is scary. He looks angry all the time.

MirrorMirror · 25/11/2014 13:08

I'm not a fan of Edwina but Kendra' s foul mouthed abusive response did seem a bit ott but I imagine everything in there is magnified and reactions are greater than if the same thing had happened outside of the jungle situation.

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 25/11/2014 13:16

Disclosure. I don't vote on TV shows. Ever.

Edwina wanted to promote debate but made the mistake of thinking intelligent discussion was possible with someone like Kendra. Kendra's response was vile, aggressive, threatening and offensive and I wonder what she would have done if others had not intervened

I agree.
I too think Edwina's bored and thought there might be chance for some stimulating conversation.

Michael engaged with Kendra and said he found her situation interesting, but as a news presenter rather than a politician he sat back and let Kendra deliver her discourse with very little interruption. He gently prompted her for more rather than taking part in a discussion.

Edwina had a very unfortunate manner about her though and Kendra took attack as the best form of defence rather than standing up for her situation.

CariadsDarling · 25/11/2014 13:28

I haven't seen the episode you're all referring to as we're a day behind where I live.

Kendra - someone who I think will unfortunately come to a very sad end and die tragically. She reminds me of Anna Nicole Smith.

Edwina - shameless and no concern for John Majors family.

As for the rest of them - who are they apart from Michael Beurk who looks like a miserable soul.

bobbyjoe · 25/11/2014 13:42

Myownjungle - that 'supercilious' paragraph as you say was also to Alice who couldn't quite seem to grasp language travels. Which you seemed to support the view of when you added 'my kids must be American then' without any hint or irony. Apologies if you already knew all that but Alice clearly didn't. If what you said was as a joke/lighthearted but sorry it was too weak and not obvious for me to get, but thank you for your mansplanation above. I've no idea why Alice was so adamant just because kids outside Greggs talk like that it originated here or why she should get so indignant about it. A non issue.

MyOwnJungle · 25/11/2014 13:52

well i thought the confused face Confused demonstrated humour and irony!

also, it was me that was supercilious reprimanding you for telling us something that I considered most of us aware of! ie, The americaniZation of the rest of the World.

MyOwnJungle · 25/11/2014 13:58

cariadsjourney yes I agree with you. I think Kendra will struggle with ageing. The arguing with Edwina and the way she did it would be a symptom of a really low self-esteem, not uncommon, a lot of people who aren't in the public eye unwittingly rely on material possessions or drama or attention to inflate their egos as well, kendra has various ways to inflate her ego temporarily, everything listed plus pity and sympathy, publicity, admiration, but it's always a temporary effect.

I would like to see her have a few sessions on the psychotherapists couch.

CariadsDarling · 25/11/2014 14:13

We really didn't need to know she had her period. It really was disturbing, an indication of her not knowing that not all attention is good attention.

Its hard to be scathing of her becuase I truly believe she will come to a sad end.

AliceinWinterWonderland · 25/11/2014 15:34

bobbyjoe I don't need you to "teach" me the origins of language, thanks. Hmm Clearly you feel you have the superior education or knowledge. You go with that, if it makes you feel better. I'm not really fussed, tbh. Grin

Cariad heaven's yes, I'm not quite sure why she felt the need to share the information about her period. Ant and Dec certainly beat a hasty retreat after she said that, didn't they? Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2014 15:43

a healthy discussion would have good but seems not possible when young imature starving celebs are about Grin

ive always wondered about the voting, obv you vote for who you want to do trials, its boring when same person keeps being voted if all they do is squeal!!!!

think its only at the end when they say vote for your favm or else would mean people like gillian/jordon/kendra would be in top 3

enjoyed seeing jake and mel get stuck in, did wonder why she didnt drag bins to scales, or were they secured there, she did drop a lot of guts on the floor and thought she deserved 10 !!!!
