Morning all. Given the encouragement I am getting not to give up my quest to be more like CJ I will continue my efforts today. Am due to take eldest DS swimming this afternoon so will practice lounging in the shallow end. Now just need to find my combat swimming shorts....Have also asked DW to add coco pops to the shopping list and have got the first strange look of the day!

Have also caved in and bought the series on blinkbox.

icemist I would say Smurf told his mum very little. He didn't seem to be that communicative in their earlier exchanges. Don't think CJ would have told Rebecca straight away. Relationship still seemed a bit raw in the hospital.

Wish we knew when Canada was. One of the cast tweeted that they were going to see AlexClare in London which is soon. And we don't know if it's a full series or just pilot or one -off episode. us shows usually announce full casts so I would have thought that would be online somewhere. So I figure it's a pilot episode or one-off. Need to check the Canadian websites to see if anything in them now

Do you think we will get anywhere near him at the carols? Judging by all the FB comments of girls/women going to carols I think there will be a stampede! Morning!! Do you think they maybe decided that it would be more dramatic for him to first say molly when he was injured?

Also wonder if her not saying I love you in the final episode was used as character development, in the original drama she rushed in to love and got a tattoo with artan's name. Hopefully it means we can have a second series and see her saying I love you!

re Carol Service- I wonder how many say they are going but don't actually intend to. I just checked and you can buy tickets- not sure how many people can actually go but judging by the response on twitter to Ba appearing and Sam Bailey I kind of expected it to be sold out?

I think the Molly after he was shot was meant to be the 1st time he used her name but must have slipped through. Wonder if TG can tell us?

I was wondering the same thing about asking TG-I still can't hear it!! I've listened with my rubbish headphones and DH's good ones and all I can hear is a sound...it definitely isn't as clear as "Molly" to me!!

You can hear them kissing though at the end and lots of breathing which I couldn't hear before!

In answer to your questions about Smurf, I would doubt very much he'd ever told his Mum about Molly and CJ. I think Mrs Smith would have treated Molly differently on the bench outside the hospital if she had known. I would definitely say he didn't admit to how he had lost it on the final mission to hunt down Badrai. He was quite a cocky individual really, wasn't he, and I reckon it would have been a blow to his pride to confess how he had screwed it up. How would the army have informed his Mum? Injured in the course of duty or something like that?

As for Rebecca, she'd sussed it straight off I think and as soon as Molly said "Ditto", she had the evidence she needed. Presume Rebecca and CJ had "ditto" as one of their own code words.

Am I the only one who is starting to get fact (and by this I mean the series) mixed up with fiction (as in fanfiction). Klipdoctor I think it was had written that CJ confessed to Rebecca that he was seeing somebody else.

No sign of decompression from me as yet.... in fact, with the creation of this third thread, I think I am deteriorating rather than weaning myself off.

At least if there are hordes of women at the carol concert all there just to see BA, it will be good for the charity's coffers! Every cloud and all that....

Would love to be able to come up with some fan fiction. Needs a conversation between Ep 3 and 4!! The ones that have been done just don't do it really. Although I do like klipdoctors account of it.
Some of the fan fiction is awful though. there is one that makes no sense to me

One of those fanfiction stories was so bad that there were tears of laughter coming down my face! Even the cat wondered what had happened. It was about CJ walking through Shepherd's Bush market eating a kebab or some such thing! As if!

Re: Rebecca and the Ditto (sounds like a band!) it was not a normal response from a private to a captain but also it strikes me that Molly's presence in the room so shortly after CJ having an urgent/life saving operation would have been viewed as slightly suspicious. You would have expected family only to be there. Rebecca might have wondered why she was there. Also where are CJ's parents? Wouldn't you rush to your son's bedside if you thought he might die? Oh dear, over thinking again.

Morning all! Posting this on the move as am out all day, but just wanted to check in. I don't like to think 'ditto' was already a code between CJ and Rebecca. I prefer to believe that she just picked up on vibes between CJ and Molly and maybe thought it was an odd thing to say.

iheart I really want you to be able to hear the 'Molly'. It's definitely her name you can hear and it's anguished (or so I like to believe).

Lots of fab posts to catch up on this morning! SPOfficer well done on the stellar efforts. I too like to think that I am as lovely as Molly then always manage to get brought back down with a bump. Need to stop living in alternate realities and appreciate what I've got! Not that I'm not trying surreptitiously to make the most of DH though

I think Rebecca knew, but not because of anything that CJ had said, just intuition. CJ strikes me as someone who keeps his cards really close to his chest - Captain James and army regulations vs CJ-falling-for-Molly; you can see him wrestling internally with how much of himself to give away (that scene when Molly says she doesn't know how she's able to keep her hands off him and then he suddenly closes off and is back to her officer in command after she says if they're a mistake, he just needs to say). It makes the glimpses of him when he lets his guard down so lovely :)

So glad to have found you all, NOBODY in RL seems to have watched it. I have had to casually mention it in passing so as to not reveal the true extent of my addiction. I was even late for a conference lecture on Monday waiting for the Radio 1 interview. This doesn't happen to me, I watch very little TV generally, but the mention of a 'lacuna' since the end of the series really resonated with me. Perhaps I should persuade dearest hubster of a return visit to Bailbrook House (minus small child), purely to reminisce over old times of course

CJ's wife definitely clocked that there was more to their relationship than Captain to Private. I don't think he told her or there wouldn't have been the moment of realisation on her face. Perhaps she suspected that something had changed in the tone of his correspondence or something. Agree ditto is not a usual response for private. She would've guessed.

I get the sense that towards the end of their marriage it was really bitter and sad. Remember how after Molly returns from R&R - the conversation in the med tent and Molly says something about how she couldn't wait to leave as she found the normality difficult (sorry can't remember exact words). He says "what, so you're glad to return to "abnormal" then?" And folds his arms defensively. I think it may be something his ex had accused him of (out of anger with him for not be able to 'settle').

I don't think Smurf told his Mum about Molly and CJ. If he had I don't think Molly would have been riding in the family car at the funeral and also there could have been the possibility of Smurfs mum confronting them both at the funeral because of her grief.

In Ep5 in the restaurant scene Molly says she's been desperate to kiss CJ since they first kissed - I would have thought they would have been able to have a few cheeky ones when he's in hospital. After all she strokes his hair and holds his hands, he strokes her face when others could walk past and see them. He tells her there's nothing in their way and they don't have to wait out. She could have quickly closed the blinds, had a quick snog and then opened them again. Well that's what I would have done

I would definitely have got a kiss in the hospital. Even a peck! Even with the oxygen tubes in and him recovering from a operation. It was probably a surreal for them both.
