Oh icemist can't you concoct some sort of reason why you'd need to dash out to Toronto on behalf of your company? Even if BA isn't out there filming it'd be a great place to visit.

orphan · 09/11/2014 12:12

SPOfficer am imagining myself pitching in the dragons' Den the idea for a fully flexible CJ doll. Probably would have had to have several meetings with BA himself in order to ascertain certain measurements.

Rhubarb01 · 09/11/2014 12:21

Afternoon all! What is it about Sundays? Too much time to think unlike the rest of the week. Last Sunday I thought I was almost out of re-hab and ditto this Sunday - not too much OG viewing this week, getting on with a few other things and then it hits you, some small trigger and its PCJSD again!

All I did was pop out to the supermarket for a few essentials and the radio in the car was playing "Hopelessly Devoted to You!" Aaagh! A serious case of ear worm developed. "I'm out of my head...hopelessly devoted to you..oo.ooh!", "Now there's nowhere to hide......hopelessy devoted to you...oo...ooh"! Cue sad woman standing before a shelf full of baked beans and sighing, yearningly!

Might gonna have to fight this. Will look for some silly romcoms to shake me out of this. We call these "Silly Sunday Films" in our house.

You are never truly recovered!

SPOfficer · 09/11/2014 12:42

orphan I understand why you would want it to be anatomically correct in order to unsure a quality product.

icemist · 09/11/2014 12:54

I can be help you measure orphan

Card is an excellent idea, add my name

LovingTheBritActors · 09/11/2014 13:07

Cherin/ orphan - so glad other people had Gilbert crush. I sent him my first and only fan mail so far! I should know better now but BA/CJ just gets stronger day by day. Do I need therapy? Found it with this thread. Keep the addiction going.
Just read klipdoctor again. Love it! Has anyone read new chaper from Sleeping Handsome. Helped my imagination.
Another note - remembering all the fallen at all Battles. Our armed forces are amazing.

orphan · 09/11/2014 13:07

Exactly, I would never put my name to a product that wasn't top quality, hence several 'consultations' would be necessary.
icemist I'm sure I'd need someone to assist and check my initial measurementsGrin

ihearttc · 09/11/2014 13:17

Oh dear I googled Jonathan Crombie as well and was expecting him to live up to my childhood fantasies...I was wrong!!

icemist I will offer my services as well to help with measurements! I would love to be able to stand next to him...Im only 4ft 10 so would feel all tiny and protected next to him!

Wycombe123 · 09/11/2014 13:31

Pretty sure that isn't the sort of question the Carol concert organisers would be expectingicemist!!

orphan · 09/11/2014 13:41

iheart I know I was soo disappointed when I googled Gilbert and felt nothing. I spent hours as a child imagining myself as Anne. Do you think in a few years we'll look back at CJ and think 'meh'? Will the doll, bedding, nightshirt, bookmark and annual be shoved in the loft, discarded and forgotten?

icemist · 09/11/2014 13:48

I dunno. Guess it depends what roles he does next.
If I get it I'll always have my autograph

ihearttc · 09/11/2014 13:52

Im not sure...some people get better and better as they get older. I had a huge huge crush on Joshua Jackson in Dawson's Creek and he is a perfect example of someone getting better as they get older.

I spent hours imagining myself as Anne as well...I wanted long auburn hair in plaits and a straw hat on my head.

I think BA will definitely improve even more with age. I personally feel the stubble does it for me...

orphan · 09/11/2014 13:55

Ok now I know I'm beyond all help: I'm actually feeling sad at the thought of an entirely hypothetical CJ doll being abandoned in the loft. (Also made me remember my beloved soft Snoopy somewhere in my loft)

icemist · 09/11/2014 14:08

I think BA will be like George Clooney he really got better with age!
He looks good in combat gear too.... Pity hubby had to give his back when he left his basic training

I'm relieved there are takers for the card idea! Will go through list later. Thinking of buying and posting first class by 2pm tomorrow - should get there by Tues/Weds (though if he's out of the country it probably doesn't matter that much).

Any suggestions re inside message?

Something like:

Happy Brithday Ben!
From your fans at Mumsnet (insert link - all three or just this one?).

We are all fond of Our Girl sir, especially Captain Stern Face and Dawesy. Still not ready for decompression weeks later.

Thanks for a wonderful protrayal and a great show - we're 100% by its side.

Hope you have a lovely day and we look forward to seeing more of your work!

Love from
(our names). Xx

orphan · 09/11/2014 14:29

One of the lines the doll would have to say when the button is pressed is def "What's so f*ing hilarious about Charles?" cos I looove the way he says that line. Something about the way he pronounces Charles. Also then, the doll would obviously not be aimed at children, but 'serious' collectors instead. ( Clearly, I am spending too much time thinking about this bloody doll.)

orphan · 09/11/2014 14:32

My god, he'll have fun reading this thread and then be completely paranoid that out there somewhere is a mad woman who goes by the name of orphan...

threadNneedle · 09/11/2014 14:34

lol my grandad just said 'that's a bit previous' in conversation. I had never heard the expression before OG and it made me (completely irrationally bearing in mind the conversation) smile.

He definitely didn't watch OG

orphan · 09/11/2014 14:37

Perhaps suggest he only reads the link to the threads once he's had a stiff drink..?

PassTheSherry · 09/11/2014 14:52

Hahaha!
Lmao at the thought of a CJ doll that said "what's so fucking hilarious about Charles?" Marketing genius! Grin

Ah, the musings and meanderings of this thread...

My sick relative has asked me what am I doing, smiling and chuckling at my phone. He is glued to the snooker - and it's not really my bag. Have explained am on the interweb chatting to people. "What people?" "Friends"

Probably shouldn't let on that am thinking about cards and dolls with fellow obsessives about a fictional tv show...they might gonna get worried...

Lovely day - taking sick relative out for a bite to eat later. Not at the Baildon House Hotel unfortunately but it'll be nice to get out for a bit.

cherin · 09/11/2014 14:54

iheart I missed Joshua when he was younger but definitely enjoyed every moment of his acting in Fringe (sci-fi series). Albeith the guy that does his dad is so much better than its almost a pity, he put everybody else's acting in background.
(Can't remember his name for the life of me)

passthesherry, lovely text for the cards. Gets my vote. Maybe you can add "read our forum with care. It's fucking hilarious."

Smurfingreat · 09/11/2014 15:02

Count me in for the card too please PTS, think your wording is excellent.

I too have just pissed myself laughing at the doll saying "What's so fucking hilarious about Charles?. Could it also say "Oh how I do adore a keen and eager soldier"?

If you ladies need someone a bit taller to help with the measuring, hold the top end of the tape measure etc, I'd be willing to volunteer my services!

Oh and thanks to SPO for the most recent hilarious update, you sir are a top bloke!

SPOfficer · 09/11/2014 15:30

passthesherry love the text.

Arrrgh all this talk about the CJ doll has started me thinking about my Molly doll again! I think it would need some sort of self preservation device inbuilt which after a time triggered the phrase 'touch me again and I'll break your arm'

MumOfTheMoos · 09/11/2014 15:39

Count me in for the card too please!!

DH and DS are out walking the dog and I am taking the opportunity to go and have a proper luxurious bath - I've got one of those things that goes across the bath (which mostly has toy ducks in it at the moment) that has a book rest on it but I often use for my iPad, so I'm going to sneak in an episode of OG - or at least half an episode - the water might go cold if I watch a whole episode. I may even go and find the remnants of my wine from lunch...

Love the 'What's so fucking hilarious about Charles?' bit for the doll! It's a great line - where he gets all defensive and one of the signals that he's moving from boss to lover, so it's important - but also very funny!
