Am I the only one who thinks the "i haven't had coco pops for bloody ages" is a fantastic double-entendre?? ;-)

Just a thought, it might be worth adding Nick Grimshaw to your twitter as he might post photos on Monday morningGrinGrinGrinGrin

Captains Log is amazing, read it all tonight. Saw it when it first started, but didn't realised it had kept updating, cheers all (can't just say ladies anymore, would be rude to SP). Don't pretend you don't love My Man Mandy at least it's not just me who likes the smutty version

So many wonderful scenes/lines, so much to discuss! I've never been compelled to watch a tv series over and over again. Love reading everyone's ideas/take on things as it's making me view things in a different way - so watching them over and over again can never be boring, can it!? I can see this thread being at 1000 before we know it. Must stop refreshing, and go to bed!

Okay, I'm having an identity crisis. Not mine, but BA's or not BA's. This pic popped up again on the FB page and, having previously decided it is definitely NOT him, I'm now not sure. I spent some time studying his nose this afternoon (yup, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do) and I'm thinking it may actually be the same nose. And then the jawline is about the same too. And the hair is the same hair sort of, maybe after a trim and with plenty of gel. So ... I'm not sure again. If it is him, it was clearly taken after he'd been working out a little more than for OG. I LOVE his body in OG (probably more than this pic, actually) but I'm just really going nuts (what?) trying to work out if it is actually him or not. If it is, why doesn't it crop up anywhere else? And would he really do a pic like this? I can't search on Instagram for some reason so if anyone else can find it and discover some provenance it may help me sleep. (Sorry for appalling pic spam.)

No proof but doesn't look quite right to me .Think that unless BA was on steroids this body shape isn't feasible. Off to hit springs with floor or vice versa. Night all.

smurf yep, guilty as charged, loved it.

And as for the photo, its definitely a possibility, it does look like him but I agree that its just not entirely right somehow. And actually I much prefer photos of him when you can see his face smirking / smiling / gazing longingly!

icemist · 29/10/2014 07:38

I've had that photo for a while and having googled a loooot cannot get it from anywhere to say its definitely him or definitely not. The original photo cam from a website- roblang.photos.shelter.com and is most definitely not something I think BA would have done

icemist · 29/10/2014 07:41

avtually having gone through the photos on that website- there is one of the person face front- its most definitely not BA

Hope these make up for it

SP - blues (No 1s) are dark navy blue. They vary between all the regiments in what they look like exactly but here is a daily mail article of a medic getting an MC... So this is what she would look like!

(Personally I think girls get a rough end of the deal in most of the uniform - the guys look so good in blues but the women's uniform is often so unflattering)

Many thanks for the picture PassTheCremeEggs. Will start to construct that mental image.

I am glad that picture is not CJ as I have started to exercise again to try and regain the flat stomach and toned look I had about 15 years ago and which CJ showed off in the work out scene. I would need a body transplant to get anywhere near the photo!

Read the Captains Log last night (up far too late) and spot on again. So well thought out and researched.

Anyway off to work today so better focus up. Look forward to catching up later!

Yes Smurfing I think I was thinking about what a RL Charles and Molly would do, the lines are getting blurred! I agree any Series 2 has to be army based, partly why I wonder if it shouldn't happen......

I think the BA pic is him. Not hard to get that sculp after a good month or so of training, or touch the picture up.

PassTheCremeEggs - glad you love the cabbage/napkin scene as well! You're right, it's the sheer naturalness of the way the lines are said and also I just love his voice and the way he moves his mouth (oh dear I'm feeling another viewing is in order).
icemist - thanks, that's what I thought though it did make me chuckle when I first watched it and immediately think no good comes from hiding in cupboards. Also in that scene, as I think someone mentioned a while back, you can just spot a photo of his son on the desk next to the coffee machine so it wasn't as if CJ was hiding any evidence. If Molly had noticed it then, it might have prompted some questions. However, when she goes back to clear out his things, the photo isn't there. There are only the unframed ones in the box.

While I'm thinking about the restaurant scene - what good waitress in their right mind would continue to crash in with pouring wine when they were halfway in for a kiss?! Surely you would hang back for a moment!

Another viewing of Ep 5 last night- I will never ever tire of it! Trying not to be bothered by the continuity errors but have wondered about Smurf's ring hanging over top of Molly's uniform when they both go in to see CJ in hospital. What would Rebecca make of it? Did this account for her reaction on top of 'Ditto'. Also no reaction from CJ- too drugged up to notice?

PasstheCremeEggs, one of my closest friends is someone who went through RMAS with my husband - she always says that women's uniforms are a pale copy of the mens'. Where service dress and blues are very flattering on the men, especially if they manage to avoid too much weight gain over the course of a career, they're less so for a female. Mess dress is especially heinous - depending on cap badge - especially the blue taffetta numbers with puffy sleeves worn by some corps and regiments.

I don't think the new FAD has helped either - my husband got his last year and they're the same proportions as off-the-peg suits in high street stores (ie: six inch difference between chest and waist measurement for the tunic) which is fine if you fit that mould. My husband doesn't and when he took it to the tailor to get it altered, they simply couldn't it to fit while keeping the cut accurate. So much for it saving us all money! As he's in one of the units where the colour of the cloth changed, we had to stump up for a complete new set of service dress out of our own pockets. Ouch!

According to my friend the new female service dress is even worse - she plumped for a completely new set from the tailor too.

I think that blues look a bit better than service dress - probably because of the colour which is a bit more flattering.

I wonder how the got the continuity with the medals so wrong?

Regarding continuity in Ep5 when CJ and molly are at the restaurant, they are taking and have coffee cups and no wine in glass, then shortly after when waitress rudely interrupts very nearly kiss, there are no coffee cups and wine in glasses that clearly don't need topping up. I am now watching all episodes so closely! Any excuse Smile

Jcscot, was wondering...are the medals really given at the Palace? By a member of the royal family?? And are you allow to have a guest with you? (I can't believe Molly would bring with her dad! I would have invited CJ for sure!)

Report
PassTheCremeEggs · 29/10/2014 09:30

Jcscot totally agree - DH in mess kit still makes me weak at the knees, but female officers really get the raw end of the deal on mess nights. I wonder if it will ever change.

The MC is odd. Perhaps SP is right and it was meant to be post Palace but they got the uniform wrong/thought no one would notice and they could save on wardrobe budget!

Gallantry medals are handed out at the palace, just like other awards and honours, by a senior member of the royal family. Operational medals are handed out a parades or smaller occasions depending on the unit.

You get to take at least one guest (possibly two depending on how many are being invested) and it would have raised eyebrows sky-high if she took the man who was her OC. It's usually a spouse/parent/sibling or close friend.

PasstheCremeEggs - my husband in mess dress is very handsome (IMO!) but the spurs are a bugger with long dresses! I always thinks it's lovely when you see the men as colourful and peacock-ish as the women at a dinner or ball instead of in black tie.
