... well, depending upon how much we talk!

Carrying on from thread one.

I'm glad for Jennifer too but I didn't like her dress at all, colours didn't suit her at all and the cut was very unflattering, thought the whole effect was aging.

FrankelandFilly · 05/10/2014 21:23

The Pros used to join Strictly as professional couples but over the years one or other of the partnerships have left. Kevin & Karen and Aljaz & Janette are the only actual partnerships left on the show, the others just get paired off by the producers each series.

Behoove · 05/10/2014 23:17

Ah, thanks franke

Username12345 · 05/10/2014 23:45

NNNOOOOO Greg Sad
He was so sweet.

Who voted for Judy and Scott. Terrible.

Icimoi · 06/10/2014 01:50

I suspect there's a tacit agreement that the new pros aren't going to be voted off in round 1 before anyone's had a chance to get to know them.

Everhopeful · 06/10/2014 04:22

Sorry, I'm glad Greg's out of pain and I wish Aliona wouldn't take part if she's going to be that obvious about what she thinks.

I'd like there to be some reflection of the age/knowledge of the slebs in the marking too, as I always feel that the older ones fetch up at the bottom in the early weeks, when they can often improve a great deal with a bit more time. Jennifer didn't dance fantastically, so I wasn't too surprised to see her in the dance off, but she did it SO much better and I was pleased she won. I reckon that Scott's days are numbered tbh, I really don't think he'll get a lot better. Neither Tim nor Judy will win imo, but I think they've more in them if they can hang in for just a couple more weeks. And all three will be so grateful they weren't first off - the standard is higher than normal this year and I reckon that alone is an achievement.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/10/2014 07:27

I'm not sure there are as many 'middling' ones this year - they seem to have split off into good and not-so-good.

The middling ones I can think of are Sunetra, Steve, Mark and Allison with the others 'good' or 'bad' rather than the majority middling with a couple at each end.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/10/2014 07:28

I hope the new pros are in a bit longer Ici, I'd like to see a bit more of them. Mind you, Anya came fifth last year and people still struggle to remember who she was!

They need a bit more chance to show personality too. Everyone knows Brendan and Anton and now Kevin from Grimsby but the rest are just there.
Oh and Aliona is known but not particularly liked.

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 07:58

Is Brendan and Natalie not professional Partners? I wanted Scott to go but glad it was gregg he was to cringey and the cake was all a bit ott he needed to calm down, I liked Jennifer waltz she shouldn't have been bottom,

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 08:01

Are not is

ppeatfruit · 06/10/2014 08:50

I wouldn't put Sunetra in the same class as Alison, Sun is a lot better.

Tess does have very strange taste in dresses; Saturdays' was a wedding dress with cutouts that blended into her hair (giving an odd look) and yesterdays'!! Well shall we say it did nothing at all for her. She has (what used to be called) an hour glass figure ; low large bust and prominent belly which the patterns in the dress just made more obvious.

I don't want to sound mean but she's right in our faces isn't she. ?

FrankelandFilly · 06/10/2014 09:22

No Brendan retired from competing when he split with Camilla (KaplinskyGate). He and Natalie dance together on the show, but to my knowledge they've never competed together.

OnlyLovers · 06/10/2014 09:47

I quite liked both of Tess's frocks this weeks, and usually I hate everything she wears. The white one was lovely IMO.

I'm glad Gregg's gone and hope Scott goes next; he was painful to watch and I'm not really warming to Joanne.

Thom was bad, no hip action, like a plank. TERRIBLE vest and white trews.

Caroline was ace, I thought, but what's with the curtains she keeps wearing? All wrong for a tango.

Mark was OK but the music was NOT right for an AS and I wish he'd worn tails. Love Karen; beautiful dancer.

Frankie was OK but dull and I agreed with Craig that a Charleston should be much more goofy and extreme.

Sunetra was good, seemed to really feel the music. I liked Brendan's routine.

Pixie was overmarked. Too many rondes de jambe; very repetitious. And I'm sure she went wrong a few times.

Jake was fantastic but too many lifts and gimmicks; his actual basic salsa was great (proper hip action) and I wanted to see more of that.

Anton needs to take Judy to a club night and get her enjoying the music and losing her inhibitions a bit.

Tim was quite sweet but I suspect he might be a bit of an old letch. Natalie danced beautifully and looked gorgeous.

Steve was rubbish. Planky. Can't stand his face.

Alison was great; clever choreography, pitched for entertainment in a dance that didn't particularly suit her. She's very musical.

Who have I left out?

ppeat, you can email the BBC. Google BBC Complaints. I write to them every year about Strictly [no life] – about the overmarking, the banging on about lifts, the shit music choices, the dance-off (I don't agree with it), the 'training' videos that are just silly gimmicks ... They always write a polite but 'not really listening' response. Grin

Whoever said people with stage experience have an advantage over sports types, that's not really true – sportspeople often do well and have won. They have other advantages: fitness and stamina, a competitive mindset and an appreciation of how hard they need to work.

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 10:01

Ah ok I thought they danced together I didnt know Brendan had retired c

minibmw2010 · 06/10/2014 10:03

I've just caught up on this weekends episodes ... What the hell happened with some of the outfits? Why was Mark Weight wearing jeans and a jumper while his partner was in a ball gown ??!?

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 10:03

Oh yes (rugby player AND model) thom is dull

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 10:05

I predict week 3 Thoms pecs will becout to distract Bruno and Darcy

ArcheryAnnie · 06/10/2014 10:16

Must say I agree with the "wtf jeans and a jumper" comments. A jumper - even a sparkly jumper - has no place in strictly.

OlyLovers - thems fightin' words re Steve! He's never danced in his life, unlike some of them, and is at least throwing himself into it with enthusiasm.

BeCool · 06/10/2014 10:20

Well JAKE was totally freaking awesome - I loved everything about that salsa. I also through Mark's dance was really very sweet - bit early to be doing American Smooth though isn't it?

I don't have a problem with people with previous dance/performance experience in Strictly at all. They always have a very wide playing field on SCD & the more experienced dancers don't automatically win - you gotta have the 'story/journey' too :)

BeCool · 06/10/2014 10:22

I agree sports people with have a psychological/discipline advantage if not a physical one; Actors can have a massive "performance" advantage.

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 10:27

Yeah its all about the journey on the roller coaster voters get bored of the semi professional celebs dont they ?

OnlyLovers · 06/10/2014 10:44

Annie, sorry but I stand by them! Grin He was rubbish. Will he get better? Maybe ...

Mrsjayy · 06/10/2014 10:49

You know who I miss Erin I loved her and her and Anton waltzes were always beautiful.

ArcheryAnnie · 06/10/2014 10:58

OnlyLovers - I know, I know. To be fair he was, oddly, better on the first dance than the second, and on the second he was, well, not particularly good at all.

BUT BUT BUT he's adorable, and a genuinely good bloke, and has made an actual contribution to society (he's a naturalist) beyond pratting about in light entertainment. And he has truly spectacular upper arms, which helps.
