... well, depending upon how much we talk!

Carrying on from thread one.

I hate that the producers decide. It's basically picking who goes that week in the later stages. For instance if with five weeks left Thom has a rumba and everyone else is jiving away he will be in the dance off for sure.

And now Frankie has done her jive in a week with many other weaker dancers, so when it comes to the crunch she'll be finding a blummin Cha Cha or salsa easy!

Honestly, it's like we can't be trusted to just enjoy a dancing competition.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/10/2014 00:09

I don't know if there's a little bit of choice - a surprising number of female celebs seem to manage to avoid the samba completely. Now there are more dances than weeks, I wonder if they are allowed to decide the one to skip?

I suppose that they can't ALL be doing the same dance (although an intelligent producer would see that it's good for the audience to be able to COMPARE a couple of them).

But that would involve there being a slightly older more thoughtful producer who credits the audience with some sense!!!!!!

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2014 08:29

Did anyone notice that the scriptwriter is trying to turn Tess into Bruce with her comments on the standing ovations FGS.!

Oh I meant to say what a wonderful waltz Joanne and partner (Anton?) did to Donny's song. I wish I'd recorded it, pure beauty Grin.

FrankelandFilly · 14/10/2014 08:33

True Polka, they should never have introduced the Charleston as an option IMHO, it should have been kept as a semi-final dance that everyone had to do.

ppeat, when the show first started for the first few series' everyone did the same dances for the first few weeks, so week 1 half did a Waltz and half did a Cha Cha, then the next week they swapped. Charleston was only introduced a few years ago and in previous years American Smooth, Salsa and Argentine Tango were not danced until much later, usually when there were only 6/7 couples left. Much better that way, I think.

FrankelandFilly · 14/10/2014 08:36

Yes it was Joanne and Anton, thank god they used two actual ballroom professionals who did a proper dance rather than the "music video" style stuff that's been creeping in previously.

Saker · 14/10/2014 09:01

yes I thought they must have a bit of choice, partly because the dances are not particularly well spaced out - e.g we have only had 2 salsas so far and they were both in week 2; perhaps they get to choose between a limited number of dances? I had assumed they got told Ballroom or Latin each week.
I suppose in film week the dances are more dictated by the music.

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2014 09:18

That's interesting Frankel Thanks I wasn't watching at the beginning. I used to enjoy Come Dancing though (is that the right title?)

OnlyLovers · 14/10/2014 09:20

I thought Mark's Superman routine was just NAFF. Embarrassing. Presumably meant to appeal to small boys watching at home? Him being hoisted up into the rafters at the end just put the final nail in the coffin –even a good pro would struggle to make that look good, and he went up all skew-wiff and half-arsed. Fucking stupid gimmickry.

Judy was better but she will surely go home soon. Scott was rubbish but I oddly enjoyed it. Grin I love Joanne a little bit as well. Thom was surprisingly good and I like Kristina and her dancing; her feet particularly are very expressive and excellent placement.

Simon comes across as too cool for school. I don't think he's engaging the audience. Jennifer was a bit rubbish. I'd like to have seen more of Tristan though. Alison wasn't comfortable in that jive at all. Frankie was overmarked IMO. She didn't achieve the proper Spanish lines; her top half was too balletic and graceful. I love Kevin though.

Steve was surprisingly good too and I loved Ola's choreography. Pixie is clearly trained and they're really overdoing the high kicks; several in every routine. Caroline was good but overmarked; I thought there was a lack of working through the floor and therefore of genuine hip action.

I need to watch Jake again; everyone thought he was terrific, so I think I just missed something –I did drift off a bit in the middle of his waltz.

Tim looked unhappy or unwell; not on form at all. Love Natalie though and they had a great song.

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2014 09:29

I feel a bit sorry for Alison; she obviously finds wearing high heels uncomfortable which gives her a heavy look (of course she is heavy and that won't help her). But she does give her best.

I noticed that Tim does the voiceover for Celebrity Antiques Road Trip , which was great yesterday with CRH and whatsername!

TeaspoonAndAnOpenMind · 14/10/2014 09:51

I've noticed the scripting stuff with Tess, trying to get her to have that mild antagonism with the judges that Brucie had, and it's just doesn't work for me. She's a foil, really, not a driving enough character to pull that off. Claudia could probably do it, she's got that irreverent schtick down pat.

ppeatfruit · 14/10/2014 10:20

Very True Teaspoon

Also so funny about Mark's superman being "half arsed' Onlylovers his bum has a mind of it's own Grin

That's a bit of a better tango for you Frankel ignores low bar set so far

OodneedsanOod · 16/10/2014 08:54

I preferred the old half & half dances than the muddle now. It meant we learnt a bit about the dance and could compare a bit easier.

Cherrypi · 16/10/2014 08:57

There must be a reason they've changed it and kept it the way it is.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/10/2014 09:11

I agree Ood. You don't learn anything now, just the odd comment from Len or Craig, maybe a little bit more during Len's Lens on Sunday.

ppeatfruit · 16/10/2014 09:21

If you watch It Takes Two WhoKnows (it's on every evening at 6.30. bbc2) They have a lot of constructive crits. on it ,it's fun and they interview the dancers.

ppeatfruit · 16/10/2014 09:27

Karen Hardy ? and Ian Waite really spell out the way to do the dances. It helps a lot. Oh and CRH on Monday (Obsessed moi? Grin).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/10/2014 09:52

Thanks, I do record It Takes Two but never find time to watch it, plus I'm not really interested in the chat. It would be better if it was just on once a week, like The Apprentice You're Fired thing.

BeCool · 16/10/2014 10:07

Jake and Janette will be performing the Jive to ‘All Shook Up’ by Elvis Presley.

Looking forward to this ^

OodneedsanOod · 16/10/2014 10:22

Same problem here whoknows I'm not keeping up with tv at the moment.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/10/2014 14:56

Watching It Takes Two for the first time. Steve really does have incredible arms.

ppeatfruit · 16/10/2014 16:37

What amazes me most about IT2 is the botox on the pro. girls they all look alike now; it's weird! You can only tell them apart by the hair!!

Oh and the shoes; I admire any girl who wears 'normal' heels or flats, good on yer Frankie !

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/10/2014 08:28

whoknows I often just watch Tuesday and Wednesday, to see Karen and Ian. Sometimes I just fast forward to their bits actually. Those are the ones to catch up on IMO.
