... well, depending upon how much we talk!

Carrying on from thread one.

I think Simon comes over a bit un motivated as if he doesn't really care that much. If he's not king of the heap then it's not worth doing. I am obviously reading far too much into it.

SchrodingersFerret · 12/10/2014 21:43

I get the impression that he finishes a dance and thinks he's nailed it and is sort of surprised and frustrated when the judges say they think he can do better.

JuanPotatoTwo · 12/10/2014 21:53

Thanks Frankel.

Cherrypi · 12/10/2014 22:26

Simon's mistake was saying he wanted to win week one.

CocktailQueen · 12/10/2014 22:30

Hmm, shame tonight. I thought Simon was v unconvincing in his dance - the judges are meant to judge just that dance, not how much they like the celeb! Jennifer was v relaxed in her dance off and I thought she was much better. Hey ho.

Next week please Scott mills in dance off!!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 12/10/2014 23:29

Ah, that waltz was wonderful to watch.

Lovely dress too, I wonder if bigger skirts are coming back into fashion. Has anybody else noticed Joanne's practically always in pink?

Also, while I'm on the clothing front, I'm not sure the coloured/pale trousers and black shoes really help the men. It makes you (well, me) look straight at their feet.

Simon didn't really deserve to be in the bottom two, but he doesn't come across well. I'm sad to see Jennifer go so soon, but it was pretty inevitable really. She genuinely looked like she was having a ball last night and always seemed to be smiling.

So who do we predict will be leaving next week? Judy? Scott? Antiques guy?

outtolunchagain · 13/10/2014 11:51

Poor old Judy I thought she looked pretty desparate to go last night .

ppeatfruit · 13/10/2014 12:12

I reckon Simon peaked too early and was thinking he didn't have to bother that much. He actually TRIED in the dance off and was soooo much better.
Why was Khristina wearing a shirt ? (i haven't seen the film they were dancing from).

But tbh if the voting goes on how good the actual DANCING is then the radio 1 boy would've gone as would Judy and Tim Hmm.

ArcheryAnnie · 13/10/2014 12:32

Polkadots - I thought that too - black shoes with that outfit was all wrong anyway. At the very least they should have been brown.

ppeatfruit - I thought the shirt over the sparkly dress was an indication of The Morning After. A stupid indication, but still.

ppeatfruit · 13/10/2014 13:23

Thanks Archery I never noticed the shoes that "superman' was wearing on Saturday, only yesterday! his flat feet with the big black shoes were so funny (no wonder the judges were peeing themselves) Grin

Late to the party, but felt very sorry for Simon. I liked his dance - I know nothing about technique, but swooned at how tenderly he handled his partner . Although he put me off afterwards when he ate his popcorn with no hands. I don't think he comes across well because I think he's a bit thin-skinned and finds the criticism quite hard to hear - and I don't say that in a blaming way, because I know what that feels like (and I've never had to do it with cameras in my face). But I really don't want him to go. Hell, I might even vote.

The "Under the Sea" dance was awful. Why take someone who struggles with dancing and handicap him further by dressing him up like a crab? Awful stuff.

The Superman dance was very funny. The popcorn gimmick was a bit silly.

Liking Tess much more partnered with Claudia than Brucie.

bibliomania · 13/10/2014 14:18

Oh, and I think Judy is sorry she signed up in the first place. She looks so uncomfortable that it feels mean to watch. I agree it's her partern keeping her in.

OwlCapone · 13/10/2014 14:21

Judy was infinitely better this week when she was being led all the time.

OwlCapone · 13/10/2014 14:23

The Superman dance was very funny.

I thought it was utterly crap. On a par with the lobster.

bibliomania · 13/10/2014 14:27

Well, I'm not going to put up a stout defence of its merits. On the plus side, he did, let's say, commit to the performance.

digerd · 13/10/2014 14:48

I thought the superman dance was all done seriously but the camera work was crappy.
He got carried away with being superman, threw himself into the dance with too much gusto and lost some control.
Noticed the chicken legs last night, but he does have a nice cheeky chappy smile. Grin

Simon is too intense and serious. He does have great potential but viewers prefer personality. He should loosen up a bit.

digerd · 13/10/2014 14:52

Must admit I didn't even bother to watch Scott so can make no comment.

KayHarker1 · 13/10/2014 14:52

The Superman dance was utterly surreal.

ppeatfruit · 13/10/2014 15:12

I'm surprised that Judy even went in for it; did she not watch it before? It's not like she needs the publicity is it? I mean I can dance a BIT but there's no way I'd cope with the pressure. Grin

FrankelandFilly · 13/10/2014 15:16

I think she just fancied doing something different, fair play to her I say.

ppeatfruit · 13/10/2014 15:21

Well it's sure different from tennis, that's true Frankel Grin

Saker · 13/10/2014 18:35

I like the way Simon comes across on ITT, he seems nice and I think it is quite common for men to be in the dance off on their rumba week as it is not a good dance unless done well. Something like the quickstep or Charleston can be fun and appeal to the audience even when done badly but the rumba is just cringing. I wonder if Kristina thought she would try and get it out the way early on when there was less chance of him going out.

Thought Steve was underscored on his quickstep at least by Donny but I am a bit biased because he seems like such a nice person and he has meant so much to my Ds2 with special needs who has watched him for years. Loved the America paso and thought the crab samba was possibly the worst dance I have ever seen on Strictly. I can't believe the scores Scott got for that.

FrankelandFilly · 13/10/2014 19:18

The Pros don't get any say as to which dances they get each week, the producers decide as they don't want everyone doing the same ones each week. I'm sure the Pros would like to be able to choose so that they can build their celeb up in the same way you would when teaching a class, albeit at a faster rate.
