New thread for the US open.

Am hoping to get round to seeing some of it, but in the meantime, I am limbering up my refresh finger. Grin

Have you finished knitting the booties for Djok's new baby yet Juan?

You'll need to get a move on now if you haven't.

fRaahhnkenstein · 24/10/2014 19:50

oh TennisTennis Rafa has lost. Coric is yet another'one to watch' at the moment apparently.

I hope Rafa is ok for Paris.

Rafa isn't playing Paris- I'm sure he was at some point. I suppose he doesn't need to, in order to qualify for the WTF. I keep getting a nasty feeling that the WTF may be the last time he plays, with the injuries and illnesses piling up. Sad. I hope I'm wrong.

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 24/10/2014 21:45

Hi all Smile - not been on the thread for a while, but I'm back in my Hallowe'en costume Grin

I've just read on the BBC website that Rafa has brought his season to an end Sad and is scheduled to have surgery on his appendix on 3rd November, so won't play the WTF.

Sad Tennis Sad Tennis Sad

Just noticed upthread that the Djoks had a baby boy. Lovely news. He arrived on DS1's 21st birthday Smile Very happy for them.

fRaahhnkenstein · 24/10/2014 21:49

SadNooooooooooo!

I hadn't seen that. Poo. Sad

Bloody Murray will qualify for the WTF now, won't he? Grin

And happy birthday to your DS1GrinCake

I hope Rafa comes back next year. There are other players I love watching, but I don't want him to be finished yet!

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 24/10/2014 21:54

Ahh, thank you for DS1's cake Smile He hasn't actually had one yet... I've promised to bake tomorrow, just been so busy all week.

I don't mind Murray, am pleased he'll (almost certainly) qualify for the WTF. He's due to meet Ferrer tomorrow for the third time in three weeks I think

fRaahhnkenstein · 24/10/2014 22:01

he is- I'm hoping Ferrer qualifies- especially now that Rafa won't be there!

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 24/10/2014 22:14

Raahh - I've just read back through the thread to see what I've missed. Sorry about your migraines & glad you're getting sorted. Hopefully they'll improve when your blood pressure gets under control.

Also hope your DS is OK. It sounds like he's been having a horrible time, poor lad. It's difficult enough coping with starting secondary without the added stress caused by a couple of nasty bullies Angry

I've just found out that DS3 isn't happy at school. He's not being bullied, but he's lacking motivation and has been getting into trouble for not doing his homework and for being late. I'm having major difficulty getting him out of bed in the morning, but I hadn't realised what was wrong. I've been so busy with work & with settling DS2 into uni that I'd taken my eye off the ball a bit Blush and I made the mistake of thinking that because he's 17 I can trust him to get on with it. Anyway, we had a long chat last night & he's agreed that when he goes back after half term he'll mend his ways. He said he felt much better for telling me how he was feeling - I just wish I'd realised sooner. I did have to laugh when he said it wasn't fair because his brothers don't have to go to school & he does - that's an unfortunate consequence of being the youngest Grin

fRaahhnkenstein · 24/10/2014 22:20

Grin yes- 4 year old dd2 often thinks being the youngest sucks.

This week has been great- we have spoken to school, who are moving one of the boys involved, and the difference in Ds is amazing. He had totally lost his confidence, making friends was something that came easily, and suddenly he felt completely lost. But this week, he's met 2 lads who live nearby, seems far more engaged with the work he's doing, and is already nearly his old self. I am really impressed with how the school have handled it. I just wish ds had told us earlier, instead of pretending it was nothing.

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 24/10/2014 22:25

Glad to hear that. It's so sad when they try to cope with things themselves, rather than speak to us. It's partly because they feel they should be able to deal with it, and partly because they are worried about what we will say to the school & how the school will handle the situation. It sounds like your DS's school have dealt with it well.

Now Ferrer has lost.

Nothing is going to plan.

Murray/Robredo/

That was a BRILLIANT match.

well done to both guys.

and a lovely moment at the net there at the end. Tennis

Brawsome · 26/10/2014 18:59

You sure so right Tardis - I feel exhausted just watching it. Good to know that someone on the tennis thread has actually been watching!

grimbletart · 26/10/2014 19:07

Phew! One of the best matches of 2014.

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/10/2014 20:27

Both the Murrays successful today then (Andy and Judy, not Andy and Jamie).

fRaahh and Alpaca, sorry your dc have had a tough time, but glad to hear that things seem to be sorted. And belated happy birthday to your boy Alpaca, I have one turning 17 on Halloween.

I'm thinking I might skip the bootees and go straight to the christening outfit lame excuse for not having got my needles out :)

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/10/2014 20:36

And Fed successful in Basle. No big surprise I guess. Goffin has had a great year.

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 26/10/2014 22:09

Juan amazing that the two of us each have three DC who are almost exactly the same age, and that our second DC were born on the same day Smile. I didn't go for a fourth

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/10/2014 22:24

I know Alpaca, I was thinking that earlier - it's a pretty big coincidence. I wish we'd known each other when we were pregnant, we could have distracted each other with tennis talk :)

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 26/10/2014 22:25
Grin

I hope we'll manage a tennis thread meet up sometime Smile

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/10/2014 22:41

Alpaca - our dh's sound similarly messy - another coincidence :)

DraaaamaghAlpacaaaagh · 26/10/2014 22:54

They do, don't they? Grin

AnyoneForTardis · 28/10/2014 17:22

Richard Gasket Grin got a really weird shaped body!

(I can talk, as mines a supermodel figure...look, a flying pig!)

short legs, long torso, no shoulders, wierd shaped head.

great player though!

then theres Andy Murray with his gangly Jar Jar Binks body.

anyone else?

Btw not being nasty about them, just lighthearted banter, were always going on about the nice bodies/bums/faces/muscles!

magimedi · 29/10/2014 10:29

Talking of meet ups - anyone coming to this London one?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2170667-London-Meet-Up-29-November-Whos-In-Title-edited-by-MNHQ-at-OPs-request?msgid=50376462

It's lunchtime, so should be easier to get to & from.

magimedi · 30/10/2014 09:16

Have I killed the thread? Grin

AnyoneForTardis · 30/10/2014 16:44

I don't go to meet ups-many reasons-disability and social shyness mainly!

Am much 'chattier' and social on mn than rl!

well done Andy, through to the 02. and very well deserved, he looks like hes got his mojo back. Tennis
