New thread for the US open.

Am hoping to get round to seeing some of it, but in the meantime, I am limbering up my refresh finger. Grin

Testing what raahh? :)

JuanPotatoTwo · 12/10/2014 22:52

I think Rafa's passion and love for the game is definitely dwindling, and all his injuries and illnesses aren't going to help. Plus Toni has said recently that he doesn't intend to coach for much longer, so that's got to influence him a bit.

As for Pot, well he was meant to be coming back for the Asian swing and it didn't happen. Then he said he'd be back for Europe at the end of the year but that doesn't look likely now either - I wouldn't be surprised if he calls it a day :(. I'll be gutted if that's the case.

Raahh · 12/10/2014 22:52

Sorry, Juan- my name change. I changed it on an X factor thread, and have just changed back. Grin

Ah I see. Thought you were checking to see if any of us were still here!

Who do the x factor thread people like then? I have small crush on camp Italian dog lover, he's so sweet.

Raahh · 12/10/2014 23:32

We love him too-we call him Pugsy, since he wore a Pug jumper on his first week. His jumpers are brilliant Grin

Oh, and he can sing, which helpsGrin

Hah - jumpers! Woolly jumpers that need knitting. I feel a project coming on. Big leap in skill level from bootees to jumpers though (particularly as I haven't quite mastered the bootees yet), this may stretch my prowess a bit :)

Raahh · 12/10/2014 23:54

Juan- yes!! With dogs on. Grin

Well, let's go for 2 sleeves and a space to put your head through before we get onto complicated stuff like dogs!

Have been listening to Smooth radio in the mornings for a while now, and I'm sorry to say I've come to regard Andrew in a fairly benign light. But dd summed it up perfectly the other day when I was giving her a lift somewhere and we had Smooth on. She said "who is this?". He just sounds like someone's embarrassing Dad". Yup, that sums him up quite nicely I think :)

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/10/2014 18:51

Grin at 2 sleeves and a space to put your head through.

Juan, you've just reminded me, I think it was smooth were offering a chance to play tennis with Andrew Castle. I meant to come on here and tell you all about it. I knew we'd all be fighting over the opportunity Wink

AnyoneForTARDIS · 13/10/2014 19:29

Is Monica Niculescu Roger Federers twin sister?

Same face. uncanny!

JuanPotatoTwo · 13/10/2014 22:02

Clay, yes they were - I was sorely tempted to enter but then I thought, knowing my luck, I'd win Grin.

Tardis - I just looked her up. You most definitely have a point.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/10/2014 22:42

Maybe it's Roger ' s weekend look?!

AnyoneForTARDIS · 14/10/2014 16:58

gosh, that looks like Roger in drag!!!

well, he is known for twins isn't he Wink. Tennis

JuanPotatoTwo · 15/10/2014 08:07

Oh, little Dom out in first round in Vienna, that must be disappointing for him, being on home turf and that (er, Vienna is in Austria isn't it? Blush).

Verdasco had good win over Matty though, perhaps he hasn't quite given up.

JuanPotatoTwo · 15/10/2014 18:55

Pot saying he's not coming back til 2015 now. Either this is a very sensible decision, or he's playing for time before he announces his retirement :(

AnyoneForTARDIS · 16/10/2014 19:41

Davydenkos just announced his retirement.

Hope Pot comes back. Miss him on the tour.

Raahh · 18/10/2014 18:20

Just dropping by because this dropped off my TIO.

Cilic has qualified for the WTF, which is good for him. I hope Ferrer qualifies, there are a few who could beat him.

It's been an odd week, I went to the Docs because y migraine wasn't going anywhere, and it turned out i had very high blood pressure. So I spent the day in hospital- fab new ambulatory care unit, I had scans and xrays and a referral to a neurosurgeon all done in 7 hours.Grin

The following day, Ds ended up spending 2 day in hospital with suspected appendicitis- we think he has a grumbling appendix. We have also discovered he is being horribly bullied , and has been getting more and more upset about school. He's only been there 7 weeks, i feel so very sorry for him. He was a confident, popular kid at primary- he is tiny but no-one ever picked on him for his size. Secondary is a different beast. We've been in to speak to the head of his year, and 2 of the bullies are already going to be moved, because they have been a nightmare since day one .

Anyway- back to the tennis I hope Rafa is ok- I won't be happy if Murray qualifies for the WTF because Rafa has pulled out. Grin

MrsVamos · 18/10/2014 18:43

Oh my goodness, Raahh my lovely, sounds like a week to forget.

Poor you, and poor DS. ((((hugs))))

Feckin' shits at secondary, I'm so glad we avoided all that. I guess all you can do is tell DS it will get better, and in years to come it will seem so trivial. I know its no help while you're living through it.

Would Cake help ?

Has it actually been clarified that Rafa wont be at the Finals ? I haven't seen any news reports saying he wont be but have a feeling if he has any sense he will get the appendix sorted out in time for next year. Chances are we may not see him play again till clay season next year. Sad

I have a feeling he might go for RG no.10 then possibly retire. It does sometimes appear that its all too much for the body now. Who knows, Team Nadal don't give much away, do they ?!

With every passing year though, you know the time is getting closer that we will be mourning the retirements of Rafa and Roger. Very hard to imagine the Tours without them.

Raahh · 18/10/2014 18:50

Cake always helps, Thanks MrsV

We had no idea anything was wrong with Ds at school (although one of the little sods is from his old primary, and we desperately tried to avoid them being in the same class before he even started). Ds is hoping for a quick fix- I think he will be disappointedSad. The other theory is he has IBS cause by the stress. Poor kid.

I got through secondary by being an unsociable geekGrin

At least I know I still have a brain, after my scanGrin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/10/2014 18:58

I'd offer Wine but it probably won't help with the migraine so have some Brew and Cake instead.

Hope DS is better soon and school get sorted out too.

MrsVamos · 18/10/2014 18:59

Oh sweetie, at least you are still smiling. Smile

You never know, the first couple of terms at secondary changes people so much. Kids quickly work out who the dicks are and whose worth knowing, it could be that come Christmas DS will have established some good friendships with others, and left the twats behind.

There's always the little sods you can never seem to escape isn't there. Hmm Mind you, kids seem much better at dealing with prats than when I was at school. The fools tend to quickly get left behind and put in their place because so many kids these days realise the importance of education.

At least at secondary DS isn't stuck with sod-from-primary all day every day in the same room for 6 hours.

I got through secondary pretty much like you, well, that and hiding ! Not the best years of my life by a long chalk.

I think my brain has shrunk. Blush

Raahh · 18/10/2014 19:00

Thanks rafa

I just a pain free, hospital free weekGrin
