New thread for the US open.

Am hoping to get round to seeing some of it, but in the meantime, I am limbering up my refresh finger. Grin

Rafa may have to change his name to Bustagut 2!

Raahh · 08/10/2014 13:37

And he has lost the first setSad

Raonic is struggling too- is Shanghai the Scourge of thetop 10 or something?

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/10/2014 17:27

Damn..Sad

I have decided this is all a conspiracy so that Murray qualifies for the Masters Final. Grin

Although there's still Paris, and a couple of smaller tournaments in between.

How the hell could Raf play with appendicitis?

I couldn't even speak when I had it!

sorry raf fans, sometimes I think he milks his injuries/med probs for publicity/sympathy, (same as Serena) theres no way he should have played, and of course it takes away any credit for Lopez whos a damn good solid player, but the Raf story overshadows him.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 08/10/2014 17:59

raah is it the weather? my migraines get worse during changes in season/temperature.

JuanPotatoTwo · 09/10/2014 07:36

Dom out but I guess that wasn't a surprise really. I'm pleased to see Sock getting shot of Nishikori :)

AnyoneForTARDIS · 09/10/2014 17:56

okay cred where creds due, Rafs actually said in an interview not to take anything away from Feli, that fel played great.

Am I the only one that like Nishikori here? especially with Chang as his coach! Tennis

JuanPotatoTwo · 09/10/2014 18:39

I don't know if you're the only one Tardis but I don't think there's many of you! Great win for Ferrer today :)

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 18:44

Hello All.

Am following, but v busy in RL. Its very wearing, y'know.

Don't think we will see Rafa in London. Must have the strength of a bull to play with appendicitis.

Lets hope 2015 sees him fit and well, ready for his 10th Roland Garros win.

Murray is out, and also looking doubtful for London. Don't know that he will be missed, really ?

AnyoneForTARDIS · 09/10/2014 18:49

Berdych is another one I like but think theres only 1 or 2 fans here!

JuanPotatoTwo · 09/10/2014 19:01

Evening Mrs V.

Tardis, look at it this way - less competition for you :)

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 19:06

Juan

I don't mind Berdych, Tardis.
He's watchable. Smile

AnyoneForTARDIS · 09/10/2014 19:33

that's true Juan altho I do like mr Potato too!!!!

itd the smile that does it for me MrsVamos on Berdych.

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 19:43

He does have a lovely bum smile. Wink

AnyoneForTARDIS · 09/10/2014 19:57

oh yeah, that too!

Robredos easy on the eye too IMO, and a couple of others.

I watch tennis for actual tennis you know Wink.

got into it way back in the days -1984 I think- when I saw the short shorts and -at the time, defo not now- a young hunky Pat Cash (cant stand him now although his prog on CNN Open Courts good) and Mats Wilander -still love him, and the gorgeousness that is STILL Peter Fleming.

but got to love the actual tennis too.

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 20:11

I watch the men's tennis for the tennis first, fine examples of athletic fitness second.

Ladies. Not so much.

I don't much like the men's faces. It has to be said, most are funny looking buggers.

Give me a paper bag and SO many I'd them, body wise, I SO would !

Not pc at all, but so what !

JuanPotatoTwo · 09/10/2014 20:28

Well, I never notice their bodies or their faces. I'm in it purely for the technicalities of the game

MrsVamos · 09/10/2014 20:32

Juan

Have a jar of manuka for that nasty cough. Grin

JuanPotatoTwo · 09/10/2014 21:06

Thank you MrsV, very considerate of you

AnyoneForTARDIS · 09/10/2014 21:41

I like the womens game -obv for the actual tennis though!

Raahh · 11/10/2014 15:32

Well- there's a turn up- Federer v Simon in the Final. I've said it before, but I bet Fed never expected this when it was all going wrong last year.

But Djok is quite possibly a teeny bit distracted...

Rafa is going to continue to play, with antibiotics, and see about surgery at the end of the season. That can't be a good plan- unless deep down, he's worried another injury lay-off will be his last? I really hope not. I'm not ready to let him go just yetGrin

Let him go, let him go...guess what I've been stuck watching whilst ill? I think I'm delirious- and I still have pains in my head. And period pain to add to the mix. Shoot me now. GrinTennis

Think Rafs being silly for keeping to want to play-his health should come before career, this could be the finish for him if he carries on like this. and then it WILL be a permamnet lay-off.

FFS he has more than enough titles, at least Pots taking it slowly to come back from injury, hes being sensible.

Raahh · 12/10/2014 11:42

I suppose it's the expectation- you don't really know if there is pressure behind the scenes to keep going. I agree it could have repercussions for his future health- which no amount of titles will help. But, like Federer, he wants to carry on playing. Much as i love Pot, he isn't the draw to a tournament that someone like Nadal or Djok are- so the pressure to return early from /play with injury is greater.

And persistence has paid off for Fed- his first Shanghai title, so well done to him.
