Doctor Who Lesbian/beastility references

Sat down last night with my son and daughter to watch the new Doctor Who series.

Was shocked firstly that there is a lesbian couple in the programme who are married. Secondly they are not even both human.

This is way to much for a programme that is watched by a large teenage/children audience.

Lesbian marriage was not not even legal until this year why it needs such a heavy presence in a programme of this nature is totally wrong.

At one point the girl says she loves the lizard, serious beastility references here. As far as I am aware sex between humans and animals is still illegal in the uk. However this girl claims to be married to a lizard of the same sex.

So many things wrong here, I am not anti gay but this has no place on the BBC at any time let alone at prime time and in a show watched by so many under 18 year olds.

Very upset at why a show we all used to watch and love as kids think it needs to go down this road.

Don't be silly Sandy. Pop over to the Daily Fail website if you must express your prejudiced views.

chemenger · 24/08/2014 11:52

Good try, but you need to be a bit subtler to get a good bun fight going.

sandra1166 · 24/08/2014 11:52

Honestly im not prejudice in any way, but think it just to much for a programme of this nature.

I know Doctor Who had a bisexual guy in it before Jack, im ok with that, but last night was just to much.

Honestly OP most kids are totally unbothered by the idea of same sex relationships. My two bin YKIP leaflets because they think people should be able to marry who they like and YKIP are stupid.

MrsDavidBowie · 24/08/2014 11:54

Well that's the most professionally offended post of the day.
Bestiality.
Lol

OpiesOldLady · 24/08/2014 11:54

Well don't watch it again then. Problem solved.

MrsDavidBowie · 24/08/2014 11:55

Oh and you can't spell either.

Onesleeptillwembley · 24/08/2014 11:58

Cor fuckaduck if that's allowed they're up early today, bridge being cleaned?

IntheYear2525 · 24/08/2014 11:59

Really? I'm sorry I missed it now.

It was probably legal on whatever planet they come from. Anyway, the problem with bestiality on Earth is surely the lack of ability of the animals to give consent. If the lizard is sentient, intelligent and able to communicate its needs and preferences that's an entirely different kettle of lizards.

The Dr and River Song were married and they are entirely different species, did you not have a problem with that?

Trills · 24/08/2014 12:00

Inter species romance in scifi is an interesting question.

Clearly this is not the case of a relationship between a (human) woman and an animal - it's a relationship between a human and a person who is not human but clearly a person. Therefore the concept of bestiality is irrelevant.

Vastra isn't a lizard she is an alternately evolved human (ie from a reptilian ancestor rather than a mammalian one). Therefore not an animal.

Star Trek was doing mixed alien/human relationships years ago and the earth didn't fall off its axis.

Captain Jack was pansexual.

Your kids will only even notice if they see you being bothered. Watching Doctor Who will not make them gay.

PureMorning · 24/08/2014 12:08

'Im not anti gay but....'

Riiight

ShadowStar · 24/08/2014 12:09

It's an alien - and a person - not an animal. It's clearly not bestiality.

Also puzzled as to why you're okay with bisexual men but not lesbians.....

And, btw, for someone who claims not to be prejudiced in any way, your posts are coming across as pretty prejudiced.

HPparent · 24/08/2014 12:09

My teenagers' main concern was the pathetic character that is the Doctor's assistant Clara. I was watching with a lesbian teenager who greatly enjoyed the fact that gay characters are portrayed. I don't think being female and gay has ever been illegal in the UK (I may be wrong).

VanGogh · 24/08/2014 12:10

Bless you.

You are clearly new to Doctor Who then. Vastra and Jenny have appeared as "and this is my wife" since June 2011.

Also, she's a Silurian. "Lizard woman since the dawn of time" is for those who have missed copious earlier episodes... They first appeared in 1970 and have appeared in many Matt Smith episodes too since 2010. Shame you missed them. The theory goes that they evolved from reptiles in the Sulurian period whereas humans evolved from Apes.

Beastiality. HA! I don't think that counts when they're both loving consenting adults, do you?

But it's ok. Here, have a cookie.

Vitalstatistix · 24/08/2014 12:18

Never watch star trek. They've got humans with klingons and bajorans with ferengi and two in ones and I believe riker once fell in love with someone who had no gender at all Shock
Bloody hotbed of debauchery, that is. And they even have CONVENTIONS. every year. All over the place.
god knows what they get up to. I bet it's disgusting.

TheDoctorSandshoesAndGrandad · 24/08/2014 12:21

Go & have a Biscuit. Not even a nice Biscuit. One of those soggy ones at the bottom of the tin that's somehow infused the flavour of a lemon puff. Even though there's never been a lemon puff in the tin.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 24/08/2014 12:36

BeerTricksPotter

'Beastility'?
Is that a bit like Bigotility?

Excellent Grin

Mrsjayy · 24/08/2014 13:41

Jenny and lizard lady have always been together she is pre human so not an alienor even a real lizard and jenny is human meh you need to stop clutching your pearls

MissPricklePants · 24/08/2014 13:45

Ha! Seriously OP calm down!

CalamityKate1 · 24/08/2014 13:50

Kind of puzzled here as to what you're worried about OP.

If you're really that set against any of your children ending up in relationships with Silurians (or any other alien race) then move to an area where there aren't any.
