Doctor Who Lesbian/beastility references

Sat down last night with my son and daughter to watch the new Doctor Who series.

Was shocked firstly that there is a lesbian couple in the programme who are married. Secondly they are not even both human.

This is way to much for a programme that is watched by a large teenage/children audience.

Lesbian marriage was not not even legal until this year why it needs such a heavy presence in a programme of this nature is totally wrong.

At one point the girl says she loves the lizard, serious beastility references here. As far as I am aware sex between humans and animals is still illegal in the uk. However this girl claims to be married to a lizard of the same sex.

So many things wrong here, I am not anti gay but this has no place on the BBC at any time let alone at prime time and in a show watched by so many under 18 year olds.

Very upset at why a show we all used to watch and love as kids think it needs to go down this road.

Ferdy's dad from Jakers gives me Naughty Thoughts.

And Puss in Boots.

Can lizards & humans have babies?

In space, yes. As long as they have a cloaca-ing device.

.....I'll get me coat.

I did think the kissing/sharing oxygen was cheating though, surely she'd still have breathed in.

LynetteScavo · 24/08/2014 19:45

While watching Dr Who last night, DD asked if a person can marry a cat.....Onlyon Dr Who, may dear, only on Dr Who.....

Bluestocking · 24/08/2014 19:57

Hello hello, rubbish robotroll from the dawn of time!

2kidsintow · 24/08/2014 20:06

Apologies Hotpink.

LiverpoolLou · 24/08/2014 20:17

Hands up who remembers this:

Me, me, me, me. I have the whole thing in my geeky DVD collection.

MavisGrind · 24/08/2014 20:17

Thinking about it..... if there was more of a supply of sexy overlizards the Relationships board might be a very different place.

GalaxyInMyPants · 24/08/2014 20:24

Interesting fact. When breeding lizards you can purposefully breed gay lizards by altering the temp of the tank.

Think you need the tank a couple,of degrees warmer if you wanted gay lizards....not sure why you'd want gay lizards.

HotPinkWeaselWearingLederhosen · 24/08/2014 20:44

I had gay hamsters. I thought they were born that way, I'm uncomfortable now with the thought that Robbie and Vinnie may have been designer hamsters Sad

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2014 20:44

Hang on, the dinosaurs in Jurassic park changed sex! So if they did want a baby, she could just swap to male for a bit?!

QueenTilly · 24/08/2014 20:46

There is only one thing to say, that has not been said. Humans are animals. Members of the kingdom Animalia. And so are Silurians, as they evolved on Earth. It's two sapient animals in a relationship. Sapient is key.

If you want to be judgy and technically accurate, what about:

"a mammal and a reptile together!?"

scaevola · 24/08/2014 20:49

Homo sapiens and homo reptilians?

Closer than human/neanderthal cross breeding that was so common that Neanderthal DNA can still be identified in the homo sapiens population.

iklboo · 24/08/2014 20:49

Maybe Strax could be a donor? Sontarans make excellent nurses, don't they?

LineRunner · 24/08/2014 20:50

I'd give her one.

scaevola · 24/08/2014 20:55

Sontarans reproduce by cloning (in slimy vats). I don't think they have gametes.

MavisGrind · 24/08/2014 20:56

Strax is more about death than giving life I think?

UrsulaTheZebra · 24/08/2014 20:58

The start of the episode put me in mind of this book:
www.amazon.co.uk/Taken-T-Rex-Dinosaur-Erotica-Christie-ebook/dp/B00FI9JFFO

Probably not a good bedtime read for the OP.

HolyQuadrityDrinkFeckArseGirls · 24/08/2014 21:03

Erm, it's a program for adults. Don't show it to your DS. Confused

iklboo · 24/08/2014 21:04

Poor Strax.

QueenTilly · 24/08/2014 21:06

The Betrothal of Sontar (DW comic) is quite detailed on Sontaran cloning. [tangential emoticon]

Ursula WTF! There's even an audiobook version! There's enough of a market for it?

iklboo · 24/08/2014 21:06

I always thought Novice Hame had very kind eyes.

MavisGrind · 24/08/2014 21:09

And she was very loyal iklboo. You want that in a cat nun.
