Child Genius (C4)

Anyone planning to watch this?

I was a little like these children; joined Mensa as a child, but used my ability to coast through school/university rather than to achieve anything noteworthy.

DS2 is also of this ilk. We are not doing any of the things these parents are doing, although when opportunities arise through school then obviously we let him participate.

Well done Eleanor, was worried for a moment, my dd has a rubbish memory, I send her upstairs to get some socks and by the time she gets up there she has forgotten what she went up for Grin.

Quite a few of them can't handle loosing, I think this is due to the fact they feel they are letting their parents down.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 27/07/2014 21:33

Marking my place as I'm going to watch it on catch-up when it's up.

kim, they did do a follow-up on the original children from the series. i don't remember what had happened to all of them, but Michael and Dante seemed to have got to be good friends, which was rather nice.

IIRC, the mother of one of those children is (or was) a MNer and said as much on one of the threads.

Notagenius · 27/07/2014 21:34

Yes coconutty, the outnumbered mum does remind me if her!

jonicomelately · 27/07/2014 21:34

It's not very nasty. Just a point of view. To be honest I hate all that I'm so intellectual I don't care how I look bullshit. It's so achingly pretentious and middle-class. Where I live, you'd get seriously disapproving looks if your dc looked like they hadn't had a comb put through their hair.

Notagenius · 27/07/2014 21:35

We are very unpretentious in working class Stoke.

ImperialBlether · 27/07/2014 21:38

That girl (sorry, don't know her name) did amazingly well.

Hope to god Tudor doesn't make his dad unhappy now.

jonicomelately · 27/07/2014 21:38

Dh is from Stoke and he commented on the hair too! Bet you're from the posh bit
Grin
Sharon is awesome and very well turned out Smile

ImperialBlether · 27/07/2014 21:39

Oh for god's sake, his mother's crying!

WhereAreMyGlasses · 27/07/2014 21:40

Oh no 'What I achieved is absolutely terrible' it makes my heart break

MissWimpyDimple · 27/07/2014 21:40

I feel so bad for these kids shoes parents just seem to be ruining their lives. Tudors parents clearly put way too much pressure on him.

SauvignonBlanche · 27/07/2014 21:40

That's sad.

marne2 · 27/07/2014 21:40

Poor boy, why can't his parents applaud their son Sad

CookieCrumbling · 27/07/2014 21:40

I want to give Tudor a big hug.

Mondaybaby · 27/07/2014 21:40

Gosh - my heart is breaking for Tudor a bit - he is only 8 years old.

17leftfeet · 27/07/2014 21:41

itsnothingoriginal · 27/07/2014 21:42

I can't bear it for Tudor - he's obviously petrified of his Dad. It's awful Sad

NoArmaniNoPunani · 27/07/2014 21:42

That poor boy. His parents are being emotionally abusive.

Sirzy · 27/07/2014 21:49

"she failed herself" -- what a horrible comment :(

17leftfeet · 27/07/2014 21:49

Aw his sister has no self esteem does she?

Notagenius · 27/07/2014 21:49
