Child Genius (C4)

Anyone planning to watch this?

I was a little like these children; joined Mensa as a child, but used my ability to coast through school/university rather than to achieve anything noteworthy.

DS2 is also of this ilk. We are not doing any of the things these parents are doing, although when opportunities arise through school then obviously we let him participate.

The children are obviously just spouting what they have heard their parents say.

I also wonder how any of our children are still alive and functioning.
How do we mange with out training in psychology?

It's like Toddlers and Tiaras for bright children.

TheFirstOfHerName did you do all these exercises at home, were you pushed by your parents?

Christ. Better swap the fruit shoots for kale juice.

I couldn't do those sums slowly, with some paper, never mind as fast as that Shock

Now, Rubiyat seems like a prodigy. Others seem a bit schooled.

merlincat are they like that in RL?

MissWimpyDimple · 20/07/2014 21:19

Rubiyat seems to have a normal family!

That's how y make friends.
From books.
Not sure many 12 yr olds understand Fermats theory.

Shrinidhi was very likeable and gave the impression that she was learning because of her own enthusiasm, not because she was being pushed into it.

DS2 (as well as being exceptionally gifted) also has AS, and I'm trying very hard not to armchair diagnose some of these children!

Most of what the kids are interested in is interesting to me too. It's hard enough to find adults who want to talk about it, much less children Grin

Poor Curtis. What the heck is with the outfit?

Am already regretting my Haribo-and-fucking-huge-TV parenting method

Yup, TheFirstOfHerName - agree with the finding it hard to not armchair diagnose!

Elderflower it's bloody awful isn't it - though do you mean mother or child?!

alwaysonmymind · 20/07/2014 21:23

Why can't I turn this over? Even though it's uncomfortable to watch

Report
WhispersOfWickedness · 20/07/2014 21:23

Well, that's 6 points more than I would have got, Curtis Grin

MamaPain · 20/07/2014 21:23

Arggh, I was just ranting in AIBU about this. That mother. She clearly doesn't see the irony.
