I thought it was brilliant, although some generational shifts confused me. The lead character played by Sarah Lancashire had a grandson but didn't look old enough.

The company boss had been friends with the accountant's father, that didn't add up did it? Or did I get that wrong.

Great to see the George Costigan and Siobhan Finneran reunited although not onscreen together.

Brilliant writing and simply superb acting I thought, anybody else enjoy it?

BeckAndCall · 03/06/2014 08:07

It's a long time since I've woken up in the morning actively looking forward to a TV programme. Roll on 9pm!!

TheWordFactory · 03/06/2014 08:16

Oh I can't wait.

Such a great role for SL.

Some time ago, she agreed to play the lead in a television production of one of my books and I almost died with excitement. Unfortunately, the production company couldn't raise the capital, and by the time they did, SL had committed to other projects...bitterly disappointing for me!

Southeastdweller · 03/06/2014 08:19

I'm the same Beck - this is truly event TV.

slartybartfast · 03/06/2014 08:44

did anyone else do One of your books The Word Factory? were they any good?

TheWordFactory · 03/06/2014 08:51

slarty someone else did do it (I won't say who, as that might out me) but they weren't that great.

And I'm not just saying that because I adore SL and really wanted her to do it Grin. Everyone involved in the project agreed that the finished article wasn't as good as it should have been.

In the end, the production company couldn't sell it to the chanel they had in mind, and it ended up being sold to a chanel no one watches (which was probably a blessing)...

It was a steep learning curve for me about selling options on my work!!!

I am also wildly excited for tonight's episode. I am very interested in the hardly seen brother - the previews suggest he is key to the plot though.

MorrisZapp · 03/06/2014 19:01

Oh god, the brother. He has revelations up his sleeve.

S Wainwright is doing a webchat after the show, it's on the BBC website.

I wonder if she'll announce about whether there's a second series.

Five minutes to go. I think the brother will blurt out that Becky slept with lots of men including Tommy and this will send Cath over the edge...

Ledkr · 03/06/2014 21:02

I'm scared so I thought I'd watch along with you.
We got no work done for an hour today discussing this.

coffeeinbed · 03/06/2014 21:14

Here we go!

tilliebob · 03/06/2014 21:15

Oohya, nearly dropped my cuppa there! Shock

Ledkr · 03/06/2014 21:22

Nice son.

coffeeinbed · 03/06/2014 21:24

Hard work, families...

coffeeinbed · 03/06/2014 21:25

I don't like the sister.

Dottydadoo · 03/06/2014 21:26

I love this series but I want to brush their fringes out of their eyes!! Little things....

AndiPandi · 03/06/2014 21:28

Why would they let Ryan start having more freedom when they know nutter is still on the loose! Totally unbelievable!

Dottydadoo · 03/06/2014 21:31

Oh no can't watch

Ledkr · 03/06/2014 21:31

Yes I agree, what a big flaw in the otherwise good script

Butterflyspring · 03/06/2014 21:32

I was just going to post the same Andi - you would never let him ride home at that age with that guy on the loose.

lilolilmanchester · 03/06/2014 21:32

Went to answer door ... Who was dead in the flat?

tilliebob · 03/06/2014 21:34

Much preferred TLR in his hat and glasses shallow

AndiPandi · 03/06/2014 21:41

I agree Ledkr, I am irrationally annoyed at that!

GeneralGrevious · 03/06/2014 21:49

I can't watch
