I for one have nothing against living beside social housing, and am in no way snobby about it - I grew up in council/HA properties, as did all my family. The other half of the semi I live in is HA owned, my neighbour has lived there since it was built in the 1950s (she is in her 80s now), which is the sort of security of tenure lots of people can only dream about nowadays!

People are snobby about social housing (though I don't understand why) - that's the reason why my house is worth at least £100-150k less than those a couple of streets away, because mine is 'ex-council' and my neighbour's house is still not privately owned.

Im kind of envious about the security it offers and much lower rent but OTOH i like to choose where i live, choose how many bedrooms i want, not wait 7 years etc.

'Council house envy is rife on MN.'

Yes, indeed. A maisonette starting on the first floor with a drug dealer underneath in the middle of nowhere and only zero hours shift work 24/7.

Most of those who spraff bile about people in social housing would not set foot in any of these places.

It came with not a peg to hang anything nor flooring of any sort no a lightbulb.

We pay full rent and council tax.

Oh, you shouldn't be having it, you lazy workshy, all of you deserve penury. Should be only those in dire need, blah blah blah, as if any of them would EVER live here, in need.

It's all your poor choices, you are defeatist, you need to pull yourself up.

Big stupid race to the bottom which is the finish of you.

Seriously, have you learned nothing? Divide and conquer has cost what was an empire.

You have nothing to sell now! You have no widgets, nor skills nor even people as cheap labour. So you must become a tax haven or you are done for.

'We're a small island.' Then you'd better become a tax haven quick because you are not selling anything else and you have nothing to sell.

All the more for your great, big property bubble.
