Just rewatching Nigella's Christmas cookery programme. She really is lovely in it

She is charming.

Lovely recipes as well.

I remember reading an interview where Nigella was talking to Julie Burchill about Christmas, Julie had had lovely happy Christmases as a child so she didn't really give a monkeys, yet Nigella had a tense upbringing so as an adult wants all of Christmas to be perfect for her family.

Anyway in light of whAt has happened to her life this year watching the show is a bit bittersweet. I hope she has a happy time with her children this year.

Anyway I recommend the programme, and the Christmas book. It's NEARLY December after all!

You are rather lovely, GetOrf.

I hope that your good wishes towards Nigella ripple out and come back to you from others.

I was drooling over reading her Christmas book yesterday, I am a rubbish cook but just looking at it makes me feel like a Domestic Goddess Grin. There are a couple of recipes even I can attempt though - her mince pies are the best as are the White Chocolate & Cranberry Cookies. The full works Christmas dinner sounds amazing but quite honestly I wouldn't know where to start so I'll content myself with looking at the pictures and ordering Aunt Bessie's pre-made everything from Tesco.

Agree with what you say about Nigella herself as well, she does seem lovely. It was so sad that John Diamond died because he came across as a thoroughly nice bloke and they appeared very happy and well suited. Not something that could be said about her second husband/marriage.

Fabsmum · 25/11/2013 23:11

Nigella is so beautiful. I could rest my eyes on her all day.

:-)

GetOrfOhSodOff · 25/11/2013 23:12

Oh catfromjapan what a LOVELY thing to say Thanks

The Christmas book is wonderful. I love reading it.

If you make nothing else I can really recommend the ham in red wine etc.

I was watching her Christmas programmes yesterday and she does look lovely. Her studio home looks gorgeous too, so cosy! It always makes me want to go out and blow all my money on twinkly fairy lights.

It made me think - I was going to ask this in Style & Beauty but may as well ask here - how would I get my hair like hers with the big curls at the end? Would rollers be best or tongs, or something else?

I love Nigella. I love how she's older than me and not thin but looks so sexy.

GetOrfOhSodOff · 25/11/2013 23:13

I agree about John Diamond. What a lovely man he seemed,

And she is beautiful and I love her voice.

Her turns of phrase are very OTT but they make me laugh.

I haven't a clue about the hair but I agree it is very pretty.

I know. If I look as good as her, at her age, I will be very happy!

GetOrfOhSodOff · 25/11/2013 23:15

She used to film at home (she did in nigella Bites which I have also recorded).

Perhaps Saatchi didn't want his house filmed in. It would probably go with the other revelations about his sour character.

Nigella said that she stopped filming at home as it was too distracting for her children who were studying for their GCSEs. I love her too. There's something about the way she lives her life that really appeals to me... She likes what she likes and wants to share it with everyone. Such generosity of spirit.

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/11/2013 08:56

I have her Xmas book. I love it. I've always liked nigella. There are some recipes of hers which don't work but overall I really like her and I love how much effort she outs into her Xmas and the joy it brings her and hopefully her family too.

skinnychai · 26/11/2013 09:02

Another Nigella fan here. I want to be her friend so I can hang out at her house and be included in her dinners. I don't have her Christmas book but I think I will order it today!

winklewoman · 26/11/2013 09:07

The Christmas book is the best ever for recipes and for putting you in the mood for Christmas. I am devastated to hear the TV series is on again and I have missed it. What channel, when?

GetOrfOhSodOff · 26/11/2013 09:14

It was on good food I think, hang on.

I have all Nigella's books. I love her.

It sounds daft but I feel as if I know her and I want nothing but the best for her.

I hope her and her DC have a wonderful Christmas and can look forward to a happier new year.

winkle I think its been on the food network channel. Fear not it will be repeated to death probably.

MuffCakes · 26/11/2013 09:16

I wish I was her friend to, she is so lovely.

SconeForAStroll · 26/11/2013 09:16

I love nigella too I always want to give her a hug.

My grandad died on Christmas Day when I was a young teenager, the day pretty much stopped existing at that point as far as my family were concerned.

It is probably why I go so over the top now. My grandad bloody loved Christmas, I like to think of him laughing as I get out the eight boxes of decorations every year.

HRHwheezing · 26/11/2013 09:20

Big nigella fan here too.

She's much taller irl, very pale and quite freckly, but very beautiful. And lovely.

Sounds like I stalk here but have met her at a book signing.

She also told me where she gets her eyebrows done. They are amazing.

Monetbyhimself · 26/11/2013 09:22

I luffs her too. I think she's amazing 'i may have a girl crush'

GetOrfOhSodOff · 26/11/2013 09:22

Winkle it's on Good Food, it's on this morning and every day this week, repeating the entire series every day!

Scone that is lovely.

I had miserable Christmases because my childhood was grim.

Dear god I love it now. Love the whole thing and so does my daughter. I do understand that thing of wanting everything PERFECT and having to talk myself down a bit.

Another Nigella fan here.

Love the Christmas book. Love Feast. Both have lots of lovely festive recipes.

I once sat with her at a publishing do and can confirm that she is utterly beautiful in real life and great fun.

GetOrfOhSodOff · 26/11/2013 09:27

People can be scathing about her on mumsnet because people don't like her rather arch presents style.

I think she is just as camp as Christmas and plays up her image, I like to think she has a laugh about the whole thing.

At the end of Nigelissima they show brief out takes of Nigella being clumsy, she laughs at herself, cursing 'oh for god's sake' etc. I want to see more Nigella out takes!
