Just rewatching Nigella's Christmas cookery programme. She really is lovely in it

She is charming.

Lovely recipes as well.

I remember reading an interview where Nigella was talking to Julie Burchill about Christmas, Julie had had lovely happy Christmases as a child so she didn't really give a monkeys, yet Nigella had a tense upbringing so as an adult wants all of Christmas to be perfect for her family.

Anyway in light of whAt has happened to her life this year watching the show is a bit bittersweet. I hope she has a happy time with her children this year.

Anyway I recommend the programme, and the Christmas book. It's NEARLY December after all!

I love Nigella and her recipes.

Honsandrevels · 26/11/2013 11:57

Nigella answered my question in the webchat so to my mind that makes us friends ??

HRHwheezing · 26/11/2013 12:28

She answered mine too. She always seems ver approachable.
I have recorded all nigella programmes now on sky!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/11/2013 12:31

I do want to be Nigella's friend - but if I had to choose, I would have Sue Perkins.

FestiveEdition · 26/11/2013 12:36

Agreeing here, that if your childhood was a mess then it seems to generate a need to make Christmas absolutely PERFECT for your own children. I am still like a 5 year old about it.

Thank you for the heads up that the series is showing, though. I loved it the first time around.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 26/11/2013 12:53

Oh, she answered my question as well (about what's it called, that peanut stuff that breaks your teeth) but it was very "if you turn to page X or look on my website..."

Whereas Delia, who had always underwhelmed me before her webchat, was an absolute star, very funny, very chatty, very self-deprecating and must have had the fastest fingers ever in a webchat. (apart from Alistair Campbell)

HRHwheezing · 26/11/2013 15:28

I suppose tartlets we've heard the news?

If I had Charles saatchi as a husband I'd take drugs too.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 26/11/2013 15:33

HRH-my thought exactly when I read the other thread.

Poor old Nigella.

I hope she knows every woman in the land is rooting for her against Mr Cabbage Paaatchi.

gaggiagirl · 26/11/2013 15:34

HRH what news is this now?

gaggiagirl · 26/11/2013 15:40

Im busy making beef brisket in her honour.

When I eat it I'll be thinking of her.

Plomino · 26/11/2013 15:51

I love her too . Not that she's the reason I have fairy lights all round my kitchen ooh no .

I just love how her recipes are usually so simple even I can do them .

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 26/11/2013 15:57

I love Nigella's Christmas makes me feel all festive :)

LucilleBluth · 26/11/2013 16:03

I love love love her Christmas book.....I remember when it came out, we were living in Canada and it was $60, I used to stroke it in the bookshop but wouldn't buy it at that price ( books are ridiculously expensive there).....anyway DH bought it for me and I have used it every year since.

HRHwheezing · 26/11/2013 16:32

I don't want to link to the other thread.

News today of her taking drugs.

I don't care, I like her, I like her recipes. He's still a twat.

randomAXEofkindness · 26/11/2013 16:32

She is beautiful, I've got a bit of a crush on her as well. Even dh doesn't look too bored when I put her on the tele, and he hates cookery programs!

This thread just reminded me about her little chocolate Christmas pudding truffles. Nom nom nom...

randomAXEofkindness · 26/11/2013 16:34

I want fairy lights in my kitchen.

RiffyWammal · 26/11/2013 16:37

I want someone to show Nigella this thread. Smile

Sylvana · 26/11/2013 16:55

I don't believe it, she doesn't look like a drug taker to me. That vile excuse of a man also accused her daughter of the same thing. It just doesn't make sense. He is out to destroy her good name. Poor Nigella.

SconeForAStroll · 26/11/2013 17:36

Poor old Charlie. He really is one deluded twat. (And actually has made me wonder if she wore that all over swimsuit on Bondi beach because she had bruises she didn't want the world to see).

I hope Nigella has the best Christmas ever.

LESuffolk · 26/11/2013 17:41

I love Nigella too. She is a clever woman who has endured overwhelming loss that no financial wealth compensates for.

She also adores kitschy cookbooks (Like me) and once answered my question about them. I have many of the same kitsch books as her.

I hope the current unpleasantness doesn't cast too much a shadow over her Christmas.

I love her books and am awaiting an Opus of an Americas cookbook from her. Bet the next one is full of South American recipes!

flootshoot · 26/11/2013 17:52

I'm going to her place for christmas.

We've never met, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

MsIngaFewmarbles · 26/11/2013 17:59

I love Nigella too. I am looking forward to buyimg the Christmas book as soon as there is a sniff of a chance of not having to go to PILs for Christmas :)

Glad she is rid of that vile odious man, Merry Christmas Nigella.

Sylvana · 26/11/2013 18:10

There is a lot of love and support for Nigella on MN - I hope it makes its virtual way to her somehow! I could always identify with her. She loves her food and is not ashamed to show it. Scoffing the yummy leftovers from the fridge, just like something we'd all do. Makes a refreshing change from seeing photos of celebs nibbling on a lettuce leaves!

SconeForAStroll · 26/11/2013 19:16

This thread is much nicer than the other one.

wasabipeanut · 26/11/2013 19:25

I love the Christmas book too. I keep loads of Christmas gift tags from years passed in it and when I open it out for the first time they all fall out. This makes me feel happy and most Christmassy. Every year I cook her Christmas cake, mince pies, Yule log and the cranberry muffins which we have on the day for breakfast with panettone. Cake for breakfast. Love it.

I have loads of her books and her recipes rarely fail me.

I think she's thoroughly beautiful and I hope she can shake off that bastard Saatchi and find some happiness.
