Starting a new thread as I used up the last two messages on the last one. Also this is my first thread I've ever started! A great subject to start with.

I'm bored at the moment. Grace is a nasty bit of work, I may not like Owen but he seems to be a much better judge of character than Anna. Just grateful that Gary and Izzy have vanished.

I felt sorry for Mary too. Although it is wholly unrealistic that she can just live on the streets in that giant camper van.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/11/2013 23:36

You know, Who. I had actually forgotten all about the existence of Izzy until I read your comment. I didn't even wonder about her when Gary was decorating with Owen.

Anna is a vile character. In fact the writers seem to have made her two characters, the vile, useless annoying one and a rarely-glimpsed thoughtful and sympathetic one which bears no resemblance to the other one.

FannyMcNally · 08/11/2013 23:37

Yes, I'd love to know who the poor sods are that have that huge van outside their window 24/7.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 23:38

oh I had forgotten all about gary and izzy!

yes Hayley is irritating me too now. I think she's being uncharacteristically nasty. I know soaps tend to do the whole 'dying person lets their tongue run loose' thing but it just isn't Hayley unless she has been bottling all this up for years and years.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/11/2013 23:39

xpost with anne! Grin

theliverpoolone · 08/11/2013 23:42

I'd completely forgotten about Izzy too! But now seem to remember her going back to work and Gary going part time, or did that not actually happen? Confused

FannyMcNally · 08/11/2013 23:43

Although I'm fed up with the Hayley storyline, the person who plays Roy is a bloody brilliant actor and if he doesn't win Soap Actor of the Year they'll have me to answer to.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/11/2013 23:54

Agree about Roy, he is a fantastic actor. Even when he has had ludicrous storylines (being pursued by Mary, sleepwalking, accused of parenthood by Tracey) he has managed to carry them off brilliantly.

Yes to two Annas, sometimes she can be very wise, perceptive and kind, most of the time she is nasty, self-serving and completely oblivious to what others round her are really up to, it just doesn't work.

Bakingnovice · 09/11/2013 07:03

Oh Anna is a nasty bitch. As for Hayley I'm getting cross that they've turned Hayley into this monster. She's become selfish and irritating and don't like it. Hayley wouldn't be like this all the time. Roy is completely out acting Hayley, and the storyline isn't as powerful as it was at the start.

Grace is horrible, is she related to Kirsty?!

Please don't mention izzy and Gary. It's nice to have a break from that family and Katie. When do cindy and Sheila leave?

Impomea · 09/11/2013 11:46

Just catching up -did Anna say that Faye could go to the concert because she had been "good" ?So the bullying of Simon and Nick at the halloween party didn't happen ?Confused

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/11/2013 21:20

Yeah was thinking that too Impomea. She was horrible all week and Anna is a sap.

Todd is horrible isn't he?? Julie works in the factory and he's slagging it off!

OP posts:
GideonKipper · 11/11/2013 15:06

Well, "that London" has changed Our Todd, he used to be such a nice, sweet boy. Hard working, studious and earnest - what's happened?!

FannyMcNally · 11/11/2013 18:43

Anna and Owen keep kissing. Do you think this is a build up to one of them cheating? If so, my money's on Owen having a drunken night's shagfest with Sally Grin

sicily1921 · 11/11/2013 19:12

Todd....just bleurrgghh..pass me a bucket pleeeeease. And why the constant smug look? He's got nowt to be smug about. And why do Mancs always come back from London and such places wearing dodgy gear i.e. the long (Richard O'Brien) type coat? Gawd I hope his storyline is short. And Hayley is really starting to piss me right off with her nastiness to Roy.

squoosh · 11/11/2013 19:38

Wow Tina is starting to look like George 'lizard skin' Hamilton!

insanityscratching · 11/11/2013 19:47

Squoosh I've just said similar only I thought David Dickinson Grin

Bakingnovice · 11/11/2013 19:48

Stop being mean Hayley!! Poor Roy.

How many more gay characters can the writers for into a tiny street in Manchester? We've got sawphie and Jenna, Sean, Marcus, Todd and Todds boyfriend Alex last week. Flippin eck.

Todds acting is getting worse. Is he Bethany's dad?

Chipstick10 · 11/11/2013 19:58

Todd is awful. Wtf is that hair do all about!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 11/11/2013 20:02

baking no Bethany's dad was Neil Ferns and he got killed in a car crash as while later. He didn't really have anything to do with Bethany and Sarah Lou.

Todd and Sarah did have a baby but she went into early labour and the baby died just after he was born. The Platts maintain that it was the shock of finding out Todd was gay that sent Sarah into labour and so it's his fault the baby died so that's why they hate Todd

Bakingnovice · 11/11/2013 20:08

Oh yeah. It's coming back to me now. Gail and Eileen have had some epic fights.

Ruffcat · 11/11/2013 20:42

Can someone clarify for me, is Hayley asking Roy to euthanise her or she will do it and wants him to hold her hand

GoldenGytha · 11/11/2013 22:51

Hayley wants to end her life by her own hand Ruffcat

She isn't asking Roy to euthanise her himself, because of the trouble he will get into if he does, she just wants him to support her decision.

aliciaflorrick · 12/11/2013 14:01

I can not remember a time in my life that I have not watched Corrie, but I'm seriously thinking of dropping it. I don't watch it properly these days, I find it tedious, I don't like half the characters, nothing is gripping.

I have only been watching for the Hayley storyline, because I think both the actors are awesome, but I can't believe I'm disliking Hayley at this time. Her story started off so well. I think the days of Corrie being watched in this house are numbered (and I can't believe I'm even thinking that).

Bakingnovice · 12/11/2013 16:55

I agree Alicia. For the first time in decades I deliberately missed a lot of corrie this year. The Karl story finished me off. But the Hayley story reeled me back in. Like you I don't like the way it is going. Why make one of the all time good characters of corrie so nasty? I know Hayley must feel angry and frustrated but she's become a horrible person. With Todd back and all the other unlikeable characters (anna, Faye, Owen, Leanne, Stella, Sheila grant, Tracey rob etc) I have to say I don't often watch anymore.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/11/2013 17:34

I had my first proper break from Corrie in years this summer too, I've been watching since around when Nick was born, had a break while at Uni (around 25 years ago) but watched ever since. Didn't bother through the summer this year and didn't really miss it, sad to say. I did get back to it this autumn, but it's not a patch on how it used to be. Just enough little gems of moments to keep me going, but only just.
