And so it begins....

OP posts:

Now, "Shall I be the cat?" - cringe if you remember that classic cbb moment

Oh lordy i curled up into a ball watching that and everytime it is shown on something i get that kick in the stomach reaction it was all very keep it in the bedroom sorta thing

noddyholder · 27/08/2013 13:46

You would think by now these 'celebs' would get the idea that its a game and someone has to be chosen etc etc but no they never do Even the ones you think might be able to let it wash over them can't. They are all either on the edge of a breakdown or egomaniacs. They should show this to all the teenagers who want to get into 'showbiz'

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 13:46

MrsJay I am still bleaching my eyes since the leotarded robot dancing Pete Burns and George Galloway. Confused

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 13:53

Nicky Graham! Of course! Thank you mrsjay!

I think Feenie you are confusing people discussing / laughing at / pseudo-psychoanalysing CBB contestants with picking on one particular contestant who just so happens to be trans-gendered. They aren't, they are talking about CBB contestants because that is what you do - if you go on CBB you are putting yourself out there.

I can now see why my last thread went down the pan!

Now, "Shall I be the cat?" - cringe if you remember that classic cbb moment

One of the all-time classic moments in TV history! That was a prime example of why some people should never go on reality TV.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 13:54

Oh SirRaymond I had successfully wiped that image from my brain until just now. I feel I need to scrub myself with bleach in the shower now.

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 13:56

Anne I am so sorry...I will pass you the eye-bleach as soon as I've finished with it! There really were some moments of pure car-crash tv on that series (which is why we all watch it) Grin

FannyMcNally · 27/08/2013 14:05

I really hated that series, watching Barrymore and Peter Burns bully Jodie Marsh was despicable and contestants have been warned for less than what they were allowed to get away with with her. It was like real life Lord of the Flies.

I wonder if George Galloway and Rula Lenska will ever be remember for anything else. They really seemed to forget the cameras were there!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 14:05

Michael Barrymore was in that series too, wasn't he? He's another one who took a real gamble going in.

I remember Les Dennis going in as well and watching him crying in the garden talking to the chickens. Very uncomfortable.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 14:06

Cross posts!

Yes, whatever Rula Lenska has done acting-wise will forever be overshadowed by the cat!

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 14:12

I always thought there was extensive testing of mental health to ensure people were fit to participate in what is undoubtably a very high stress environment, prior to entrance into the BB house but that seems to have been abandoned. At least for CBB.
It isn't an environment for someone with alcohol or drug dependancy issues. Mind you the celebs that go on CBB are usually at the arse-end of their careers and usually have severe money problems so the above probably gets bypassed.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 14:16

True. It is a last-ditch attempt to grab some cash and some fame, isn't it?

Just starting to watch last night's. I have no idea why Danielle is surprised that people think she shouldn't be in it as she isn't famous. She isn't famous. Surely this isn't a revelation to her?

Lighthousekeeping · 27/08/2013 14:38

I know I've already asked this but, how are those three able to go off and nominate people?

Chipstick10 · 27/08/2013 15:28

Sorry but I'm at a loss as to why someone should win just because they have been diagnosed with a condition. Totally confused. I thought Abz was a bit of a cringe before I knew and I still think he's a bit of a cringe. His accent is ludicrous.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 15:47

Abs' accent is awful. I don't care what condition he has, that accent is put on, it is not his genuine accent. No condition on this planet makes you talk in fake Jamaican patois.

corlan · 27/08/2013 15:55

Anne - I've known a couple of autistic children who spoke in fake American accents - it's not that unusual. (Might not be the case with Abs though)

Sparklysilversequins · 27/08/2013 16:01

I don't that it's he SHOULD win, I just think some would like him too because things are often so much harder for those with spectrum disorders and it would be great for awareness.

Ok, Corlan, I can see you know more than me about this sort of thing. I didn't know that.

However, I still stand by my thought that Abs' accent is put on to make him look cool. I'm sure he never used to speak like that. To me it makes him look like a fool, because I am old.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 16:49

Didn't Pete who was in the same year as Nicky Graham have Tourettes? Him winning did a lot for awareness about that condition.

KatoPotato · 27/08/2013 16:55

The 2004 Keith Alan docu about the Harries family is available to watch on Daily Motion

The 'extras' film is interesting watching too

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 16:57

Anne I don't think Pete did anything for raising the profile of tourrettes. He became a total penis when he got out of the house and he treated Nicki Graham appallingly, and she was pretty mentally fragile.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 17:01

I think while he was in the house he did, because he was seen as "normal" and quite endearing. It was only after he came out he showed he was an arse.

Yes, I agree Nicky was pretty fragile - she was the one I mentioned earlier whose name I had forgotten. She should never have been allowed in the house.

mrsjay · 27/08/2013 17:02

MrsJay I am still bleaching my eyes since the leotarded robot dancing Pete Burns and George Galloway.

well I had forgotten all about it till you reminded me

I remember the documentary about Lauren and her family online doctorites and counsilling your own child Confused

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 17:32

That Keith Allen doc was pretty chilling. That family are unhinged. What scares me is they set up their own psychotherapy organisation and 'qualified' themselves and 'practiced' on the general public.
I can remember Lauren doing a demonstration of a therapy session with a friend of hers which involved her just shouting at this woman.
The family were very insular and kept getting targeted by local knobheads smashing their windows in.
I did feel very sorry for Lauren because her parents were really fucked up and I don't think she stood a chance.

12thDoctorsCompanion · 27/08/2013 17:43

Sophie and Barbie girl looking daggers at each other during the -erm- ''talent'' contest Grin.
