And so it begins....

OP posts:

I know I sound cold and unfeeling but I'm so over bb winners raising awareness. They never do. Peter was a knob and just last week Sam won. He was a twat. He was boring and IMO didn't deserve to win. Why did he win? Because he had a disability. Also I'm not keen on lauren and I don't particularly feel sorry for her. I refuse to be made to feel guilty for saying what I want and feel because she's had it tough. I find her cringing and annoying and she is so deluded I find her difficult to watch. She's a car crash. Lets face it this year is really scraping the barrel.

Lighthousekeeping · 27/08/2013 18:05

I don't think it raises any particular awareness that wasnt there already. Sometimes I think it's easy to look down on the voting public. Loads of people have been voted and won big brother who don't fit into a particular box. I don't think people necessarily put themselves in there because they are different or want to raise awareness of anything in particular. I just think they want the experience of being in the house. If that makes sense.

buss · 27/08/2013 18:05

I've just had a quick google and it seems that it's not that rare for people on the spectrum to speak with an unusual accent.

Perhaps Abz's ASD has made him more susceptible to adopting that particular accent.

Chipstick10 · 27/08/2013 18:16

Btw I also have difficulty watching the auditions on the xf. Too many deluded folk, makes for very uncomfortable viewing.

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 18:24

I have always maintained that BB and CBB would be a lot more exciting if every two weeks they released a hungry wild cat into the house for 10 minutes - on live feed Grin

Chipstick10 · 27/08/2013 18:29

Nooooo cats remind me of George Galloway slithering around with rula lenska. I had nightmares for weeks.

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 18:41

I'm talking a tiger, or a smallish lion or a panther. Something with a lot of teeth! Wink Now THAT is a reality tv show I'd like to watch!

Sparklysilversequins · 27/08/2013 18:43

How do you know it doesn't raise awareness chipstick? I don't think you sound particularly cold and unfeeling by the way. I understand what you're saying.

The thing is Abz has got a pretty solid fan base, everyone knows who he is, he's a character. I can guarantee that even just a couple of fans would have googled to find out what it meant. Not only that, as silly as it sounds I can't tell you what a comfort it was to me when I found out that Paddy Considine and Dan Ackroyd both have it. Two hugely successful people whose work I have loved over the years. It's very easy to look on the dark side when you have dc with autism, to see people with it succeeding really helps you to get perspective.

buss · 27/08/2013 18:44

I didn't know Dan Ackroyd had ASD!

Sparklysilversequins · 27/08/2013 18:46

Oh and I meant to add that although CBB may not be seen by us as a success, its still putting it out there in the mainstream and many of its viewers might feel that actually it is quite a big deal to be there hence the huge numbers of applicants annually Hmm.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 18:55

SirRaymond - one of the foreign BBs put a load of tarantulas in the house once. I can't remember which one. I'll have a quick google and see if I can find it. (Without seeing any pictures as that would give me the willies!)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 19:03

Just found it - it was BB Belgium. They put in 99 tarantulas but told the housemates there were 100 and they had to find them all. They found them all but obviously they thought there was still one loose in the house.

If I had been there I would have had to leave.

SirRaymondClench · 27/08/2013 19:18

Anne see now that's TV!! Grin

Sparkley I didn't know that about Dan Ackroyd or Paddy Considine either. I looooooove Paddy Considine. (is that wrong?)

mrsjay · 27/08/2013 19:51

I agree it doesn't raise awareness if people with disabilities go on it shows people can be idiots whatever condition they have but awareness nah I dont agree either I remember there was an ex soldier on channel 4 BB and he had a disability and he was a creep so he didnt raise any sort of disability awareness he was just a creep but he would have been a creep anyway

Lighthousekeeping · 27/08/2013 20:11

I agree.

Jellykat · 27/08/2013 22:08

That Vicky's a nasty piece of work Shock
Funny Louis telling her shes made a twat of herself, fair play Louis!

thornrose · 27/08/2013 22:09

As a mum to a dd with Aspergers and constantly having to tell people what it is, awareness to me is as simple as someone googling Aspergers because Abz from five has it!!

thornrose · 27/08/2013 22:12

Sorry Sparkly I didn't read your post I wasn't copying Grin

Paddy Considine was diagnosed at 33yo old!!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 27/08/2013 22:13

Vicky is very bitter, isn't she? I don't understand why, she seems to have had regular acting work since leaving Corrie.

peppapigmustdie · 27/08/2013 22:14

sparkilng my dnephew is high functioning and he could be Abz right now.
You are right, it is all a huge spectrum.

thornrose · 27/08/2013 22:15

"Awareness nah I don't agree" mrsjay, do you really believe a programme watched by so many people will not raise awareness of a condition like Aspergers?

My dd was over the moon to see someone on tv with Aspergers.

Jellykat · 27/08/2013 22:20

Maybe shes peri meno Anne

disclaimer: i'm not being ageist, because i'm the same age and know i can be a right cow at times too Grin

Chipstick10 · 27/08/2013 22:23

Why the fuck is bb giving louis so much power? He's a nasty little bitch. Omg Sophie's face was a picture when Charlotte was voted number one hottie.

Chipstick10 · 27/08/2013 22:24

Charlotte is going to win isn't she?

Chipstick10 · 27/08/2013 22:24

We know what age group is voting.
