As i said ^ up thread I did report the lack of balls to MNHQ & also told them that I would never give them any gin.

Here's the reply:

"Sorry! They'll be back next year!
that there's no gin
Best
Olivia
MNHQ"

Humph! They took away our balls far too early!

Raahh · 08/07/2013 20:03

Next year??? Shock
But- Tennis is for life, not just WimbledonGrin

GlaikitFizzog · 08/07/2013 20:04

Harrumph, apparently Glasgow 2014 organisers haven't included tennis as one of the sports in the commonwealth games next year! We would have been a sure bet for a gold there!

Next year? what about the US Open????????

come on Olivia, bring it back at least for the US Open

ClayDavis · 08/07/2013 20:08

But there's 349 days, 15 hours and 52 minutes until next year's Wimbledon. That's a long time for Tennis not to work.

GameSetAndMatch · 08/07/2013 20:11

and some out there are already saying that if Roger or Rafa hadnt gone out Andy wouldnt have won.

and that Djoko was tired from his semi (when Murray played more than he did).

oh here we go. ever the naysayers. FFS enjoy it!

Raahh · 08/07/2013 20:19

How did Andy play more than Djoko in his semi?Confused Djoko/DelPotato played the longest semi in Wimbledon history?

MirandaWest · 08/07/2013 20:20

I can see your ball Raah :)

Raahh · 08/07/2013 20:21

GrinMiranda- I'm on the laptop now- so I can't!!

GameSetAndMatch · 08/07/2013 20:25

Raah they said Andy plyed longer matches as in sets/games, andd until the semi Djoko was breezing through?

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/07/2013 20:26

Both Djoko and Andy went through the same process, neither had to meet Federer or Nadal.
Djoko had a harder semi, that's the way tennis goes.
But in the final they both met as No.1 and 2 in the world, and Andy won.
Simple.
I'm really looking to forward to seeing their rivalry in the future.

GlaikitFizzog · 08/07/2013 20:28

HE WAS THE NUMBER TWO SEED FFS :o

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2013 20:29

Gggrrrr at the naysayers. I SAID this would happen didn't I? 24 hours on and they're knocking him already. He best the world number one in straight sets. What more do people want?

Raahh · 08/07/2013 20:31

oh, Game- I was just confused. Sorry.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 08/07/2013 20:36

tennis

Raahh your ball worked perfectly on the ipad. I have ball envy.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 08/07/2013 20:38

I think it was a great match, Djoko may not have played his best but that is the way the cookie crumbles.

I am still delighted about murrays win. Ds is still telling anyone who will listen about how I elbowed him in pure excitement. :o

GameSetAndMatch · 08/07/2013 20:41

okay Raah ! Smile

and what chubb said.

ClayDavis · 08/07/2013 20:51

arf at LadyBeagleEyes and Djoko's harder semi.

This is the reason I said yesterday that I didn't want Murray to win this year, I knew this would happen. But Murray's world ranking is currently higher than both Federer's and Nadal's. On paper he's supposed to get further than them in tournaments. It doesn't matter whether he meets them or not. Murray could have got knocked out in an earlier round, he didn't. He also beat Verdasco and Janowicz who both played good tennis.

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/07/2013 20:57

You missed my point Clay.
Yes Djoko had the harder semi, but this was another day and another match and he's a professional, I was trying to say it shouldn't have made a difference.
Pretty much what you just said really, but maybe I didn't make it clear.

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:02

I love Murray's response to Holly Willoughby, when she asked if he was going to marry Kim- 'why should I tell you, we've only just metGrin'

I didn't see it, and I'm sure it was said with a wry smile. But I'd like to imagine he was thinking 'this again?? really?? Sod off!' or Scottish equivalent Grin

Chubfuddler · 08/07/2013 21:06

Christ they earn every penny don't they? The banality of the questions they get asked.

It's an even better response than "did you mean to be so rude?" Maybe judy is a mner.

ClayDavis · 08/07/2013 21:06

Sorry LadyBeagleEyes. I did get your point. That wasn't what I was laughing at. I will pick up my mind out of the gutter though. Grin

siezethenight · 08/07/2013 21:09

McEnroe mentioned something of note while the tournament was on - he said that Murray and Djok were the way the game was now progressing. Their style of playing was the new style of playing, much as Sampras' style when he was at top and Fed and Nadal, yes, sadly, he said Nadal as well, tweaked his game to play a Federer type game to be the best at his sport. Nowt wrong with that but he said that Murray and Djok had more court cover and shots not just the huge serves. That was why, in his opinion, they were numbers 1 and 2 today and will be for a long time if, (imagine his American drawl here( 'God forbid no injuries lay them out' and he predicted, early on in this tournament, McEnroe, that is, that there would be the rivalry between these two like there was before with himself and Connors and so on and so forth. That the game was simply evolving, as it had done throughout all the history of it.
It was so interesting, he said it while commentating on a game and I can't remember which game although I remember posting up here that McEnroe had said something interesting. Maybe it was Potato match and the actual match just took over from our chat? I don't recall anyhow when he said it.
