Judy has taught him well, yes. Grin

I got the semi reference - but my mind is in the gutter permanently. GrinBlush

I would absolutely agree with supermac. It does seem that the men's game is changing.

siezethenight · 08/07/2013 21:14

Today has been a bit strange actually like coming down after a huge high. I have been getting up by 5.30 each day for the past 2 weeks and doing a bit of work so I did not have to work and could watch tennis all afternoon(s) and evenings. So I was up again at 5.30 today for no bloody reason at all aside from I did and there was no tennis on telly this afternoon.
I am so tired I can't tell you. And its caught u with me this afternoon as there was nothing on Tv to keep my brain going.
And no fecking Tennis to cheer me up on here either.
I can't do bloody blue boxes, that's just beyond me.

It has often been said that really, Nadal doesn't have a game that should win anything. Yet it does. All players have to amend their games, as they play the same players over and over. Edberg changed his serve, to have a better chance against the onslaught of baseliners.

Murray has now found the fantastic passing shots needed to get passed one of the best in the game- it's hard to shock someone who knows your game so well. And he did.

And I've just switched onto the doc- whilst Corden is on. Unfortunately. Grin

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:25

sieze- I know how you feel.

I'm certainly hormonal- but the lack of tennis hasn't helped.

And I want myTennis back!

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/07/2013 21:26

I missed the documentary first time round, weeping with Andy when he was discussing Dunblane Sad.

ClayDavis · 08/07/2013 21:27

The men's game is changing and I agree with Mac. But Murray and Djok are just reaching their peak. Federer is nearly 32, he's naturally heading towards the end of his career and isn't the player he was (although still a fantastic player). Nadal's career might be shortened by that knee. He certainly can't move as well as he used to.

I wonder whether the naysayers are the people for whom tennis is Nadal and Federer and Wimbledon for two weeks of the year. For them you have to beat Roger or Rafa or it doesn't matter. In reality, there is so much depth in the men's game at the moment that winning anything is an achievement.

LadyBeagleEyes · 08/07/2013 21:31

I so hope Nadal recovers from his injury and gets back to his brilliant form again.

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:35

lady- me too. And having 12 slams at 27, it's not a bad legacy, really. Grin

I remember when Edberg was really coming to the end- it was tough to see. The Boris/Stefan era ended, and Sampras/Courier etc took over. And then Federer/nadal. It's ever evolving- no more wooden rackets and long trousersGrin

ClayDavis · 08/07/2013 21:36

So do I. But some sports players are prone to injury/re injury and its so much tougher to cope with that in an individual sport like tennis. Given how brilliant a player he is it would be a massive shame if could no longer play to the same standard because of it.

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:37

And of course- the rivalries are different depending on the surface.

ooh, RafaGrin

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:41

Clay- definitely. It won't be the end. .

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:42

I love the Outnumbered sketch- it always makes me laugh.

Baldy Andre!

SconeInSixtySeconds · 08/07/2013 21:45

Edberg made me love serve and volley.

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:47

oh Rafa and your twinkly eyes. If I'd been told he was in it so much, I'd have watched it beforeWink

ClayDavis · 08/07/2013 21:48

I so hope you're right Raahh. I remember posting that it felt like the end of an era, when Roger was being knocked out in the 2nd round and Rafa had already been knocked out. I don't think I can cope with them both coming to the end at once.

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:49

I should have been Mrs Edberg. It's my main regret in life sort of.

His run to the net, after his serve The foot faults, i didn't like so muchGrin

Chubfuddler · 08/07/2013 21:52

Oh god love him with his I dreamt I had won wimbledon and then I woke up and I hadn't.

He is lush. I love him love him love him.

Chubfuddler · 08/07/2013 21:53

They've added a bit!!

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:55

Clay the loss of Nadal was less of a shock, in retrospect, (though awful to watch) than when Federer lost onhis surface. When Nadal loses first round in the French- I'll know it's coming to an end. Provided he doesn't totally fuck his knee up in the meantime. I like a nice retirement- not an injury/ illness forced one (get well soon, Robin Soderling).

Chubfuddler · 08/07/2013 21:55

Rafa is gorgeously twinkly. I just wish he would leave his winky alone.

Raahh · 08/07/2013 21:56

I wouldn't call him lush- but he's growing on meGrin

I luffs his granny.
