The Deirdre situation is awkward isn't it, she works in the medical centre but there are no storylines related to that, she mainly only appears at home apart from that but it is difficult to do home scenes without putting forward an excuse as to where Ken is. They can't ship out anyone else to look after poorly relatives and Ken is probably the oldest in his dysfunctional family so it would be highly unlikely. So Deirdre is Eileen's new best friend to replace Julie and in the pub on her own a lot.

MissMarplesBloomers · 16/06/2013 18:55

Must be a nightmare for the scriptwriters with one main character on mat leave & 2 more suspended/resting.

Possibly why the plotlines are so crap just now maybe, lots of frantic re-writing behind the scenes just to get through the immediate future?

Now they know Bill Roache is going to be out until january at least & Michael Le Vell until September maybe they can get their act together a bit!

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/06/2013 19:24

Can't say I miss Kev much but shame about Ken I liked his scenes with his withering 'oh Traceyyy'

PaintedBottom · 17/06/2013 10:27

I'm a bit behind at the moment, but I did have a little laugh when Devcule Poirot knocked a glass off the table and was SO very helpful in cleaning it up by throwing a tissue at it.... it's the kind of thing my DP would do Grin

It's about the only time I've laughed at Dev.... in stark contrast, the scene a week or so back in Sally's back garden with all the strange snivelling and the Adele stuff and the "I'd love a glass of your wine, Sally" made me cringe so much I wanted to stick sharp pencils in my ears....

whatkungfuthat · 17/06/2013 10:59

That scene had me transfixed wondering whether her blazing fire pot thing was going to set light to the fence Grin

Bakingnovice · 17/06/2013 12:08

Loving the devcule poirot comment. Hahaa.

Deirdre and Eileen's sudden besties act is very unconvincing indeed.

PaintedBottom · 17/06/2013 13:24

Oooh Baking I should point out that I didn't make up that name, someone else upthread is responsible, but I think it should be used always Grin

CatherineofMumbles · 17/06/2013 17:26

Devcule, yes! I have also heard Devolumbo on account of the raincoat.

Sleepyfergus · 17/06/2013 18:54

Oooh, it was me who named him Devcule Poirot!! But if he keeps on wearing that dirty flasher mac, then we might have to switch to Devolumbo.

I thought that Carl was quite good the other night, almost had me feeling quite sorry for him!

Can see David about to go mental though, he already knows Kulie is lying. Slippery slope.....

Bessy St's only round the corner, isn't it? Why were Asda & Aldi getting into Dev's car??

CatherineofMumbles · 17/06/2013 19:45

ladytron I've often wondered that...

NuggetofPurestGreen · 17/06/2013 19:58

delurks

Is Tina for real???!! Keeping the baby AND not giving Owen's money back??

Also, first time I've ever felt sorry for David Platt

CatherineofMumbles · 17/06/2013 19:59

Maybe to earn the money to pay them back she'll have to be a surrogate for another couple, and then...

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2013 20:01

Thought tonight's episode was full of random small chit chat between people like they were trying to fill the gaps.

Tina is being a right bitch, I used to like her but now she's being selfish and snappy at Tommy. I don't want her to keep the baby and I'm saying that as a Gary/ Izzy hater.

whatkungfuthat · 17/06/2013 20:01

Oops that's torn it! Are we going to see the return of evil David?

The Tina thing is ridiculous, with her keeping the money. And surely if the birth mother has automatic rights then they won't get far in court anyway?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 17/06/2013 20:07

whatkungfu I don't know anything about surrogacy but think someone was saying earlier on this thread (or elsewhere) that Gary may have some rights as biological father?? And thus could look for custody.....

Glad David has found out though at least they haven't dragged on til Christmas like they normally do.

FannyMcNally · 17/06/2013 20:07

I can't wait for the 8.30 episode (because of David) and I haven't said THAT for a long time! I like Leanne though and it's her who's going to be hurt as well as David.

thenightsky · 17/06/2013 20:33

Blimey at speed of Kyle/David/Nick thing. I thought they'd play that one out till at least Xmas.

whatkungfuthat · 17/06/2013 20:35

I know that Leanne isn't popular but does anyone remember that scene with Peter after she found out about Carla. I thought it was really well acted and heartbreaking.

thenightsky · 17/06/2013 20:50

Now wondering if David is going to play the long game. He is vile when he turned back into evil rat boy.

whatkungfuthat · 17/06/2013 20:55

Sorry Nugget, didn't mean to ignore you. I'm blocking out the thought of Gary being the father Grin

NuggetofPurestGreen · 17/06/2013 21:47

Ha ha whatkung I don't blame you. Although I used to quite like him back a couple of years ago post-PTSD and pre ridiculous surrogacy storyline.

I used to like Tina too but she appears to have been replaced by a weird waxwork version of herself with giant white teeth (like Ross in that episode of Friends) who has no qualms about keeping the Windyass baby and the Windyass money. Did you see how far up on her head her eyebrows were earlier???

Scared of scary David.

Sleepyfergus · 17/06/2013 22:08

Really starting to go off Tina. Keeping the baby AND the cash and the bewildered surprise at being booted out the flat last week. Is she THICK?? And I'm not a fan of Gary and Izzy but starting to feel a bit more for them. Although if Izzy says 'Jaaayeke' once more, I might just smash the telly.

And bing bong bouncy Dev is back. But for how long?? His character is either manically hyper or manically depressed.

And yy, David is scary when he's been crossed.

OP posts:
Bakingnovice · 17/06/2013 22:14

I'm glad Tina kept the baby. I just cannot stand the windys or the Owen clan. Thugs and bullies. Oh and Anna is just a vile nasty bitchy piece. But I agree that Tina's teeth are ridiculous. They give her this silly lisp she never had before. The acting from izzy this week! Sheesh. Me and dj have ended up laughing!

Really liking the faux comedy devculot is providing. And hurrah for David reverting to nasty bitch mode.
