Watched it last night. Tis good, but disturbing. Gillian Anderson very good. Jamie Dornan scary. Anyone else see it?

OP posts:

After the credits, it shows him jogging and then 'The Fall. To be Continued'.

V. excited!

SoTiredAgain · 10/06/2013 22:35

Nope, did not see that.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:36

"SoTiredAgain Mon 10-Jun-13 22:27:52
aitch you remind me of those two old men in the Muppet show - Statler and Waldorf."

this is what happened on the guardian site too, anyone talking the show down at all was undermined. when in fact imo anyone who thought this was anything more than a piece of stylishly-shot exploitative nonsense should be taking a long hard look at themselves.

FamiliesShareGerms · 10/06/2013 22:37

I'm not sure it even is a cliffhanger, to be honest. Not really a sense of suspense. Very annoying

SoTiredAgain · 10/06/2013 22:37

christina I'm sure it would have been sorted by her. She seems very organised.

AprilLudgate · 10/06/2013 22:37

Me neither, I had to rewind and watch after wintera mentioned it!

LillyGrinter · 10/06/2013 22:37

I liked it and especially the fact that it didn't end properly as I've got a bit bored with the normal TV detective series where everything is wrapped up in 2 hours. Looking forward to the next series

wintera · 10/06/2013 22:38

The extra bit was just after the credits. He was jogging through some streets again (maybe Scottish streets are we thinking?) and a thing come up saying The Fall - to be continued.

Aitch - I don't think it was perfect by any means, but it wasn't as bad as you make out though. Not perfect, but definitely not shite.

Christina - loads of serial rapists and killers keep mementos in their house I'm afraid. Its well documented. There was a horrible sadistic prolific rapist a few years back who kept his victims shoes if I remember correctly. Can't remember exactly where he kept them but the police found loads of shoes after they caught him.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:38

agreed, it's really not a cliffhanger at all. that's why i have no idea really how the commissioning would have worked. that was never the end of an entire series, there was nothing to it. must've been in the bag before...

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:41

'as bad as i make out'

but none of it makes any sense, though... i mean, it just doesn't work. what single lawyer has double locks on her bedroom door but no burglar alarm? that was ep 1.

GA's blouse was the best thing in it. (and it was magnificent, no doubt about that).

ghosteditor · 10/06/2013 22:42

Aitch it was a splendiferous blouse Grin

SoTiredAgain · 10/06/2013 22:43

The thing is aitch people on this thread are generally excited by the show and are enjoying it. Let us enjoy it without pointing out all it's fault and believe, there are plenty of faults with the show, but you know what, it doesn't matter - it's only a TV programme - no one really died. Let us enjoy it.

I'm not trying to undermine you, just trying to inject some humour (didn't mean to offend) but you have consistently undermined the show. I don't get why you come on to the thread when you did not enjoy it and then seem baffled over and over again when people do enjoy it, that's all.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:43

wasn't it though? Grin

SoTiredAgain · 10/06/2013 22:43

Loved those blouses too.

wigglesrock · 10/06/2013 22:46

You'd have double locks on a bedroom door and no burglar alarm if the house was ever shared - I did Smile

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:46

because the thread, nay The Whole Of MN, is for discussion. it's not the 'please fuck off if you didn't like the fall' thread. really. check the title. it's just called 'the fall'. i can back up everything i'm saying, if you can't then maybe it's because it wasn't very good and you were just taken in by the merest idea of a strong female character and some fancy camera shots. The BBC should be making better television than this, you should demand MORE for your money.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 10/06/2013 22:47

What extra bit after the credits?

They'll find his burnt out car, trace it to him, realise he was in the station, and then GA will realise the significance of his words on the phone that she has already let him walk away.

How he gets his family to stay in Scotland to avoid being traced when she is a scbu nurse and the kids need to go to school ...

I loved this series! What to do on a Monday night now?

RiotsNotDiets · 10/06/2013 22:47

"honestly, the woman deserved to die." Confused

I know it's not real, but still... that's a bit much.

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp · 10/06/2013 22:47

Shit I really thought they might wrap it up. Can't believe how quickly the wife forgave him re the babysitter esp after she acknowledged the damage he was doing to the daughter.
Damn good watching though.
Anyone know when we can expect S2?

BOF · 10/06/2013 22:47

Allan Cubitt pitched the script to the BBC as a 12-parter, so I'm thinking that it will turn out like Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes, with a thought-out story arc which was always going to take more time to tell.

Quite why they didn't just film the whole fucking thing though, I have no idea.

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp · 10/06/2013 22:49

Quite BOF

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:49

that's deffo true, wiggles, actually. but that's to protect your stuff from flatmates. she's now living there on her own and she can't even be arsed to get a burglar alarm when she knows someone has free access to the property and has threatened her sexually.

plus, if it was shared at one point, that must be mentioned in the script. she shouted 'i'm barricaded into the room' to the cops... so it was in the script that she has the locks. cubitt needs to explain why, or it's just nutty.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/06/2013 22:52

it's not real, riots. it's just a badly-written tv drama.
agree, Bof, it has to be a 12 -parter... have you seen that confirmed any where? the only reason i can think of for them not filming the whole show is that someone at the BBC thought it was a stinker, but then they put it on pre-summer, which usually is a show of faith. v strange.

MustTidyUpMustTidyUp · 10/06/2013 22:55

it's just a badly-written tv drama
But I Just don't care!

RiotsNotDiets · 10/06/2013 22:56

It's still a thoroughly unpleasant thing to say well, write
